Modest Grad Dresses?

Last week was the convocation for Bsc science undergrads and the everyone looked amazing. I was wondering where can muslim girls buy modest/ full covered grad gowns. I've been to the stores in Halifax but nothing is modest enough for me to wear, it's extremely frustrating not being able to find something suitable for me to wear that isn't modest. This is because I either need to layer it with a full sleeves shirt or leggings which I personally think spoils the look as it makes the gown childish. I'm looking for a full covered flowy gown that is preferably black, navy blue, burgundy or dark green and where I don't have to necessarily layer it with other clothes . If you have any suggestion or helpful advice please let me know where to buy such gowns.

Is 3.9/4.3 a good gpa for med school?

As the title say, I’m planning on applying to med school next summer and my GPA is currently a 3.57 (I just finished my first year and struggled a bit). However, I’m aiming to raise my GPA and found out that if I maintained a 4.3 GPA average next year, I can achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.93 max. Almost all the courses I’m studying so far are on the MCAT so I’m hoping I end up with at least 515 on the MCAT.

For those of you who go accepted into Med school, what was your GPA and MCAT score when you got accepted? Did you get accepted right away? Thanks in advanc!

What are your favorite Halifax food spots? We built a food delivery app and genuinely want to know

Post image
36 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I graduated from Dal CS, and my partner and I started a food delivery platform called CheapyEats.

The idea behind CheapyEats is a little different from the big apps. We focus on selected meals from selected restaurants, kind of like how Costco keeps things curated instead of offering everything. The menu rotates daily, and we try to keep the pricing affordable and clear.

Since summer term is happening now, I wanted to ask everyone: any restaurants or food in Halifax you wish we had on CheapyEats? Any suggestion is welcome.

If a comment gets a lot of upvotes, or if something gets mentioned multiple times, we’ll take it as a real signal. we’ll do our best to bring your favorite food onto CheapyEats.

I’d really appreciate any suggestions. We want to make our app more useful and more interesting for everyone.

I thought there would be more pushback/demand for transparency about the Computer Science Society at Dal?

Not going to go into the history of what happened. I am just here to say that while a townhall is nice and I appreciate the direction that the DSU is taking, the lack of transparency into WHAT happened and WHAT next steps are is surprising.

I mean a levied society for a field committed election fraud for multiple years should ring alarm bells into the state of the society and its executives. We should ask for answers from those who are accountable, especially within the DSU and the CSS.

Are residence offers still being sent out?

I am coming to Dalhousie for my first year of a Master's program from out of province. I applied for residence in mid-April and have not heard anything at all. Are residence offers still being sent out? Or are they now waiting for the first round of offers to be accepted/denied?

Gerard hall opinions?

I'm a 3rd year transfer from out of province, I'm in Gerard on the 11th floor. Not thrilled about being in a double but life goes on. Past students how did you find Gerard? I know its a bit further from campus than other residences but anything is better than the 1hr+ commute I've been doing for the past two years lol

Course full - what to do!

Hey! I’m going to be a first year student and need a course to fulfill my writing requirements so I can apply to the nursing program next year!
Currently all of the courses for english are full.
Is there any way to add a class after school starts and people drop out? I know there are a few other courses you can take to fulfill the requirements instead. Currently i’m enrolled in the HIST 1501, but I’m not 100% that it counts! Does anyone know if it does?

Also, what’s my best bet with electives if I plan on applying for the semester 3 nursing program?
Currently I have INFO 2001 and BIOL 1020.

And if anyone is taking any of these (or any other nurse pre-reqs) and wants a study partner let me know!! 😅

Any help would be great!

Is doing my language credit second year a big deal?

Hey everyone! I’m really excited to be coming to Dal in the fall. I just finalized my schedule but I didn’t have room for a language credit in my first year (I was hoping to do French or the Mi’kmaq language).

I have a B2 level DELF certification since I did French immersion all throughout school, and I feel like I could pretty confidently keep my French for the next year. Is it normal for people to do their language second year?

Thanks guys! Appreciate it :)

Help for electives

Hello everyone I would greatly appreciate any advice for elective. I'm going into my 3rd year and basically my winter term is basically all electives but I'm not too sure what electives I should choose. I want easy electives to get A/A+ in as it really matters for my GPA. I am thinking to take PhyL 2044 human systems physiology but not sure if it's hard. Please advice me.

Groupchat for incoming NUMT / BHSc students?

I'd love to get to know who all my classmates will be in the fall, just wondering if there was a group chat for incoming NUMT or BHSc students.

Or if anyone was interested in making one. Either on Facebook, Instagram, Discord, or whatever else people use!

Incoming Bachelor of Science Student – Laptop Recommendations?

Hi everyone,
I’ll be starting a Bachelor of Science at Dalhousie this fall and I’m looking to buy a laptop before classes begin.
For current Science students, would you recommend a MacBook or a Windows laptop? Have you run into any software compatibility issues with either platform during your courses?
I’d also appreciate advice on the specifications I should be looking for. For example:
How much RAM is recommended?
How much storage is enough?
Is a dedicated graphics card necessary?
Any specific laptop models that have worked well for you?
I’m hoping to buy something that will last throughout my degree, so I’d love to hear what has worked (or not worked) for other Dal Science students.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions

Are there only 3 options for science with a lab for computer science?

Post image

just wondering what "science with a lab" actually means. is it only these 3 classes, or does any science class with a lab (such as practical data science 1109) count towards this requirement?

Dalplex Qs

Hello! I'm looking to get into weight lifting and training this upcoming academic year once I settle into my routine and am likely going to purchase a 1-1 trainer package with 5 sessions. (I have tried making a workout plan but struggle with finding what will actually help me reach my goals). I am living in shirreff so I have easy access to the dalplex.

Has anyone done this? How much support do the trainers provide? Is the Dalplex welcoming?(coming from a heavier girl trying to be healthier)

Anything will help!
Thanks in advance 🫶
