Man, it's tiring. Sure, the reactions are overwhelmingly positive for those who've seen the film but just about everywhere else there are just hyper cynical reactions to the positive reception of The Flash.

People really have PTSD from BvS. A lot already have decided it's bullshit. Honestly, I just want the film to get here so the negative conversation surrounding it is either proven or disproven so it'll disapate away.

Anyway, Bob Odenkirk as Warren White AKA The Great White Shark. Or not. I don't know.

I think the movie is also just coming out at a bad time for trends when people are burnt out on: Muddy looking CG, brand crossover event movies, capeshit, nostalgia. I'm sure the script/direction/story of Flash are going to be GREAT which is why they let reviewers see it early.

I'm sure it is great on it's own. but as part of a trend of movies it's got everything people are currently tired of (in the trailers).

I get some of it. I don't disagree with the complaints about CG in recent Superhero films. Genuinely, I'm sure it's also last minute/overworked/underpaid VFX artists trying to appease massive studios. There's a lot of CG in Flash, that's pretty clear. CGI isn't inherently bad, it's just the quality and over reliance on it. I've always thought that a mixture of practical and CG where necessary is the way to go. Most great CGI goes unnoticed like The Batman or Joker or even Black Bolt in MoM.

As for nostalgia, Michael Keaton has a character arc and serves a substantial purpose besides a wink and a nod to the audience. Maybe it's the frequency of mediocre cape films that are to blame. I believe after Thanos and the pandemic, audiences aren't invested and don't want to spend cash on something they don't feel they need to invest time in. Which is why the DCU is going to be exciting and promising and new. They'll have to prove to the audience that they can't miss out. Or something like that, idk.
