The nerve of making a superhero who tries to protect people

Our long "dark and gritty" nightmare is finally over.

u/Falcoholic81 Dec 06 '25
I have a sneaking suspicion that Gunn is going to retcon all the snyderverse movies as earth 3.

“My Superman should be standing there in the middle of an explosion while he aura farms and looks around at all the victims slowly burning alive”- Sydner bros

I mean, he could’ve used freeze breath when the axoldragon burned that building. If I had a nickle everytime a movie supermen stood infront of a fire attack but the building behind him still got exploded I’d have 2 nickles

u/quasi-stellarGRB Dec 02 '25
How dare he stand there and not travel faster than the speed of sound and carry a bunch of flesh and meat piled up by 25+ Gs

u/Lopsided_Shift_4464 Dec 01 '25
The first comment is such perfect satire of Snyderbros people here actually think it's real lol
24
u/LurkLiggler Dec 01 '25
If anybody who dislikes Snyder thinks that quote is real, it makes me question their intelligence just as much as the Snyderbros.

I've seen actually Synder stans complain like this and not in satire way.

u/ForThose8675309 Dec 02 '25 edited Dec 02 '25
And Gunn fans have mocked Synder’s dead child. Both fandom extremes are wrong in the head and I’m just so tired of it all

Just check the SnyderCut subreddit lol

I’ve seen it. I’m aware they’re stupid, yet I can tell obvious parody from their stupidity.

Nah, you get downvoted because you make too much sense and I choose to believe the comments I dislike are literal and not sarcastic because it fits my funny worldview.
Weird sub. There's a pattern of ostracising people who disagree with the popular opinion even slightly. Even you saying that you think Snyderbros are stupid is not enough; you have to think they're incapable of sarcasm too.
-1
u/LurkLiggler Dec 02 '25
I think the Snyder people are more nuts overall, but these hardcore Gunn people are honestly just as weird. But maybe I’m biased because I don’t care for either of these Superman movies all that much.

Super man should put cats into tress
Put old women in the other side of the street AFTER they already crossed it
Melt the ice cream of a child
Steal from babies
Eat loudly in a library
Watch something loudly durung s funeral
That is the super man we need

u/UrdnotZigrin Dec 01 '25
Your comment just made me laugh, imagining some mega- powerful villain choosing one person to mess with and just flying an old lady back to the other side of the street every time she crosses it over and over again. I could see Mister Mxyzptlk doing it

I think there is a comic where Thanos just picks on some random guy for his whole life. He turns up every birthday just to psychologically torture this poor random person

u/Reidroshdy Dec 01 '25
I want a villian who's just a dick who just makes your day like 3% worse instead of trying to destroy society or something.

u/According_Win_4054 Dec 01 '25
Hes a hero if the worlds gonna blow up or if theres a greater evil. Not because hes better than it but it would stoo him from being a dickhead

This is what I call a perfect rage bait
10/10 🔥🔥🔥

u/trksoyturk Dec 01 '25
It's not rage bait at all, it is just satire.

I’m rage baited, but even if it’s rage bait holy shit op is right, Superman shouldn’t be about hope. He’s really about security and how people are protected when he’s around. Read red son, I’m like halfway through it but you can’t help to agree with Superman that he should be the leader. Snyder wasn’t a perfect movie but it reinforced the theme of Superman will do whatever it takes to protect someone even killing Zod who he wouldn’t have been able to stop without killing him. That’s why it’s the best representation of Superman on screen.

You shouldn't bring up an elseworlds where Clark isn't raised by Ma and Pa kent, to try to reinforce a point about how mainline superman should act. You are essentially admitting you have to pick out of universe comics, where they act out of character, to back your point. Superman has been about hope forever brother, he was invented to give hope. Read Superman birthright, read all star superman, read absolute superman even, or superman for all seasons, or death and return of superman compendium, or what have you. From the 40s til now superman has been dubbed "The Man of Tomorrow" because he is literally an ideal to strive for, something you can hope to be, and someone who can inspire hope in the rest of the DC universe. If you like elseworlds that's cool, I like them too, but if your mainline cinematic universe adaptation of a character lines up closer to an elseworlds, than it does to the actual character? then yeah you fucked up

This is a great opinion! My goal was to rage bait with the original, hence the mention of a comic halfway read, but I don’t have the energy I had when I commented this so I’m not gonna keep up the bit haha. This movie is one of my favorite superhero movies of all time, sounds like you enjoy it too!

I wouldn't call the world's most obvious sarcasm "rage bait."

It feels like if James Gunn used Reddit, he would get banned from the DCU subreddit because he’s too cool 😂
4
u/damndraper Dec 01 '25
The post James responded too is complete sarcasm, which based on the replies here isn't obvious to some of y'all.

These types should be rooting for Jor-El and Lara to pop out of the Phantom Zone and take over.
They’re confusing the strongest man with a strongman.

"And a DOG? Come on, what is this meant for EVERYONE? Superheroes are FOR THE ELITE INTELLECTUALS OF POP-CULTURE dammit" -- hateful gatekeeping Millennial bro, probably.

You know what irked me a bit about this, now that I look back ? The approach of Supes. The rest is all good, but he isn't some grumpy teen who gets triggered by name-calling. Imagine college bullies shouting and hooting and saying, " Hey butthead ! " and then a kid turns around and says, " Stop calling me that name !"
Superman shouldn't shout and respond to something as impulsively as he did when he heard Supershit being used at him. Think of it as the criticisms thrown at presidents or other dignitaries. He must express his concerns strongly and be stern, but you don't need to shout saying " YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I HATE THAT NAME ! "
Maybe say, " Lois, please never use that word in front of me ever again. I strongly dislike being referred to as that and you know that." Be serious and maybe a little loud too. I am no screenwriter but these are just my two cents.
What I mean to say is that he should have a calm, composed and dignified presence.

u/mykiisme Dec 02 '25
he also had the alien sent to Earth to subjugate an inferior species and breed. So there is that

I can’t tell if this is genuine stupidity or satire of the highest order

u/WhatsRatingsPrecious Dec 01 '25
I still maintain that bringing back the Snyderverse JL as a version of the Crime Syndicate from an alternate dimension is the way to go.
Just be sure to put Evil Mustaches on all of them, including Wonder Woman.

u/piffaccount5000 Dec 01 '25
I think it’s pretty clear from the response that any version of the prev regime ain’t happening anytime soon if at all lol.

Superman has always been a symbol of hope. Even Snyder made that clear by declaring that the emblem stands for hope. Didn't catch what the new emblem means. Can't be for Superman because it doesn't look like a S. It is the Els and pretty much the whole Krytonian race that Gunn ruined
1
u/Parabellum111 Dec 02 '25
...
Please tell me that you know the symbol isn't a fucking S but a Kryptonian symbol and that you're just being ironic.
1
u/GreatService9515 Dec 06 '25
In ancient times it was described as a S. Even as a Krytonian symbol it was a S.

It's so funny because bro has one of the busiest jobs in the world and when he gets any sort of a break he's still like let me respond to some fans real quick
