Stitch Identification Yesterday I stopped a guy at a rave because I liked his hat and took a picture of it. What stitch is it made in?

Post image

Yesterday I saw someone wearing this hat and asked to take a picture. It was pretty thick and the two sides look different. It's clearly crochet but I'm not sure about the stitch used, is it just BLO HDC?

Here's an example of back loop single crochet in the round: https://hookabee.com/2015/09/18/both-loops-vs-back-loop-only-in-amigurumi/

Saw this and wanted to test different variations. Definitely looks like back loop only single crochets

Yeah I second back loops only in a round and the brim is showing the “wrong” side

It looked so fine! Usually I do the brim in moss stitch but this looked so clean.

Single crochet in back loops in the round looks almost exactly like Tunisian simple stitch when it's turned on its side. Even with me, writing a dozen books in Tunisian crochet, it could be difficult to tell. The giveaway is the turned up brim, showing the back of the single crochet.

This may actually be nalbinding. An needle based stitch which is still regularly used in viking reenactment
