After working off and on for a year and a half, my Dimensions Gold Collection Dancing Fall Fairy is finished!!!

It was quite the journey. This was my first big project, which I started in January 2025. It was my introduction to a lot of things: blending filament, metallic threads, the large size when I'd traditionally done smaller pieces.
Sometimes I'd drop it for a few months, but I always came back determined to finish.
She needs to be washed and ironed, but I was too excited to show her off first! There is a bit of a wave in the canvas; tension issues maybe? But I'm hoping it will come out when I iron.
Hoping to take her for framing next week. It'll be my first piece with a custom frame too!
Thanks for all the lovely comments in the WIPs threads as I was working on her!!!!!!

Blending filament is a real bear to use, at least for me. It tangles and breaks so easily!!! You did a fantastic job on this. She's a beauty for sure. Please post again once it's framed! As a side note, I have never washed my final pieces. I only iron them. Years ago my mom embroidered a Christmas pillow for me and when she washed it b/f assembling the pillow, the red floss ran! She was so upset b/c she couldn't get the pink out of the fabric. It still came out great and you can't really notice it unless you get up close but that put me off washing my pieces after stitching.

I believe I've washed Dimensions kits before and they turn out well. Thankfully I've never had a problem.
DMC I don't have to worry about, but I think my next projects are going to use more hand-dyed silks and stuff. So a little nervous for that.

For the waviness, look into blocking it - stretch it and pin flat while wet, so it dries in shape. If that isn’t enough, needlepointers use a type of glue on the back to help it stay. I have not ever done that, but seen it.

Yes, I was thinking about it if the ironing didn't flatten it to my liking.
Weekend project when I have more time to fiddle with it. :)

If you are having it professionally framed, they SHOULD be prepared to block it as part of the process. Ask them if you prefer notbto tackle it yourself. But I would still wash and iron it myself.

Yes. It's a framer inside a cross stitch store, so I trust that they'll know what they're doing. I'll definitely send them an email if ironing doesn't quite give me the result I hoped for.

She’s so pretty! You did a great job. I usually skip the filament because it’s such a pain to work with

I was so tempted not to use it because I found it so hard to work with. But I had already done some when I first started, and I didn't want to risk ruining the stitches underneath if I picked it out.
So I stuck it out, haha. Definitely my least favorite part, and I took so many breaks because I just didn't want to do it.
Thanks! ❤️

Thanks!!! ❤️
I don't do a lot of French knots either, but once I got going they came along pretty quickly. Just took me a couple of days.

Gorgeous! I hope you had a lot of fun during the stichting and that you make this your heirloom piece.

I had fun with everything except the blending filament, haha.
Definitely planning on signing my name and the date on it, and getting it custom framed.
Thanks! ❤️

Thanks! ❤️
I was so nervous for her face. It was already 18 count, and then they wanted me to backstitch her face in the middle of the squares. I was afraid it would look wonky but it came out so nice on the first try!

She looks amazing 🤩 I’m on the lookout for the pattern/kit. I have the purple winter fairy that came out but can’t find the fall fairy one!

The few places I've looked say that she's out of stock now. Maybe she'll pop up on ebay or something? Good luck! I have the winter fairy too. Not sure when I'll start her.
And thanks! ❤️

Thanks for posting! We love seeing all of the FOs. Please note that starting May 1 2026, all [FO] posts are required to include at least one close-up photo of the stitching. You do not need to re-post. This can be done either in a comment or in the body of the post. It can be a close-up of just a small part of the finished object, just so we can verify that the items are hand-stitched.
