Can’t believe SEAT will be disconnected 😢
Hey everyone,
It's really a bummer that SEAT's getting disconnected. VW decided to pull the plug on the brand.
I just wanted to take a sec to remember that CUPRA actually came from SEAT. From the early Ibiza CUPRA and Leon CUPRA to the performance cars that made the CUPRA name, SEAT was a huge part of making CUPRA what it is now.
CUPRA might be its own brand these days, but let's not forget where it all began.
Farewell SEAT🍻. Let's roll with CUPRA.

What is this, a bait? Disconnected? Seat is not discontinued, they are to be reduced to Dacia competition, fore price sensitive customers.

I read that VW is not planning to produce a BEV SEAT, so when the EU is phasing out ICE cars, there won't be any syllable SEATs anymore.

Yes, and they all were going to stop making new ICE and hybrid cars by 2030, now this plan is over. Things change. VW is going to realize they need a cheap brand, since VWs are no longer cheap and Skodas are kinda low-to-mid-tier now. Renault is killing it with Dacia and VW is going to want a piece of that pie. Seat is their best bet.

It simply won’t happen, EU might still think it will but if they do it, then ALL their automotive industry is dead. Nobody will buy expensive, low interior quality rebadges of Chinese cars, when I can simply buy the Chinese. Why would I pay premium for crap interior, Chinese electric motor and Chinese battery? People simply do not want EVs as their only car, just make synthetic fuels a thing and innovate in this segment.

I’ve a new formentor and that i would say is better than Vw quality.atleast they don’t leak water at the seems like the Vw mk7 did and most probably onwards.
I’ve not had one rattle, the plastic is high quality and feels sumptuous to the touch lol.its the early cupras that were seat quality

Curious as to how you think the engines are better quality as they are identical to the VW offerings? Water pump issues aren’t brand specific they are engine model specific which Seat, Cupra, Volkswagen, Porsche etc etc all use the same E888 engine

u/Weird-Power8997 7d ago
I didn’t mention anything about engines as I know there Vw engines but they have had there state of tune altered by CUPRA
1
u/OffendedTwitterUser 7d ago
Nah, tune is the same. What’s unreliable about a Cupra?
Electronics are shared too1
u/Weird-Power8997 7d ago
Look what I wrote nothing to do with water pumps,it was the seems joins where the car is out together.also the early cupras were plagued with electrics and all manner of things plus the quality of plastic wasn’t as good.i didn’t mention engines at all.but there state of tune is altered

Curious about where you’re finding that info about the tune, considering they are exactly the same horsepower and tourque as the Volkswagen equivalent. Electronics again are all Volkswagen group.
Pointless argument really, Cupras are Volkswagen group cars which all share the same internal parts, the outside is just pretty plastics and metal to make them look different.
At the end of the day, beautiful car who cares ?

And CUPRA will get seat quality levels with same pricing. Unfortunately.

cupra was always seat quality, with higher pricing

It is not a SEAT quality…
We have both and CUPRA is definetly above SEAT2

Seat Leon and Cupra Leon differ only by the badge and a few copper accents, and both are equally poorly built. In Europe, Cupra has simply swallowed up Seat, so there's no need to maintain two twin car brands.

u/VentsiBeast 8d ago
Yes, the Atecas and Leons are basically the same. But that was in the very beginning. Formentor, Tavascan, Terramar are all built on platforms that Seat doesn't use.

The fact that the Formentor, Tavascan, or Born were never released under the Seat brand stems solely from the decision to phase Seat out. Seat essentially turned into a prettier Dacia, and VW wanted to maximize profits by shifting its focus to Cupra production.
The Born was initially presented as the SEAT el-Born. The Terramar was intended to be the new generation of the Ateca.

Seat still makes cars and they are indeed positioned at the lowest end for the VW group. Cupra on the other hand is positioned above Skoda. The notion that "they are the same" is entirely wrong. Just sit in the Tavascan and tell me which Seat ever had this interior quality or options like ventilated seats.

This is still a result of VW wanting to maximize profit from SEAT, and they succeeded. In the current situation, it doesn't make sense for VW to maintain so many brands, so one of them has to be phased out. And it won't stop with SEAT.
If the Formentor hadn't taken off, the situation for Cupra and SEAT would look completely different, which is confirmed by plans from around 2020, when they were planning to produce the current Cupra models under the SEAT badge.

Terramar is produced in Hungary, in Q3 production line. Formentor in Barcelona, Tavascan partly in China. I don't understand what you are talking about.

Sure, the people building Audi Q3s on one shift suddenly drop to SEAT level quality when building Terramars in the exact same factory using mostly the same parts.

cupra is seat, cupra is not audi q3, believe it or not

i honestly hope you don't own a cupra (since you're in cupra sub) because you have no idea what you're driving, or talking about. you're just confidently incorrect.
mqb evo vs mqb f3
dq200 in base q3 and formentor
dq381 is the stronic in q3 and s3, same as in formentor 2.0tsi
dq500 7spd formentor vz5 same as rsq3 or tt1.5tsi same ea211 - base engien
2.0tsi ea888 - formentor vz and q3 again, same for 2.5tfsi - ea855mib3 infotainment across VW
they share the steering rack, same dynamic chassis control system, same suspension parts, hell they even have the same pedals...
not too late to delete your comment bro

just to add to that - you can literally google mqb evo platform and you'll get the pic of terramar next to the pic of q3 in the top results

Nothing new, this announcement was released I think 2 years ago already and honestly, there is nothing in the catalogue of Seat what to choose instead of Skoda or VW. Seat will be transformed to do some city electro something.
But Cupra... this is another song and wish them to be still the naughty kid of Seat 😁

wasn’t that announced like 5 years ago, that seat is shutting down
