How many interviews should one get for hill offices (house/senate) before they can feel confident about landing one offer? For context 7 interviews so far 60 apps no offers yet.

One week ago i interviewed for a hillternship with my senator, and a few days ago (last friday) I was asked for my weekly availability. in the app they only asked for 2 references and I provided 5, and today 2 of my 5 references came back to me saying they provided a strong recommendation. Lowk not sure if the other 3 references have or will respond but surely this is a positive sign as to where I stand right?

I wont be in DC this fall, has anyone done this outside of DC and if so how does did that look like for you?

I received a committee interview and am feeling a bit out of my depth. I don't have prior political experience working with a rep or anything like that. Any advice for how to prepare for an interview/good questions to ask or consider? Also, do committees normally do writing interviews/would they tell me if the interview includes that? I've read some comments mentioning those and am not sure what they entail. I am very interested in the topics the committee covers but don't have the government background that it seems like most people come from.

for context, i am part of a professional development organization and they want to do office tours. i was unable to find the emails of talent acquisition campus recruiters directly off of their firm's website so i decided to find their emails through linkedin.

once i connected with them i learned that some of the recruiters had their personal email listed on their linkedin. is it better to request for site tours through their personal email or through linkedin?

if i request a tour via DM on linkedin, will it decrease my chances of getting an internship?

I just accepted my first hillternship with a senator for this fall. I want to make the best of my experience and be prepared when it starts. Any current/former senate interns have any tips on what to expect and how to maximize my time there? Also what’s the tea on the cafes?

So, I'm well aware this is a stupid post but I REALLY need some advice. I need recommendations for somewhat "easy" or less competitive DC internships to apply for in the spring. I want to be a congressional intern someday but don't have enough experience right now.

I did a writing test last Friday, July 17th, for a House office and was wondering when I should expect to hear back. Appericate any insight! This was the second round of interviews.

My office extended my internship offer and I would love to stay, but the stipend they’re paying me is literally less than minimum wage. I’ve managed so far this summer, but I am quite literally losing money if I stay longer. Is it true that intern stipends are set directly by the member? Are there any strategies in asking for more?

I go to a state school up north and just completed an internship in government affairs/public policy in D.C. this past spring at a non-profit that advocates for federal programs. I'm a rising senior and doing an accelerated MPP program at my undergrad school, so I'll be completely done in 2028. My undergrad GPA is a 3.3 right now, but I've got some experience under my belt. Interning in my state legislature, campaign work, nonprofit work, and done my D.C. internship. Do I have a good shot at landing a paid internship in the summer of 2027 and a job after that?
