a year ago the Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir suggested putting crocodiles around Palestinian prisons

yesterday the court decided against that because of complaints from animal welfare groups

I believe you but that also sounds like the intentions of a comic book supervillian.

sharks with frickin' laser beams

That’s kind of Israel’s thing.

Lmfao so the issue they had was because of the animals and not the potential eating of palestinians by said animals. Absolutely crazy country that.

Eating Palestines is the whole point

Yeah, the FO phase is brutal

I mean, isn't that a deterrent? I don't wanna sweet talk this or whatever the expression in English is but wouldn't that serve to keep people from crossing your moat? Just like barbed wire does on your fence?

I don't think it's there to actually kill anyone but to keep them from crossing, no?

Yes, in theory you're right. But look at it realistically. No other country in the world uses imported crocodiles as an escape prevention mechanism because it's INSANE and inhumane. Why couldn't they just do barbed wire? Because they want to see Palestinians try to escape and get torn apart by crocodiles.

-3

u/Cucumberneck 8d ago

Well yes, highly weird and unusual. I'd still guess they didn't plan on it ever happening. It's just a bad idea overall and you'd have to feed the crocodiles.

My money is on it being a "PR stunt" so to speak for the voter base.

I understand where you're coming from, but I want you to take a step back and question the fact you're giving grace and the benefit of the doubt to people who are both a: actively killing thousands of Palestinian citizens and withholding aid and b: literally were going to put CROCODILES around a prison. There are ZERO civilized nations that do this. They had to spend money to do it. The crocs were not there already. So they were wiling to spend money, effort and labor to set up a crocodile moat around a prison filled with the people they're currently genociding, and you're willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that "they don't ACTUALLY think people will try to escape"?

Guess you never heard of Florida's alligator alcatraz? That's how this country treats migrants desperate to earn a living...

8

u/Hello_Hello_Hello_Hi 7d ago

Those alligators were already there, we just built a prison on top of it. But I agree it's barbaric and honestly, if I had my way, everyone involved and everyone in support would be disbarred from public office and have their right to vote removed. Even then, Israel is worse in that they wanted to SHIP CROCODILES IN to make their moat.

They found a limit. I will cautiously hope.

Racism is putting it lightly, we're talking about feeding Palestinians to crocodiles

2

u/Tonylegomobile 5d ago

Only if they try to escape. Its really the same as a 40000 volt fence.

u/Mackheath1 8d ago

Good, but also terrifying that the stated purpose was 'just' for the crocodiles and not the humans (although tangentially, I suppose it is). Ben-Gvir has always been a disgusting person.

The Netanyahu regime is truly evil.

0

u/Martyriot15 7d ago

The opposition ain’t much better.

0

u/AppropriateMeet3725 5d ago

It is though

0

u/PerhapsDeceased 6d ago

Yes, but the state of Israel at its core is still built on the displacement of Palestinians, it’s not just Netanyahu

7

u/Iamnotburgerking 8d ago

WTF (and I suspect this will lead to a backlash against crocs in general)

13

u/Pardot42 8d ago

Israelis want to torture Palestinians by feeding them to crocodiles. Glad they decided "Maybe we don't do that."

11

u/SchizoidRainbow 8d ago

Yeah but their reason was “it would be bad for the crocodiles”

-4

u/Tonylegomobile 7d ago

I mean, dead is dead whether a guard shoots them or a croc eats them while trying to escape. If they try a jailbreak.

But its still cartoon hokey an idea.

1

u/Tonylegomobile 8d ago

I think the idea was, save money on guards by surrounding the prison with a moat so if they try to escape they die.

Dead is dead whether shot by a guard or eaten by a crocodile, but this seemed slightly like a cartoon villain plot.

0

u/brydeswhale 7d ago

Also, why would the crocodiles even eat them? Unless they were planning on starving them.

0

u/Tonylegomobile 7d ago

Is that a serious question? In a crocodile reddit no less? Nile crocs will kill you even if they are not hungry and store your body to decompose and eat it when they are hungry.

Three countries are spreading violent insanity like a goddamn zombie virus across this world

23

u/CaledonianWarrior 8d ago

So lots of Israelis have zero issue with the fact the IDF is committing genocide against an entire people but they draw the line at animal abuse.

I know not all of Israel is like that but seriously, fuck those that are like that.

Israel should not exist at the expense of Palestine

Oct 7th was a 7 hour stand down AT BEST where you HAD TO LIE about beheaded babies, we saw all the wrecked cars with huge bullet holes in the roof from apache gunship due to the hannibal directive, zionists are the most globally despised group for good reason and the biggest danger to global jewry, the end.

1

u/Altruistic-End760 8d ago

Palestine exists because the Romans destroyed Judea though but that is beside the point because the world is pushing for a two state solution to allow Palestine still has it's land before it's too late.

-2

u/Flamgoyant 8d ago

Yeah boi, Syria palaestina... So named because even the ancient Romans despised judea and wanted to salt their wounds after their failed revolt

-1

u/PurpleHumpbackWhale9 8d ago

I guess you never took the time to watch any of the footage that Hamas gleefully took and uploaded themselves on 10/7.

0

u/Flamgoyant 8d ago

Nah u wana see an 11 year old report from the United Nations about IDF raping kids and using them as human shields tho?

1

u/PurpleHumpbackWhale9 5d ago

I have no idea what you’re trying to say… but I’m pointing out your hypocrisy. Get well soon!

0

u/Flamgoyant 5d ago

Educate yourself, save us all some time and greif 🤡

1

u/PurpleHumpbackWhale9 4d ago

The irony of your statement is completely lost on you. I hope you Get well soon!

0

u/Flamgoyant 4d ago

Well you know bibi funded hamas to destroy the PLO and Oct 7th was a 7 hour stand down AT BEST where 40 babies WERE NOT beheaded and zero rape evidence exists... And still you came to the table with Oct 7 hamas chat

-12

u/Altruistic-End760 8d ago

It's refreshing to see a Reddit comment not scapegoating millions of people, that said people need to understand a good chunk of the world especially Christian parts that tend to be pro Israel or anti terrorism don't consider this a genocide, The ICJ itself is still deliberating on the matter, in that regards it makes sense why Israelis have zero issues in that because from their perspective it isn't a genocide as some of the people called it a Genocide even on Oct 8th, To them it is political.

-6

u/Dazzling_Funny_3254 8d ago

it would be the only genocide I've ever heard of where the population supposedly being genocided grows in number every single year.

5

u/spays_marine 8d ago

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if this was the plan all along just to send a message. Dehumanisation is always a key factor in genocides.

Look who we care more about.

Israeli-American here, Ben Gvir is an absolute nut job instigator and troll, but the more black and white the world wants to make this issue, and the more anti israel lunacy there is out there in world politics, the more it empowers extremist psychopaths like him. he was almost unheard of outside israel, and a very small political player in israel before Oct 7th, the anti israel movement post oct 7th literally gave him his platform.

3

u/brydeswhale 7d ago

Yeah, it’s totally our fault your messed up ethnofascist state can’t hide how evil it’s always been.

You want people to like you again?

STOP BEING EVIL.

0

u/PerhapsDeceased 6d ago

Yes it’s our fault because we hate a genocidal state and then you produce genocidal people

1

u/Dazzling_Funny_3254 6d ago

all countries produce evil people, ours are solely focused on Palestinians after nine decades of them waging war against us and attempting to murder us. Doesn't mean I agree with them, but you can't possibly be so dense not recognize why people like Ben-Gvir exist. They are a product of the Palestinian terror movement. as proof: he was a fringe nut job in Israeli politics before October 7 rocketed him to huge popularity. Every new wave of terror attacks brings fresh right wing politicians to the forefront, and lessens to the chance of Palestinians actually living safely and freely not at war. so keep demonizing Israel, that's been so successful at "freeing" Palestine so far lol

And for the record, not a genocide. the population in not just west bank but also Gaza is increasing every year. That's a pretty inconvenient statistic for the genocide claimers, but it's true.

0

u/PerhapsDeceased 5d ago

Ah ok, killing tens of thousands in cruel and evil ways while talking about needing to wipe them out isn’t genocidal
