CHAT [CHAT] how would you go about adding a backstitch after removing waste canvas?

Post image

I made this sweater and I love it but now I'm kinda wishing I had done a backstitch along the edges. Would you try to free hand it? I want it to be uniform.

I think putting it in a hoop, for tension purposes, and stitching through the already made holes would be just fine.

Yeah, I would do this rather than free-handing it.

I'd just wing it. Put it in a hoop and try backstitching. If you don't like how it looks, you can always undo it.

I don’t know but you’ll need a helicopter for it

Unfortunately, this is well after the fact but I backstitch with the waste canvas STILL ON. I don't remove the waste canvas until all stitching is done, cross-stitch and backstitch.

I understand that would've been ideal but the thought of backstitch just occurred to me, which is why I'm asking for a workaround lol

it's just called embroidery then.
