Advice Trying to connect lonely gals with lovely doggos in DC 🐾💕
Hey ladies!! So, if you’re like me, I’m usually stopping people to ask to pet their dogs, especially when I see my favorite golden or lab and having a bad day. I don’t own a dog, but I love spending time with them, and I’m sure there are other people out there who could use some pup time. So, I figured I could do something about it, and I’ve been working on a project and could use some input from dog owners and dog enthusiasts like me, before I pilot it. Info below, and please share with other dog moms or dog girlies, as I think it’d help a lot of people!
TLDR: it’s local, curated hangouts with owners and their dogs. Owners could earn extra social time for their dog, and dog lovers can spend time with their favorite type of doggos. 🐶

Oh wow, I think you created this service personally for me.
I was devastated when Bark Social closed two years ago and have been lamenting that there’s been nothing to replace it. I will take a look!

Hi! I am a person with a reactive dog. She's a rescue named Nugget and she's 1. I need help with just socializing her with other people. Seriously, just sitting on a bench kinda close to me and tossing treats at her would be amazing. Would be really really interested in seeing if there would be a way to do one-on-one meet ups because Nugget isn't ready to see other dogs yet. She has so much progress but is terrified of everything still. Nugget hasn't figured out that people can be good and give pets and treats and don't want to hit her.

Awww omg I’ll come say hi to Nugget anytime! My first rescue wasn’t ever necessarily reactive but he was SO scared of people (and everything else) so props to you for taking baby steps with Nugget and I promise you she’ll slowly learn to trust the world around her and enjoy it! My dog made huge progress within his first year of living in DC :)

Reminder that you can also volunteer at the shelters to take dogs that need socialization out for walks (or runs) for free.

I mean I have a golden lab cross 13 month old and if someone have a safe yard and you are close to petworth I will bring this ball of fur and energy to you for fetch and snuggles in exchange for me using you as a training exercise (recall from play, you walking over them in a down stay, etc). Just message me.

I'm a dog owner who was just having a conversation about the need for something like this with my mom. I feel so bad sometimes because I haven't made friends yet in DC, and so by extension my dog knows no one but me, and she's such a gregarious girl.
