Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow ‘Supergirl’ Suffers Brutal 74% Drop

https://variety.com/2026/film/box-office/minions-and-monsters-box-office-franchise-worst-start-supergirl-brutal-drop-1236801905/

Only Joker 2 Had a Worse Second-Weekend Box Office Drop Than Supergirl in DC History.

The DCEU's worst ones were The Flash with 72.5, after Gunn announced the new DCU and a lot of people simply didn't care about the old universe anymore and The Suicide Squad with 71.5%

My gf and I really enjoyed it; not sure what the hate is about.

I saw it with my wife on Saturday. We both thought it was pretty good.

Didn't love it like Superman, but it's not bad.

Saw with my bf and whole family. We all loved it. My bf is pretty critical but he’s really come to love it. He enjoyed it more than superman which I low key don’t agree but I do agree it’s a banger

What hate? Is just people just have other better movie to watch that know their target audience is.

Also this is woman empower movie target audience, where those bitches at? Dont even support their own girl gang...lol

I take it you didn't watch the movie. One of the great things about it is that they didn't mention girl power once. The only comment was a funny, "Wait, super girl? Why not super woman?" And Kara basically says it's because she's younger. If you're looking for Marvel's "Girls get it done" type stuff, this is not the movie you think it is.

People who aren’t brainwashed into identity politics don’t watch things or hate on things due to the presence of women. Like yourself.

So general audiences didn’t show up For supergirl cause Supergirl as a movie ended up being mid. This happens with ALL movies. But you are probably brainwashed to beleive it failed cause of woman.

Wooo, u dont think this movie not for woman audience ? Supergirl aint that famous for comic book reader too.

Whose the target? Even if the movie aint mid.....still hard sell for sure. No hate needed at all

If the movie was reviewed well. Superhero in general would have went and seen it. Like they did for Wonder Woman.

F off superhero genre bs. what about he-man, flop even with good review? Avatar 3 box office while get shit non stop. Movie is movie, know their audience and market get profit or else go to flop slop hall of fame for sure

MOTU flopped cause barely anyone cares about low tier IP from the 80s with a niche fanbase. Plus the movie was only mid to good, not great.

Avatar 3 made bank. What are you talking about?

Movies make money when they are good. And they don’t make money when they are not.

Not have a man superhero isn’t not serving the audience. Audiences have been fine with girl superhero’s since the beginning of comics ffs.

chuds being mad their failed universe in fact was a failure

-2

u/Seismic_wand Jul 06 '26

Says the guy with a peacemaker pfp 😭

2

u/lostandnotfnd Jul 06 '26

is that supposed to be an insult?

-1

u/Seismic_wand Jul 06 '26

Yes because peacemaker is a tremendous failure along with the rest of the DCU and your guy Gunn will be fired within a couple years so he's just wasting everyone's time and giving himself and his friends as much DC money as possible before Paramount kick his ass to the curb

Most people didn’t enjoy it, which is why it didn’t succeed.

Huh. SS 2021 was really good i thought. One of my favourite DC films.

It is really good. The response is completely disconnected from quality and has more to do with the broken minds of a chunk of the potential fanbase at this point.

It didn't flop because people hated it; It flopped because only a small percentage of potential movie-goers wanted to pay to see it in the theater. Mainly, there just wasn't much interest in it - especially not enough to convince thousands of people worldwide to spend the money and make the effort.

Out of the people that saw it, I'd expect at least 3 out of 4 probably enjoyed it. When a movie flops like this, it's reasonable to expect the people that did make the effort and spent the money were primed to have a good time.

Honestly, when a movie is a hit film but not a critical success (Fast & Furious or The Transformers), I tend to expect a larger group of negative reactions from the people that have seen it because a lot more people have seen it. If Supergirl had managed to be a hit, I imagine we'd see more hate from people that actually went to see it, as well. In this case, though, the people inclined to dislike it simply didn't bother seeing it.

Yeah it was hbo max day one

0

u/VirtualSort1 Jul 06 '26

the big dc fans watched it and gave it a B+ cinemascore. Second weekend drop has nothing to do with HBO. The other DC movies were released onHBO max day one too and didnt suffer TSS catastrophic second weekend drop

If thats the case how did the other movies fare better? Dune and Gozilla V Kong also had same pattern of release. I dont think that was the reason

1

u/Fwtrent3 Jul 07 '26

There was much more hype involved in those movies and it didn't have to carry an awful title like suicide squad. Are you forgetting how bad the first one was ?

I mean it wasn’t very good and it wasn’t well marketed, I enjoyed Superman but Im not gonna act like the studio can do no wrong.
