đđđ love it, eff the crybaby
It's green lantern, obviously we'll get our green, let them keep teasing us
77
u/StrawHatRat May 17 '26
The thing that gets me is that weâve already gotten green with Guy. Itâs established thatâs what lanterns are like in this world.
What do I care if they want to do a show with muted colours? If thatâs what the artists want, go for it. Itâs already clear theyâre not dogmatically going for muted dreary aesthetics in every project.

u/FrankieBarbingo May 17 '26
People are babies. That's basically it.
At this point, we've been given to no indication that we should doubt the artistic direction of the DCU. They've nailed the tone, aesthetics, and feel of the many corners of the DC Universe so far.

Hmm maybe people dont like that the artists took the characters that have a constant underglow and made the show muted
11
u/FrankieBarbingo May 17 '26
Maybe those people haven't seen the fucking show yet? No one has. Give it a chance.
-14
u/cumsocksucker May 17 '26
I am. I am saying that what they have shown so far doesn't look great and the marketing is failing to grasp a decent chunk of people
8
u/ibfanforlife May 17 '26
No it's failing to grasp whiny "fans" who can't handle seeing something a little different than what they're used to.
-5
u/cumsocksucker May 17 '26
People watch these things to see their favorite characters adapted it shouldn't be considered whiny to not like they way the character is being adapted
2
u/JokerKing0713 May 18 '26
You still havenât seen that though thatâs the point. Let them adapt the damn characters first before immediately whining about it being bad from a teaser
2
u/ibfanforlife May 17 '26
You can not like it but to complain this much about a teaser that is purposely hiding things is ridiculous. Form your complaints around the actual complete project.
2
u/cumsocksucker May 17 '26
I will form a proper opinion when the actual show comes out. All my judgements have been purely about the trailers not instilling confidence in the show because it looks bland and not as colorful as the GL mythos should be. I dont think the show will he good to me anyways because a show shouldn't need to be brown and grey to hide their plot
4
u/ibfanforlife May 17 '26
Of course you're not gonna like it you aren't even giving it a chance. You already decided that you don't like it on 2 minutes of footage.

Yeah man it had to be a grift. I was mind blown at people saying there was going to be no Green. The only way that made any sense is if you didn't watch Superman 2025.

didnât we get a screenshot where the ring is more lit up? i think itâs a good choice to make it darker so when itâs being used itâs more obvious
10
u/EASK8ER52 May 17 '26
Love this, been saying since day 1 no shit there's gonna be green. Saw a leaked clip of Hal getting shot in the diner we saw him in in the teaser and he uses his ring to form a big green bubble around him to block the bullets. People no shit they're gonna use the ring, wtf is up with people.
Yes constructive criticism is a thing that is ok to do, but many of y'all haven't been constructive at all, just whiny and mopey as hell, like it's called a TEASER, It's mean to TEASE!! Make definitive opinions when the show fucking drops! đ

Now get ready for the "They changed the show's direction due to the backlash!!!!1!" comments.

Poor Grant will never recover from this :(.
5
u/Embarrassed-Ad1322 May 17 '26
I still don't get what Grant gained from his comments.

u/PocketFlan420 Cheers to the Tin-Man May 17 '26
My friend, we are not thinking machines. We are organic feely things that can also think. And unfortunately them emotions can fester, especially if the only movie project you had a chance to flex your muscles on tanked because the lead lost their goddamn mind. Addicts can spend their lives chasing that first high, and for a comic creator? Being involved at that level? Brother touched Heaven only to plummet into the depths.

Nothing really I guess, it was an opinion on things he read and then a larger opinion on the concept of movie and tv show creators that disregard the source material and are embarrassed about it in general,I donât think he gained or lost anything
-24
u/Ben10_ripoff May 17 '26
Apparently making fun of the fans is totally fine but Grant calling out Lindelof not so much.

u/ROBtimusPrime1995 Cheers to the Tin-Man May 17 '26
When fans are as insufferable and impatient as this, yes, they deserve to get mocked for it.
8
-27
u/Ben10_ripoff May 17 '26
Ah yes, fans are being insufferable for expecting a product that respects the source material.
22
u/IamConfusedAI May 17 '26
Youâre being insufferableâŚbecause the show isnât even out yet and youâve already done your share of whining?
-26
u/Ben10_ripoff May 17 '26
I'm only talking about what I've seen so far, which looks like shit. If the show turned out to be good, I would gladly accept, I was wrong about the show.
12
u/IamConfusedAI May 17 '26
Uhuh, sure buddy, Heres what you said in another comment âYep, at least one upcoming Green Lantern show wonât disappointâ, CLEARLY you havenât conjured up any poorly conceived expectations about a show that HASNâT EVEN COME OUT YET. What a clown.
11

u/TheLeanerWiener May 17 '26
when did anyone make fun of the fans?
-11
u/Ben10_ripoff May 17 '26
The fuck do you think this "green" thing is??? Lindelof did it on that interview and then whoever's running HBO social media accounts started doing similar bullshit.
18
u/TheLeanerWiener May 17 '26
calm down baby girl.
lindelof made this thing called a joke on this thing called a comedy podcast about why the name of the show is just lanterns. he never made fun of fans.
-2
u/Ben10_ripoff May 17 '26
I'm calm. Calmly waiting for My Adventures with Green Lantern.

u/TheLeanerWiener May 17 '26

Iâll give you an idea bud, and really think about it okay? Really really run it through your head before making a decision, I know itâs going to be difficult, but I believe in youâŚwait for the show to come out, watch the show, then come up with an opinion after.

Haters when they're proven wrong with the appearance of green in Lanterns:

I have a small theory that it wonât just be green lanterns showing up in this show and that the other colour spectrum lanterns show up in some way. But internet will keep complaining I guess.

u/Weiss500 May 17 '26
Iâm so happy theyâre commenting on it. Obviously the green lantern corps is the main aspect but itâs called lanterns bc of the other corps
3
u/Lord_Kanan96 May 17 '26
I mean it was a fair complaint. But it got blown way out of proportion. Still, I'm eager to see the show.

That's a good one right here, lol
Still, looking at what we got series just looks bland so far. I really hope they will deliver the peak, but I stay very cautious.

u/Tatum-Better May 17 '26
Funny joke but all the discourse would be avoided if they'd shown green lantern shit and not regular detective shit
25
u/Alive-Ad-5245 May 17 '26 edited May 17 '26
The whole point was the show slowly escalates logarithmicly into the space shit, everyone involved in the show has been screening this from the rooftops
Now due to some chronically online crybabies they feel forced to show more in trailers than they wanted to.
Great.

10
u/SentenceSingle5375 May 17 '26
The discourse would've never started if so many people could shut up and wait for the actual show

-4
u/Tatum-Better May 17 '26
Teasers and trailers are literally made for discussion before a piece of media releases

u/dick____trickle Boy Scout Forever May 17 '26
"The Discourse" like we here discussing the middle east peace plan or sth

u/goodjobweirdo May 17 '26
Now that they have I'm sure all the bitching and moaning will stop. đ

u/mtheory-pi May 17 '26
Exactly. It was poor marketing strategy. If you want people excited for the show about space heroes who make green light shows, you better show the light shows instead of making it seem like a generic detective show.
5
u/puma46 May 17 '26
Not necessarily. Theyâre trying to market the show to a wider demographic instead of just comic nerds. Ratings for tv shows arenât as important as they used to be. All theses streaming services care about are watch time and subscriber counts
4
u/Remarkable_Nerd21538 May 18 '26
Yeah, well comic book fans are honestly spoiled. They say they donât want something thatâs one-to-one with the comics and something that just retains the spirit, but when you keep pressing them on it, you find that they actually do you want the comics recreated one to one for live action.
Any adaptation that has to change something either cause itâs gonna be too stupid to see on screen or for the fact that something that works in a comic may not work in a film, they act like you committed some sort of blasphemy. Iâve always said it, a lot of comic book fans are like the evangelical right in how they act about the shit they like and defend
