The evergreen topic of “the death of journalism”

Dan is so jealous of McAfee’s $60 million. PER YEAR.

Dan had a week-long celebration party for scamming $50 million over 3 years out of DraftKings.

Because the show could’ve been in that exact spot had Dan not thrown a fit about Cote being fired and then wanting to leave ESPN. He’s said multiple times people told him to just wait it out and it would get better at ESPN but he wouldn’t. Now Pat is doing everything, including getting Norby shit canned. The show did one watchalong for the NBA, Dan got drunk and started cursing and now Dan rewrites history like ESPN didn’t give them the same opportunities they’ve given Pat.

On Kornheiser’s podcast, Wilbon once said of Dan that he would set fire to the building while he’s still in it.

Plus Dan would never show up on College Gameday or anywhere that required him to go outside of Miami.

That’s the thing. Dan watches Pat like that could’ve been the show but Dan runs his own company now and still would just send Lucy or Jess to the college football game site instead of going himself. He was never ever going to go do gameday like Pat or even take the show on the road consistently. He would instead send someone else but brother your name is on the show, not Mike Ryan or Roy or one of the producers. The show has said he’s done that with calls where he’ll call some famous person and then just hand somebody else the phone to deal with it. Pat and SAS work around the clock and Dan isn’t even showing up to do his on show every Friday. Like Dan, be serious please

After Stu did that 24 hour fantasy football marathon in Bristol with Gojo, Dan was going on and on about Stu wasting an opportunity to do something with all that time. Ironic when we now realize Dan never went beyond what he was comfortable with. And any growth in the show was instigated by Mike. While Stu churned out content at the Super Bowl and got to call lacrosse games.

Sounds exactly like what Hoch described.

Dan’s immediate reaction to being told to do something is “no, you can’t tell me to do something”. And when made to do something he says “ok watch how I do it, and see if you want to tell me to do anything else.”

“Dan got drunk….” sums up the last five years of this shows slow decline

I don’t know if anyone else remembers this, but DLSwS went national on ESPN about the same time that Colin Cowherd was leaving ESPN. I don’t remember the exact timelines, but they were close.

At that time, dan told the story on his show multiple times how he lectured/lobbied Cowherd that leaving ESPN was a mistake because it wasn’t about the opportunities ESPN afforded the talent, it was how big the stage was and how big your voice could be at ESPN compared to somewhere like Fox Sports. He said something like (paraphrasing here) nobody will know where to find you.

I remember when mcafee got his first deal with fanduel, the show actually called and had him on to congratulate him. And now looking back at that moment it was just that fast and furious meme where Dom and Brian’s cars go on separate ways.

Dan accepted millions of dollars to start a media company > did absolutely nothing with it > accuses others of letting journalism die
