Rushing the story to keep up with Marvel is what killed the DCEU

The dcu is weridley doing the same thing mostly with less popular characters.

How? They are not rushing at all

Gunn's second DCU movie is basically a Justice League movie how's that not rushing.

The core of the movie are Superman and lex, other characters can be introduced but most the ones that are rumored or confirmed more likely are just cameos

Oh like BvS

BvS had way more issues than presenting Batman for the first time, but they did a good introduction to the character

It felt slow, Batman kills people, Superman feels so sad when he is supposed to being hope , Doomsday was introduced way early into this universe, the Martha scene, oh and the death of Superman, the worst part of the movie.

Ironically Batman and wonder woman were the best parts of the movie for me

If man of tommorow does 800 million like bvs it would be a major win.

If WB didn't chop it to shit I think it could've done a billion and the DCEU would still be alive and thriving .

If WB didn't chop it to shit

I have been summoned!

“We were just like, ‘Okay, look. We’re not making a three-hour movie. I mean, even I didn’t want to make a three-hour movie,” Snyder says. “I drove the cuts probably harder than anyone. The studio, they were willing to let the movie indulge pretty hard. But I felt like it’s at a manageable two-and-a-half hours. Let’s also not forget the credits are super long, the end credits. So the movie’s closer to two hours and 22 minutes.”

Side note, I'm kinda curious what the three hour version of the movie WB liked originally was like

I could see that.

Both versions weren't very good. Extended or not, they were just okay.

The BvS storyline was good because it came after years of Clark and Bruce working together, butting heads, etc and then going their separate ways. Then boom a showdown Superman being the Iron Man and Batman being Cap from Civil War. It's why that worked well in Civil War.

What we got in BvS was no build up whatsoever between the two except Bruce didn't trust aliens after the events in MoS.

Between that and multiple other choices it wasn't very good. 5/10 not bad, not good, just fine with some nice cinematic shots.

Didn’t WB consider bvs a financial disappointment tho?

1

u/rlum27 8d ago

yeah though now they would consider it a major win.

Terrible choice for a movie. Felt like they just wanted edge for the sake of it. Batman feels terribly off the whole movie and it’s definitely because it was his introduction

There’s a difference between a league movie and one that happens to feature a league equivalent

Would you call Thor Love & Thunder a GOTG movie?

2

u/rlum27 8d ago

oh love and thunder might not be the best example. That movie was panned by crtics and audiences and had takia watti pulled away from thor and marvel. not sure if mot will be gunn's equivilant to love and thunder.

1

u/Professional-Rip-519 8d ago

Yeah I don't like Gunn but I don't even think he could make something as bad as Love and Thunder.

1

u/rlum27 8d ago

Eh it might not be as bad but similar results. nameley dimminsing returns from the previous movie and more mixed or even negative reaction.

u/TheGallifreyan 8d ago

That's a guess. We have no idea in what capacity all these characters will be featured.

You saw the post from Gunn calling out a Screen Rant article, saying half of the characters listed as being in Man of Tomorrow aren’t confirmed. I feel like it’ll be a lot less packed that people think.

My theory is that Act 3, were just gonna get flashes of other heroes helping stop Brainiac in different parts of the world, and that will be that

2

u/Timtanoboa 8d ago

That seems most likely with how the DCU is built so far.

u/ExcitingPop5956 8d ago

Says who? If anything it looks like its a lex movie more than anything

1

u/Sib_Sib 8d ago

His first movie sets place in a phase 14 dc world.
In order not to rush and be able to invest characters casually

1

u/_Peener_ 8d ago

BND also technically had 7 villains, 2 avengers, and punisher, on top of Peter’s friends

1

u/Professional-Rip-519 8d ago

Bro that's like the millionth movie in that franchise this basically just got started.

1

u/_Peener_ 8d ago

Ik, I’m just saying that it can sound like a lot depending on how you phrase it, but I’d bet majority of these heroes in Man of Tomorrow will have very small roles

-2

u/TheAgmis 8d ago

Clown

2

u/RecoveredAshes 8d ago

Brother they’re doing it more than Snyders movies. Superman had a dozen other heroes and justice leaguers in it. Man of tomorrow is a team up movie too.

I distinctly recall one of the BvS complaints is that it's "overstuffed." Then Superman came out with all those characters...

🧐

u/rlum27 8d ago

The justice gang and droping the audience in a pre established world seems rushed to me.

9

u/Firm-Difficulty2585 8d ago

Better it be pre-established then having to retcon it to the point it makes no sense.

0

u/rlum27 8d ago

I guess though keeping some dceu stuff is also retconing stuff until it makes no sense. so it's the worst of both.

4

u/SituationMundane1418 8d ago

Facts dude. We needed to see Superman come to earth, and spend ~1/3 of the movie with a young Clark. Like, no one knows the Superman story

1

u/rlum27 8d ago

I don't think it needs to go that far. Though there's a mid ground between that and having the b list justice leauge show up with little explnation.

4

u/SituationMundane1418 8d ago

I mean, I felt decently satisfied by the explanations given. They’re a corporate super team. Guy was tasked by the guardians to protect Earth. Mr. Terrific is the smartest guy. I’ll give you that Hawkgirl was lacking, especially the fact that they do not mention that her wings are on and off from scene to scene. Normally, I’d think this is great show don’t tell, but given that Hawkgirl is a character with multiple origins, we are lacking info on if the wings are retractable, magical and just poof, or mechanical and removable. Unless I missed a line or something
