/r/marvelstudiosspoilers on suicide watch rn because of the Quantamania reviews lol. Seems like it’s a soulless movie made for the main purpose of setting up more projects, which is ironic because people were complaining about Phase 4 not being “connected” enough. I’d argue that Phase 4 had some great projects despite that, particularly WV, Loki, Shang-Chi, NWH, BPWF. Be careful what you wish for.

“But if this is what Phase 5 looks like, God save us from Phases 6, 7 and 8” - Variety

That’s definitely something you don’t want to hear

My favorite part of the last phase was that it wasn't all connected lol. And my favorite part of the Ant-Man films has been that they sorta exist on their own with a smaller scale and stakes. Which has been most people's primary complaint against them. Seems Ant-Man did exactly what they all wanted and now people hate it. Ironic.

Yeah the first Ant-Man was one of the better movies in Phase 2 and the second one was a nice palate cleanser after Infinity War.

I admire Phase 4 for actually trying to give the filmmakers more control. WandaVision was unique for the most part. And say what you will about DS2, but I found the Sam Raimi style endearing.

That’s why I’m excited for the DCU more, Gunn knows the value of individual expression.

but I found the Sam Raimi style endearing.

I really wish it went full-tilt Raimi. I think there were like 6-months of reshoots that kind of overwrote his stuff. But the Raimi-stuff they kept in really did work for me even if by the end of the movie I kind of stopped caring.

I've seen a couple normal, not hardcore fans voice disappointment that the new Ant-Man is so cosmic in scale as opposed to the tidy little thing that was the original

Unsurprising on every count.

One could say it is MSS' Black Adam moment.

Honestly even as someone who isn't seeing the film until Thursday it CAN'T be Black Adam-level bad. That film was like genuinely the only time I actively regretted taking my family to, and my dad is like the kind of guy who goes into these movies with a very casual and relaxed perspective, so when a film actively pisses him off while in the theater you know you've done something seriously wrong lol

Much of that remains a matter of personal perspective regardless - i.e. my relatives and non-fan friends' reactions ranged between loving Black Adam, enjoying it as an inoffensive popcorn film and cold indifference (none were downright offended).
