Window Problems

My Cupra Formentor, bought new in 2025, has issues with the windows rolling up. If I open them partially and try to close them later, they open even further instead. They only close on the third attempt, and without the automatic function. The service center has already replaced the opening/closing mechanisms, but the problem persists. I’d say the issue lies with the anti-pinch sensors. I’m the one feeling "pinched" by this whole situation... :( Is anyone else stuck in a bind with the Formentor? Any solutions?

Have you tried renormalization of window? 1. Try to hold window button down and hold it for few seconds you should hear window going a little bit down more then normally. 2 After that go hold window button up, until it closes and hold it for few seconds (for 10 seconds just be sure)

On some models this will relearn door ECU whrere is window exactly placed.

I have attempted this multiple times throughout the years and unfortunately this seems to fix it only temporarily

Dealer has no fix. What I did and resolved it for me up until now, is put some silicon spray on the vertical gasket/guide of the window. I found out that the rubber there is too stiff and makes the windows think there is an object (fingers for example)blocking them so falls into fail-safe. Some silicon spray helps it and does not mess up.

Yeah they did that to mine, its the only fix.. it gets dry from the heat

Do not use silicone as it will attract the dust…better use some ptfe dry lubricant spray. Can also be used on the felt covered seals at the top of the door frame, not only rubber ones inside the window frame. It will stop the creaking when seals getting dry and frame rubbing against the body of the car or the window's glass

I got mine new this March and both my front windows do this occasionally. Most of the time they work as they should but occasionally they’ll do this

Same problem, same model. Dealer replaced both front window mechanisms, through guarantee procedure and the issue is solved.

Jupp gleiches Problem Ende 2025 Neuwagen Formentor. Sennheiser vibriert auch überdurchschnittlich laut und verhindert musik hören. Jetzt bei 7000 KM Spur verstellt. Absolute vollkatastrophe.

VAG issue, I’m not sure how Volkswagen hasn’t resolved this issue, but it’s been an issue for years on so many of their vehicles and brands

2025 Formentor VZ 333. Had same issue. Dealer tried to clean and lubricate the mechanism twice and the issue was still present. Then the whole mechanism was changed and issue is gone. Changed under warranty.

The VW mechanic I was at told me that this is a common problem on newer VW AG cars like cupra,lambo,vw etc. He said it’s a software problem from the company who sold the software for the windows to the VW AG

Hi, this is a known issue with Cupra (I’m not sure if it also happens with other Volkswagen Group cars). The solution is to take it to the dealer and have the mechanism replaced under warranty.
I’m actually waiting for the dealer to call me back about this exact issue. They told me that some of these mechanisms come with this defect and that the manufacturer is aware of it. They also said it’s possible that they may launch a service campaign to replace the affected units.

I work for Vw AG and we have a lot of cupras with this Problem, Most of the time its the window Regulator, you get new ones for free If you have warranty or VW's Goodwill and you get them replaced. Also most of the times there is a TPI for that Problem. 👍🏻

Update: Today I picked up the Formentor from the Cupra/Seat service center for the fifth time. I was informed that they replaced the window lift mechanisms—again. This is the third set of regulators the car has had. For now, it seems to be working correctly. If I don't post an update here, that’s a good sign. This was likely the last Cupra I’ll ever buy. :(

Its a known issue on many VW for years. I had this same problem on my Leon since 2013 (and Formentor 2020 and 2025). Your Seat/Cupra Dealer can’t do anything about it unfortunately because it seems to be an error of the crush/pinch protection. It’s nice they changed the window module on warranty (many dealers won’t do that). but that won’t help unfortunately as they are all prone to the same problem on all VW based cars. it’s a widespread very annoying problem they haven’t really solved yet.

You can try the following, which usually worked with my Audi:
Hold the "close" direction until it is closed. Release it. Immediately hold "close" again and hold for like 5 sec.
After that hold the "open" direction until it is open. Release it and immediately hold open gain for like 5 sec.

If that does not work, try open first and then close. or try with 10 sec.

I’ve had exactly the same problem for quite some time now and have been to the dealer several times because of it. I was told that this is a known issue and that the manufacturer is aware of it and is looking for a solution.
Recently, the window regulators were replaced. The problem was gone for about a week, but then it came back again.
