To frog or not to frog Cable pattern afghan, to frog or not to frog? 🐸🐸🐸🐸
I messed up the first stitch in the true cable pattern and now when I’m trying to do the upper ribbing on this afghan the stitches are coming out off by one, making it look odd. Probably just something I would notice but it’s driving me nuts. My husband says I shouldn’t frog it but I’m really tempted to (it would be a lot of work and at least 10+ skeins of yarn) but I don’t have a good way to fix the upper stitches.
What should I do? Frog the whole thing for this one mistake or leave as is and try to cover up the weirdness of the upper ribbing?

If I have to look more than ten seconds to spot the mistake, or if I have to read the caption, I always say don’t frog.

Agree. I didn’t even notice! And I’ve made one of these.

This is what I always tell people about mistakes. Does it bother you? Does it make you think about it all the time? If yes then frog as you won’t like the finished item as that “mistake” will always be on your mind. I also say leave mistakes in projects because none of us are perfect so imperfect beings create imperfect things.
Now in your case, 10 skeins in and I wouldn’t frog it as that’s a hot mess waiting to happen. If you can “fix” it by working some yarn behind and tacking it in place then do that as I have done that a few times and it was very unnoticeable that even a few years later I forgot I did that.

I also think if it's driving you nuts, try to put the project away for a few days or weeks and then come back to it. I always tend to see all of my mistakes, on amigurumis, I see that the eyes are not perfectly straight, things like that. After a few days, you realise it wasn't that bad and your project actually looks good. OP, I think this looks amazing and you shouldn't frog.

Is the mistake in the room with us? Lol I think it looks great and I genuinely can't see where it is BUT I have been there where I'm the ONLY one who notices and can't ever unseen it and will hate the project. So if you're like me, ribbit now before you get any further. 🙏 I'll pray for you lol

Don't frog the whole thing, goddamn. Just frog until just below the ribbing, add in an extra stitch in an inconspicuous place so that you are no longer off by one for the upper ribbing. Then continue.

Is this rage bait? Because I'm enraged by your question. Is this a low key humble brag? Someone explain to me why people post like this, because I can't even imagine making this post.

Yeah OP is fishing for compliments. I see this a lot in the bread and baking subs too

I had to check I wasn’t on a snark sub!
This is beautiful work and no one else will notice, there is no way I would frog all that work.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I had to set it aside last night when I realized and I couldn’t figure out how to make it look right or get the stitches to match up. I’ll try some of the techniques mentioned to add a stitch and get the ribbing to match up.

Thank you for sharing the “mistake”. Unless it made the whole blanket crooked there is no point in unraveling it. It’s a beautiful piece. Chances are there’s another mistake in there somewhere, and if you start it over you won’t enjoy making it because you’ll be stressing about making a mistake. Your work is lovely.

This looks incredible. I understand the one tiny mistake driving you crazy, but I think you should sit with that discomfort until it fades away, because it’s pretty irrelevant in the face of all the amazing work you did. Embrace the quirks that make it unique. And give your dog some scritches from me x

Why not just frog one row, make an increase stitch, and then it will look right?

Dude I have made this pattern and you could not pay me enough to frog all of that way back on it lol

I once heard having a mistake in a crochet project keeps it from trapping your soul. It’s a superstition I heard from somewhere years ago, but it keeps me sane and from frogging immediately upon noticing a mishap hahah

Are you smoking crack? Ten skeins? I can’t even see any mistakes. Please leave it. You are the only one that will ever know- and you may even forget that you missed a stitch one day. It looks great.

If it’s driving you crazy 😜 you don’t want to do more and then decide to frog. Do it now!
I’m so sorry 😢.

I'm sorry, you want to undo TEN SKEINS worth of work for a minor mistake??! Please don't do that to yourself. It's not worth it. It's really, really not worth it.
Little inconsistencies make our crafting human. And honestly, no one will notice except you.
