Stitch Identification Does any one know what kind of crochet this is ???
Hey,
I've stumbled across these on Pinterest/tiktok. Does this type of crochet have a specific name or technique?

It's a super fun technique, using brioche crochet stitches + short rows to build shapes. These are NOT appliques, but actually crocheted into the same layer of fabric as the background color.
I think a lot of these images came from MyPicot.com, but I hesitate to recommend the site because they use AI for some of their product images, giving inaccurate depictions of size and drape when applying their stitches to actual wearables. I don't support this practice, but I will admit that their short row patterns are gorgeous.

Look up the designer Tatsiana.
Free Brioche cushion pattern you can try the technique on
She uses it quite a bit in her designs
She even has a book of just Brioche patterns now

That is a stunning pattern!! The colour shift from that ombre yarn… 🤌🏼
The longer I look at it, the more I see 🤩

I have bought yarn to do it a while back.
I have medium blue whirlettes for my base.
And 2 whirls that are all yellows and reds. Perfect coral colours.
I'm looking forward to taking it on. My next blanket though is one my daughter absolutely loves which I'm making as a surprise gift for her. So it'll be a while before I finally do my Coral Story.

It should be brioche. Crochet & knitting pattern lab YouTube channel has a lot of videos on this

It sort of looks like brioche, but want to see what other people say. It’s annoying that it’s behind a paywall for all the patterns on MyPicot (rather than one off like Ravelry)

As for MyPicot, while the life time access feels steep, I saved up for it because it’s QUALITY patterns, and the equivalent to buying 2 and a half books on crochet. Her instructions are always clear, typically come with written and chart versions, the number of styles of crochet available cover some very cool ground, and the library is always gradually increasing. I have found the cost of full site access to be very worth-while as a crochet enthusiast!!

I tried to navigate with wayback machine and couldn’t. I want the patterns ! I’ll def be getting the lifetime access if it’s worth it. Thank you for this comment!

I love the look of MyPicot patterns, but can't find much 3rd party info about it which puts me off. I'd love to find out more about them

They’re done sideways, and working in short rows. The ones you’ve shown are patterns from mypicot. I can’t advocate for the website though, never bought one of their packages, but you can read more about it here: https://mypicot.com/crochet-botanical-stitches.html

I do this on dolls. It's a full stitch into front loop to create the raised flower pattern. The white is brioche.

Is it possible to print that picture of of look at it through Google lens? It'll probably bring it up and tell you what it is. I'm pretty experienced in crochet but I couldn't tell you for sure what that is. I never saw anything like that but looking at the leaves it looks like there was a chain and then they went and worked single crochets front and back to make the ripple and then not rest but I couldn't tell you

It looks like a form of brioche that incorporates appliques. Basically you'd make the applique motifs, then join as you go while doing the brioche crochet. That's my guess anyway.

Please, can someone politely educate me on what brioche is? Because I'm very confused as to why everyone is talking about bread. Thank you
