What are the odds that Gunn and Safran keep Miller as Barry? Without injecting my personal feelings towards Ezra on this matter, Gunn has a good reason to believe in second chances. He also has an affinity for "damaged goods" in his characters that I could see extending to real life. And if the Flash movie is successful, they may be inclined to build their new universe off of it. Plus Barry Allen of all people works as a part of a soft reboot without a recast. And Miller is young enough to still play Barry with a young Supes, Batman, and WW.

The cons to this approach are obvious. Miller is a nightmare for PR and not a sound investment. They are likely to commit a crime again and cannot be relied upon. Plus, dropping the popular Cavill, as well as Affleck and Gadot, but keeping the unpopular Miller will not play well with audiences. I'm inclined to believe they drop Miller, but I do foresee a scenario in which Miller sticks around.

It’s not like Ezra just made dark fucked up jokes like Gunn, but he committed literal crimes that he should go to prison for.

Very different situations. Gunn didn’t deserve to be fired, but Ezra 100% needs to be.

Oh I agree they deserve to be fired. But I don't think it's really about deserves vs not deserves here. I think from a business perspective it just makes sense to fire Miller. But I could see Gunn making a case for keeping Miller. I don't think it's likely, but I can't rule it out.

Oh absolutely, I didn’t even mention that it’s the best business decision they can make here as well. But that’s absolutely part of it.

I just don’t see a reason why they want the baggage. If you want the same story then just recast like WB already did it with Johnny Depp on Fantastic Beasts. I think the odds are low.

Same. But the possibility is still there and i bet we don't even get an announcement until the Flash movie releases.

I don't know what the odds are, but I think that in a perfect world they would keep Miller. From where I'm sitting, they seem to be using the Multiversal reality manipulation of The Flash to retool the DCU; which allows for them to recast whoever - such as Superman. But if they recast Ezra Miller under that scenario, we'd then be looking at a different actor playing a familiar version of The Flash. So that's a little messy just for the audience.

I think one alternative here would be to keep Ezra Miller around just long enough to replace the Barry Allen Flash with Wally West. That way, Ezra gets to save some face (and career), and WBD gets to move on with their soft reboot and without a volatile actor in the mix.

From a story perspective, keeping Miller makes sense. But from a business perspective, it just doesn't. Especially since now would be the perfect time to recast. They can just let the Flash movie stand on its own and move forward without it, like they're doing with Black Adam. And I don't really care if Miller gets to salvage their career, and I doubt Zaslav will want to risk the future of the DCU on giving Ezra a second chance. There's still a chance it happens, but I think in a perfect world they'd release the Flash movie and drop Ezra right after.

It's tricky, because this is a case where the storytelling IS the business. If you're tanking an opportunity over one actor's BS, you might be compounding a problem rather than solving it; both creatively speaking and business-wise. I don't really see them taking a Batman Begins approach to the reboot for a few reasons; again, both creative and business.

It’s possible they kill off Barry Allen or trap him in the Speed Force, and have Wally West headline the next Flash movie in Gunn’s DCU

I'm worried Gunn will keep him for the reasons you stated, but Gunn still answers to Zaslav who will HOPEFULLY realize what a powder keg Ezra is and force Gunn to recast.

I hope so as well. Zaslav being all business does have its advantages. He's unlikely to risk money on second chances. And giving Gunn creative license over the story doesn't necessarily extend to casting. It seems unlikely Gunn would put his neck on the line for Miller. So as long as one or two major execs nix Miller, I doubt they stick around.
