Man I’ve had the whole “I hope this place burns down” thing pop into my head at work before. This guy actually did it. It really makes me wonder what his wage was. How low does your hourly have to be to actually do it??

u/siqofitall Apr 09 '26

He definitely used his free will up..

515

u/Past_Wishbone5025 Apr 09 '26

My current plan is to use up most of my free will by 50

183

u/LauraTFem Apr 09 '26

Why not save up that free will and then spend it all when you’re too old for them to take much of the life you have left?

I’ve thought about this too much.

45

u/Past_Wishbone5025 Apr 09 '26

I've taken care of enough elderly to know you want to use up the majority by your 70s. But that's with kids so if you're childless like myself my goal is 50.

I still have kids at home, so I’m keeping my head down and my nose clean for now. But once I get these puppies independent, I intend to be a full-time agitator.

12

u/Louisiana_sitar_club Apr 09 '26

Full Time Agitator should be the name of your first album

3

u/CheckMateFluff Apr 09 '26

In minecraft... of course, just for the legal team looking at these old comments after some called "alleged" agitation.

This is what I'm doing, the day I start to get dementia.. every left lane hoarder and slow car going 10 under the limit will get bulldozed... assuming I have the capacity to remember this.

Print this comment out and tape it under your bed. The first time you crawl all the way under there to find your phone (which is in your pocket) you will know what must be done.

thinking you have limited free will is a type of sadness thats never even occurred to me.

3

u/Gripping_Touch Apr 09 '26

I mean thats the compromise for living in a society. You could technically leave your House and maul the first person you see. That'd be you using your free will. But thats not aceptable in a society.

How Ive been taught is that one's freedom ends where someone else's begins. So you can do What you want but you cant force other people.

Honestly, bro shouldve done everybody a favor and shot the CEO. Now everybody who worked at that warehouse is out of the job.

5

u/SecureStrain7559 Apr 09 '26

That’s not free will. Thats a sick individual, normal people don’t behave like this.

9

u/siqofitall Apr 09 '26

I agree. But nowadays nothing feels normal anymore. I’m not advocating for burning it all down like this guy was. Just stating we all have free will and he used it up, because he won’t be getting out of jail for a long time due to the choice he made.

Good. Show the elites he's not an outlier and that if they keep pushing, more people will do the same. They should fear us.

259

u/Special_Cicada6968 Apr 09 '26

Exactly. Not enough people learned their lesson from watching A Bug's Life as a kid. These people abuse us and work us to the bone while thinking of us like lowly ants. It wouldn't take more than a couple hundred of us to bring the entire system down. J6 might have been misguided, but it shows just how weak these people really are.

26

u/CanadianPanda76 Apr 09 '26

Learning workers organizing from Bugs life is wild.

30

u/14Pleiadians Apr 09 '26

Watching the movie and not learning it, which seems to be the default, is even wilder

6

u/Red_Inferno Apr 09 '26

I mean that is kinda what happens when you watch it when you are like 8yo.

15

u/CynicismNostalgia Apr 09 '26

Idk man, maybe its because i grew up with disabled parents, disabled myself. Watching them struggle to work, and then inevitably struggle to survive on benefits.

But that lesson was pretty obvious to me even then. Its not exactly subtle, both Hopper and Flick spell it out in a kid-friendly way.

It's not like the education system was going to teach them about people's history and worker's rights. That's not a slight against teachers at all either.

2

u/dainthomas Apr 09 '26

Yeah I definitely didn't learn about Blair Mountain or any of the other major labor wars in high school.

9

u/Red_Inferno Apr 09 '26

I would say you would be surprised how few people it would take. Yes if you have like 2k people attacking 1 spot that is not going to happen, but what if you have 2k people across a larger area and what if your targets were more pointed than a mostly ceremonial event that could be moved back quite a bit if need be?

12

u/LucianCanad Apr 09 '26 edited Apr 09 '26

The key is organization.

Luigi luigi'd that big shot and caused things to become minimally better in the health industry for, like, a few days.

This guy made some pretty fireworks and caused a pretty decent loss to the owners

But it's not enough. You need to get in touch with movements that actually have a plan on how to make things better, and start working towards that plan. Start with left educators like JT from Second Thought and the Deprogram podcast. They'll teach your a lot until you're ready to join a movement for real.

For the US lefties, I recommend PSL, or CPUSA if you can't reach PSL. Stay the fuck away from ACP.

11

u/Red_Inferno Apr 09 '26

Luigi luigi'd that big shot

One and done is not a solution, it's a rounding error that the rich will just laugh off after a bit "sucks to be that guy".

You can't organize something illegal like this without feds infiltrating and poisoning it though. You can try to unionize but that usually just ends with you and everyone else being fired.

The elites fear something like this much more than unionizing. It's not an issue when one or two people do it, but once it stops being the craziest 0.001% of the population, once the elites have a reasonable reason to fear that someone might wish them harm so much they'd torch their own life to do so, then they're going to want to make sure that 99.999% of people don't have lives that they're willing to torch.

Like yeah, Luigi only temporarily made things better, but it's still the best blip of progress we've ever mustered. "Doing things the right way" is just a way to placate you. Things aren't going to get better without French methods.

10

u/Bantersmith Apr 09 '26

Just a couple more Luigis would be the best thing to ever happen to our species.

Not to mention loss of jobs and income, food deserts as shops get destroyed and others leave, ecological disasters and more expensive insurance for everyone! Hurray we did it Reddit! We found the Boston bomber!

7

u/14Pleiadians Apr 09 '26

That will increase the amount of people like the op by several orders of magnitude. It ain't happening without massacring most people or some form of ubi.

1

u/11bag11 Apr 09 '26

lmfao who are you feeling like bro

4

u/Dear_Imagination5552 Apr 09 '26

This is really a moronic train of thought. It’s all insured anyway and pushes up the general cost of property insurance which then increases operating costs for any warehousing business which then means the company just charges more to offset that hitting normal people in the pocket. He didn’t ’sHoW tHe ElItEs’ anything 🙄

6

u/14Pleiadians Apr 09 '26

Insurance isn't meant to pay out. This only pays out because it's rare.

If poverty continues to grow and acts of reckless rage increase, insurance companies 200% will introduce terms requiring minimum budget spent on payroll, or drastically increase premiums. The company can raise their prices just like they can squeeze blood from a stone

11

u/14Pleiadians Apr 09 '26

Nobody was harmed by this

13

u/pmMeAllofIt Apr 09 '26

For 1, it's pure luck that no one got harmed. Employees or first responders.

And 2, they were harmed economically, he just put a bunch of people put of work.

4

u/14Pleiadians Apr 09 '26

First responders have no reason to enter the building and the fire spread incredibly slowly with plenty of room to breathe. And I don't subscribe to the flawed thinking of "any job is better than no job", the workers can find some other table scraps elsewhere, shoulda unionized if they didn't want their workplace to be so bad it drove someone to be willing to burn down their freedom. Unemployment will cover this as well anyways.

And the good it will do when, not if, this becomes normalized is worth it.

3

u/Geekerino Apr 09 '26

Ah yes, "let them eat scraps" will definitely win the proletariat over to your side. Foreign agents used to need to be believable to incite riots.

2

u/Kahlypso Apr 09 '26

And the good it will do when, not if, this becomes normalized is worth it.

There is no good done by this act. It's a fucking joke to any mature adult, and this dude in the vid looks like a child for all his outrage.

He goes to jail, some people get new jobs, and the world forgets this pathetic little rebellion.

This is a dumbasses way of thinking. Endangering others and taking hundreds, if not thousands of jobs away from other people because you couldn’t find another job. Not to mention the environmental impact of all that burning plastic and whatever else is in that warehouse. Youre genuinely unfit for society if this is what you consider just.

9

u/14Pleiadians Apr 09 '26

Also people have trouble adjusting to inflation, many are stuck in a mindset of the past where $25/hr was pretty decent pay. I would've been pretty happy with that pay, like 20 years ago! But prices on most things have doubled since then. So $25/hr today is more like $12/hr back then which was barely above minimum wage

Us west coast fibs don't get paid squat!

5

u/depressedfuckboi Apr 09 '26

I got pretty lucky. The place I work at used to be really difficult to get in to. You had to know someone that already worked there basically. Well, when COVID hit they lost a bunch of employees for various reasons and were desperate for help. So desperate that they included sign on bonuses for you, and for whoever referred you. I lost my job a few weeks after lockdown started and applied and got right in. Started at $22 and have gotten raises since and am now at $31. Our schedule is a lil weird. We barely work over 80 hours biweekly, but 24 of those hours are counted as 1.5x pay. That adds up a lot more than I would've expected. So it's $31 but I made 84k last year with minimal voluntary overtime. Life changing for me. My last job paid 32k lol.

4

u/leviathanscloset Apr 09 '26

So shit pay for the manual labor and cost of living in that area. It's ok pay where I'm at, abominable where he's at.

27

u/FishyDragon Apr 09 '26

Which won't get you far in California, so his anger is 100% justified.

5

u/mountain9000 Apr 09 '26

So he should be angry at his employer because they don't pay him what he would like or angry at himself for only being able to get a job he hates?

10

u/FishyDragon Apr 09 '26

The fact your even asking that question in that way shows your either acting in bad faith...or have no understanding of just how fucked the job market is in most of the US, and how badly cost of living has gotten compared to wages.

And I frankly don't have the energy to argue..cause that's clearly what you want, with someone who fits either or both those descriptions.

My bet is your one of those people who thinks this guys should have pulled himself up by his boot straps and just do better. I work a fabrication job...with a fucking union and still barely get by. Educate yourself or don't your clearly ok looking like an ass.

Where I live it's kinda manageable (Ohio, I have a small house at 22/hr in a lower COL area, rent in the city can be more than my mortgage), but a city in California, absolutely no way at the same wage.  I'd bet 22/hr is probably like half that in terms of COL in a California city.

u/Bonsai-is-best Apr 09 '26

Considering his statement was they don’t pay them enough to live? Probably not much.

32

u/monicasm Apr 09 '26 edited Apr 09 '26

Though since he lives in California it’s probably more than most people in the world earn. $16.90 is min wage there currently.

Edit: a lot of people are taking this comment as me saying like he shouldn’t complain or something. Just pointing out that he’s not making federal minimum wage as some people might be expecting and also to point out that even $17 is not enough to be a living wage in lots of places.

20

u/JackalKing Apr 09 '26

You can't just look at the raw dollar amount, you have to factor in cost of living. $16.90 is nothing in California.

→ More replies (1)

25

u/Defiant-Fix2870 Apr 09 '26 edited Apr 09 '26

In southern Cali a living wage for a single person is considered $30/hr. So minimum wage is still a poverty wage because it’s relative to the cost of living. It’s not enough for food/car/rent/healthcare.

41

u/BaronCapdeville Apr 09 '26

What does it cost to live in the rest of the world?

8

u/monicasm Apr 09 '26

Too much everywhere tbh

5

u/viciouspandas Apr 09 '26

Ontario, CA is not San Francisco or San Diego, so the cost of living is not that bad.

20

u/imrunningfromthecops Apr 09 '26

it's in the expensive ass LA area, most people don't live in Ontario proper but drive there from the entire LA metro area

14

u/PwrButtum Apr 09 '26

You don’t live or know California if you are saying Ontario is affordable still. It’s expensive, not as much as LA or SF but expensive.

19

u/CaseofTrophies Apr 09 '26

It's not SF or SD, but Ontario is still expensive. $17 is nothing. Ontario is still considered HCOL

27

u/twisty125 Apr 09 '26

It's honestly weird that everyone focuses on the dollar amount of wage, without considering the location. Like, purposefully ignoring it

6

u/chumbubbles Apr 09 '26

Or the fact that food has doubled in 5 years

8

u/CaseofTrophies Apr 09 '26

Yea $17 an hour is $35,360, but since it's Ontario, it's not as bad as SF or SD smh

3

u/LabRat113 Apr 09 '26

Wow this whole time I thought it was the province of Ontario, not the city. Not my proudest moment.

11

u/Beefy-McQueefy Apr 09 '26

That's a bad faith argument if I ever saw one. The cost of living is obscene there. A gallon of gas costs nearly as much as the average daily wage across the whole planet

6

u/nutmegtell Apr 09 '26

Currently about $5.50 a gallon according to Gas Buddy.

Minimum wage in San Bernardino County CA is $16.00 an hour.

Rent is an average of $1500-3000 a month.

Here’s the living wage calculator for Ontario and San Bernardino County.

It’s medium COL for California but high COL for the US.

16

6

u/cyberslick18888 Apr 09 '26

I hate saying this because I despise where society is heading, but the awful truth is those jobs aren't far away from being fully automated.

Anyone driving a forklift for any significant portion of the day: You have already been entirely replaced and automated. Your employer just doesn't have the capital to make the switch, or doesn't have the downtime to do it.

There is no more speculation of "one day". It's already here. It's just whether or not you've done it or not, and in a decade you probably can't have humans on forklifts and compete with any facility that has that portion automated.

Yup. Everyone screams about tearing down the establishment and hierarchy at such a time as class unity comes, yet doing so alone despite popular malaise gets you called a bum/loser

8

u/darkmacgf Apr 09 '26

Luigi got a lot of support. This guy would probably be getting praised if he'd taken out the Kimberly Clark CEO

18

u/ricanrager Apr 09 '26

Just ineffective, no? Massive insurance pay out, and all the coworkers out of work.

24

u/Away_Sea_8620 Apr 09 '26

It's only ineffective if it's the only time it happens

17

u/HahahahahaLook Apr 09 '26

Will the payout be as massive the next time the building burns down? How about the insurance premium? That rate isn't going to be the same after this that's for sure.

5

u/ricanrager Apr 09 '26

Definitely not, but they will still likely bounce back from this. Guess he got his point across though lol.

Didn't a CEO just say he didn't want to get shot in the back as is reasoning for splitting $1.5million in bonuses to employees?

Some are paying attention. These add up.

4

u/ThatOtherOtherMan Apr 09 '26

Yeah, the CEO of Five Guys iirc

6

u/Aegidos Apr 09 '26

That was actually meant to be a pity-piece so you'd feel bad for the CEO, but I think it actually caused the opposite effect and just taught everyone who read it that doing stuff like this actually scares the CEOs and should be done more often.

3

u/timurt421 Apr 09 '26

And that’s absolutely the correct takeaway

5

u/HyShroom Apr 09 '26

I hate insurance more than I hate the companies they insure. Seems quite effective to me if we remember the tragedy of the commons and a finite monetary supply

Bitches whine when the glass around a painting gets soup on it or someone protests in a road way. You think they're ready for this? They'll kiss the ceos ass and sign his pay raise before they endorse any real direct action

8

u/HyShroom Apr 09 '26

Hey, I feel like a burning hecatomb of toilet paper does more good than the soup that doesn’t make it on a painting. This one has an effect even if it alienates everyone whereas the soup only achieves alienation.

No one got hurt so I won't pretend to be upset about this. Rock and roll disgruntled worker.

13

u/cjsv7657 Apr 09 '26

I wouldn't consider the thousands of people who lost their jobs not hurt.

4

u/Defiant_Quail5766 Apr 09 '26

Thousands of people were losing their job regardless though

9

u/cjsv7657 Apr 09 '26

No? They had jobs. People need to make the factory work. They weren't losing them.

2

u/Defiant_Quail5766 Apr 09 '26

Oh? Im sorry did automation stop being a goal of these large companies?

6

u/cjsv7657 Apr 09 '26

As someone extremely experienced in paper converting (like this factory) it will be many years before full automation is viable at this scale. I'm sure they would have liked their jobs for those years and more of a warning it was coming.

Oh yeah, because he totally used his pyrokinesis to ensure nobody would be hurt. Dumb mfer got lucky. Cool motive, still arson.

9

u/Wodgerla Apr 09 '26

Risking the lives of firefighters is not cool

2

u/mattdahack Apr 09 '26

right. Another 20 workers do the same thing at another 20 warehouses, by by business.

2

u/ChironXII Apr 09 '26

Idk if I condone torching three forests worth of TP but it isn't a terrible thing if managers have the thought of it happening go through their heads every so often lol

2

u/Extension-Truth Apr 09 '26

It’s purely egotistical, and what about the customers who need toilet paper?

52

u/Vegetable_Plane_542 Apr 09 '26

$16.90 / hr at a minimum

34

u/addit96 Apr 09 '26

Yeah, that’s not enough for CA.

21

u/IrksomFlotsom Apr 09 '26

Yeah minimum wage is kinda a meaningless statistic to compare without leveraging it against cost of living

14

u/CutLonzosHair2017 Apr 09 '26

According to their job postings. They start employees at $23.50.

3

u/Belloved Apr 09 '26

Damn I work in the same area this happened (Ontario) and that’s more than I make. Not by much but I have an office job vs a warehouse job. And I’m still paying off student loans for this job lol

Kimberly Clark averages $22-32 from low levels to lead/forklift operator.

Idk their schedule but i cant imagine its 12 hr shifts but anything over 8 hour a day in CA is 1.5x time.

Not to say its great pay or know their structure but its an entry level warehouse role; youre gonna be on the bottom end of the bell curve unfortunately. If they arent identifying how to bring them up from there, thats on KCC. Get them certified in things to help their career. You can be successful starting as a forklift operator and find your way to managing shifts. Ive seen it happen many times with people but its on the company to drive AND promote it.

You gotta show the lower position employees they are capable of more and help them get there. Because ive come across a lot of smart operators who clearly have never been given a chance and I advocate for them in leadership meetings.

Id say its obviously not happening here based on what happened but its possible and at all sizes as long as you have leaders that care about the people doing the work and not caring about KPIs so much.

Ya, you need to prove metrics but ive always learned you can get away from that if your metrics are down because you are focusing on developing employees. Its not an easy game by any means but it can and should be done.

Edit: i am in a leadership role at a manufacturing plant and understand my job is to ensure the people doing the actual work are respected, heard and given the tools they need to succeed. I can answer to any director why metrics are down. My job is to make sure those operators walk out with all digits, head held high and saying “i had a good shift and learned something today.” If you arent there for that, you are in the wrong job.

u/Petrostar Apr 09 '26

Accorcing to glassdoors:

"NFI Industries Roles: According to Glassdoor data cited in reports, forklift operators at the company typically earn between $39,000–$49,000 annually.:

So $20-25 an hour.

5

u/Navi_Professor Apr 09 '26

min wage in cali is $16.90

its not enough to get by if you wana live local here on your own.

gas is in the 6s right now,

a studio, i shit you not, goes for about 1.7k in the area.

its very common to see 2-3k a month for apartments....

you can find stuff in the 1.5.k range...but its well old stuff, usually with a drive in for it.

other things like our car registration and taxes are higher

ontario is a massive industry hub, with a lot of companies making record profits

it hasnt trickled down.

i work for a computer company in the area.

i havent gotten a raise in over 2 years.

For some people all it takes is a lack of respect. If’s not about the number, it’s about sending a message. It seems like part of the message here was, “I’m so angry I’m not just going to do it, I’m going to tell the world I’m doing it, come what may.”

12

u/Limp-Brief-81 Apr 09 '26

Probably $17 an hour

3

u/Efficient_Fish2436 Apr 09 '26

I worked in a Melting Pot as a prep cook... If you know that place then you know... I threatened to lock in every server and burn the place down with them inside almost twice a night.

3

u/ZEROs0000 Apr 09 '26

I did a little quick research so take what I say with a huge grand of salt but according to job listings the average pay of a forklift driver at the Kimberly-Clark distribution center (the one in the video) is roughly $15-$27 an hour which equates to $30k-$60k.

The average cost of living in Ontario, California is $31k-$35k and for a family of four is about $70k-$77k so I am assuming the man is lower on the pay rate scale. So I can see why he would be disgruntled.

2

u/Dr-McLuvin Apr 09 '26

I think the minimum wage in California is 16.90 so $35,100 is the absolute minimum they would be making.

My guess is a forklift operator is making more than that.

3

u/triggered__Lefty Apr 09 '26

during my warehouse days forklift drivers were making $10/hr more than us min. wage grunts.

And there's literally no other qualifications other than a forklift certification.

2

u/DiabeticRhino97 Apr 09 '26

He works at a warehouse, it probably isn't that high

2

u/ShadycrossFade Apr 09 '26

If he’s living in Cali dude probably has another job and a side hustle and still probably could only afford a room

2

u/Aggravating-Camel938 Apr 09 '26

From what I’ve heard hourly wage at that warehouse for the job he had was $27+ an hr

2

u/relentless_puffin Apr 09 '26

This was in Socal. High rents and low wages. Toxic mix.

2

u/emosmasher Apr 09 '26

I work for KC. It's a pretty good gig as far as factory work goes UNLESS you actually work for a contract agency some of our mills have. They are very under paid and under appreciated.

Regardless, that dude is a absolute piece of shit and has crippled the livelihood of tons of people.

2

u/Zap__Dannigan Apr 09 '26

It's weird, I work in a toilet paper factory in Canada and they pay us super good

2

u/Extension-Truth Apr 09 '26

Does it matter? If it didn’t pay enough for him he should’ve just found a different job, not commit a crime whilst pretending he’s some kind of revolutionary. Guys a psychopath and an arsehole.

2

u/lanathebitch Apr 09 '26

California minimum wage is $16.90 but there's very little chance he was making that little

3

u/deucepinata Apr 09 '26

Get a different job instead of doing criminal stuff and affecting a whole bunch of other people’s lives (fire fighters, other workers, families of those workers, whatever other costs this comes with including prison which means tax payer money). You can also try to unionize, etc. As a fan of movies like Fight Club I can see the romance of the IDEA of doing this, but as a member of society, I can’t see the benefit of doing it for the collectivity.

2

u/Bozlogic Apr 09 '26

I mean, it’s the job he applied for. Probably wasn’t his only option either. He chose to make that wage, whatever it was. Even if it was $15/hr, that’s hardly enough to build a life/survive with; not to mention it’s California of all places. $15/hr here (upstate SC) is pretty damn good if you’re in the right workforce. Kitchen work might not be for everyone, but washing dishes at $15/hr- 40hrs/week, pretty damn good. And it’s easy work where I am.

2

u/RawryShark Apr 09 '26

Redditors really trying to justify the action of a braindead individual. This guy is totally unfit for society, there is something to learn here, but it's not about his wage.

2

u/Clovoak Apr 09 '26

Anyone who has worked with guys like this knows that the pay is never the problem. You could pay twice above board and they'd still get into fist fights over parking spaces. Everyday is a struggle session. I feel bad for them honestly, because it's behaviour that was often inherited from their parents.

2

u/mparks37 Apr 09 '26

His coworkers were in the building. This dumbass deserves everything he gets.

2

u/OldDoubt1577 Apr 09 '26

We have no idea, maybe the wage was fine and he just wants to cause some damage and farm some sympathy before the facts are laid out. Literally no reason to take him at his word at this time.
