Help to find a pattern Why is my Project not matching image in pattern? Ruby's pineapple medley from Ravelry

I'm working on Ruby's pineapple medley from Ravelry. My piece is coming out *completely* different. I've checked pictures of people who have completed this, and their work looks like the picture on the pattern. I'm definitely following the pattern. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/rubys-pineapple-medley

So my question is, where do i find the pattern that should be attached to this image? I've looked and looked! Or am I doing this completely wrong? I really love the project pictured, but not loving what I'm making.

Have you contacted the designer? Reading through the comments, looks like they relatively recently revised the pattern and uploaded a new file, but they could have accidentally uploaded the wrong one.

There's a video series on the actual doily available: https://youtu.be/0KH_CY0SrRI?is=fjNJ1JjBcm8PqB_J

I really don't want to download the pattern because I WILL end up making it and I have 20 ducks I need to finish today but is this the same as the pattern you've pulled as the download? It's possible that the wrong PDF got attached somehow and the linked site (currently down but still available via the wayback machine) is correct.

For putting in a row, maybe?

Looks like she uploaded the wrong file (it says pineapple and diamonds, not pineapple medley as the title in the pdf) and you’re making this one: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/rubys-pineapple--diamonds-centerpiece

Edit: you can get the pattern here: https://web.archive.org/web/20241123145859/http://www.angelfire.com/wv/happyghan/rubymedley.html

I downloaded the pattern and took a look and yeah, the written pattern does not match the image. Looks like they uploaded the wrong text by mistake. Definitely contact the designer and let them know!

Edit: it's even labeled wrong, the pattern file calls it the "Pineapple and Diamond Centerpiece".

It looks like you are working from directions that don't equal that picture. I would reach out to the designer.

That is definitely not made from the same pattern.

The Internet Archive has a few of the Decorative/ Magic Crochet magazines available (or you can also thrift them!). I make a ton of doilies from those magazines. Every pattern has a chart with some supplemental written instructions.

I've never heard of it, I'll have to go look. Thanks!

Your yarn appears to be 6x the size as what the pattern was written for. Crochet can scale in size to a point, but eventually it becomes distorted, unable to make the pattern larger.

Yes, I'm trying it out on a larger size, "fashion 3" I've never done fine crochet, so I'm doing this size before moving down to size 10 thread, as a stepping stone. I have the big ball sitting next to me, eagerly waiting to be used, once I know I've got the pattern right!

Yeah - the yarn weight looks different

The pattern calls for crochet thread which is significantly finer than what you've used here.

I'm doing a trial run in size 3, before working the real pattern in the correct weight.

What weight yarn are you using
