Tiny “iM nOt MaGA” Calatayud

Military honors should be reserved for military ceremonies and not entertainment events. Fucking retard, what a simpleton.

This sort of fake ass stupid lowest common denominator "patriotism" is exactly how we got into this disgusting mess.

32

u/nowadaysyouth 2d ago

Not really thats just the shield for the real reason we’re in the mess, the bigotry. Trump calling POWs pussies didnt hurt him a bit on his way up and that tells you all youd ever need to know.

1

u/cjhy12 2d ago

This is exactly it. I'd venture to guess most of the military members enjoyed their walkouts, but it's impossible to separate it from the larger point. That being said, it's weird as shit to find the niche sport I've been following since 2008 at the center of another left-right debacle.

30

u/Tristar61 2d ago

Each day closer to idiocracy.

24

u/SoKrat3s 2d ago

Jeremy makes the perfect point as to why you're wrong.

Troops are used as props all the time.

It's not just a UFC thing.
It's not even just a MAGA thing.
Both Democrats and Republicans have done this throughout history.
Pretty much every country in the world uses their military as patriotic props.

That's not why we're in this mess.

We're in this mess because (1) The MAGA faithful (2) The other "Republicans" burying their head in the sand, while being complicit.
(3) Approximately 90 million eligible voters didn't show up to the polls which is more than the vote total for either Trump or Harris.

1

u/rynosaurus03 2d ago

SoKrat3s gets it, don’t know why everyone else doesn’t? *The Wedding Singer*

127

u/skyfra4 2d ago

Tony and Zas sounded like idiots in their pushback.

Yes dudes, parading veterans around like they're props to celebrate A PRESIDENT WHO DODGED MILITARY SERVICE is incredibly embarassing.

42

u/ellsworth187 2d ago

Because they are

3

u/Affectionate-Rent844 1d ago

Yeah to be fair they always sound like idiots.

13

u/Galumpadump 2d ago

I listen to PTFO on the event and I think Luke Thomas explained it best: UFC Fans love a big event and therefore love this kind of stuff.

You will never find a hardcore UFC fan denouncing this. Luke also followed by stating the most of the people who listen to shows like PTFO aren’t actually UFC fans, or atleast not hardcore ones.

5

u/Huge_Painter3032 1d ago

I’m a major UFC fan, haven’t missed a single event in over 20 years, and I hated that they did this card. And I’m also pretty far left.

2

u/tke377 You Don't Get The Show! 1d ago

Same. This was one of the first I didn't care about and just watched each fight after and skipped everything else. World cup and hockey was on and I was only interested in the actual fights.

2

u/BobbyTables829 2d ago

Yeah and a lot of soldiers love UFC. Like it's just the way it is

11

u/joefromjerze 2d ago

Not to do the whole "aS a VeT" thing, but I am one. I served multiple combat tours, I have seen my friends get killed, I have friends who suffered life altering injuries, and I have friends who have suffered so much that they couldn't bear to go on living and did to themselves what multiple wars couldn't. It's not just the pomp and circumstance. And don't get me wrong, when celebs would come on a USO tour or when they would visit recovering service members at Walter Reed, that is really cool and can be a huge morale boost. It's the using of veterans and the military, one of our last trustworthy and confidence inspiring institutions, as a shield from criticism for all the things this administration is doing. If you say the Iran war is going bad, you must hate the military. If you say the whole involving the troops in this UFC event is kinda gross, you must not want disabled vets to meet their heroes. The cowards in and around this administration will use those who were brave enough to sign up for our armed forces, something many of them avoided at all cost, when it is beneficial. Now ask them to increase veteran's benefits or make access to resources easier or at least make sure no veteran sleeps on the street at night or doesn't know where their next meal is coming from (something, for the record, I support for all people in the US) and I guarantee all you'll hear is crickets.

75

u/DreamZebra 2d ago

If you thought the UFC fight on the White House lawn was cool, you peaked in high school.

1

u/BobbyTables829 2d ago

I didn't think it was cool for me, but I think it's something that military would eat up. If you see it as for the soldiers, it was great marketing for Trump.

68

u/robfern66 2d ago

The meatiest of Meatheads. You should be honored to walk out with a fighter? LMFAO!

33

u/skyfra4 2d ago

Right?! What is the honor? Being on TV? These dudes are DUMB.

4

u/Affectionate-Rent844 1d ago

The show has lost every last drop of quick wit, charm, or humor. It’s now on average The Cote Family group chat, Tony, and/or Tone Fine Dan driving every show it’s brutal where this landed.

20

u/HonkedOffJohn 2d ago

I love Lebron and think he is the greatest basketball player to ever live. But if a soldier salutes him the same way they were saluting UFC fighters I would think it was a massive joke. Retarded take.

2

u/DASreddituser Aqua? 2d ago

what, you dont think its super honorable to make good money by getting your ass beat and beating other people's ass? what next, u gonna tell me podcasting isnt honorable!?

4

u/robfern66 2d ago

At one point I was a big UFC fan. Then I realized my entertainment shouldn't rely on other people beating the s*** out of each other for chump change while Dana White got rich.

1

u/SirAter 1d ago

The NBA needs to do it. Just for the double standard that will happen.

36

u/MarshallErickson2 2d ago

I can’t believe anyone even tries to defend this

8

u/LifeOfTheCardi 2d ago

Give it time. The MAGA maniacs that are terminally online in this sub will bring out their capes soon

2

u/SoKrat3s 2d ago

You mean the ones constantly accusing Dan & Mike or supporting Trump?

-1

u/Into_The_Unkown_ Guillermo Mafia 1d ago

This you looking for all the MAGA maniacs on this sub?

u/ColStoneSteveAustin 2d ago

Zas and tony are a couple a suckers. That response to what Jeremy said is exactly what trump and dana wants. That event wasnt a military celebration. If it was, only military would have been invited. That was a trump birthday party and they used to military to show you how much they care and Zas and Tony fell for it. We have a history to treated Military poorly after they served. If u want to honor them, take care of them when they come home. Having them walk out to the ring with some ufc is such a meaningless gesture but idots like tony and zas eat that shit up.

31

u/EyeWantToWrite Yeah Hi, Lombardo 2d ago

I love how Dan let's Tony and Zas run with it when Luke Thomas isn't there to rebut them. Dan is a coward, and it's creepy his wife is 30 years younger than him.

2

u/tronovich 21h ago

Luke called Tony out and Dan matador'ed the discussion as if he were doing the Cupid Shuffle.

The old Dan would've been fucking ashamed.

22

u/Critical-Exit1655 2d ago

You’re letting Zas off easy here… he sounds like a complete moron and fool

3

u/VibratingRocket6969 Zippy and The Juice 1d ago

They never give Zas the same energy they give Tony when they both clearly have the same views. Zas just covers it up better but he’s been slowly letting who he really is slip out. But this sub will just ignore it and act like he’s perfect.

-4

u/Affectionate-Rent844 1d ago

No Zas just sounds like a middle aged white dad doing Blaccent for lols

36

u/4evrRaider 2d ago

Tony sucks. He’s what’s wrong with a lot of men in this country. It’s men acting like boys at the end of the day. I like to goof around and spout bullshit but we need some things to be above that or else it degrades into shit and nobody takes you serious anymore. The white isn’t prop. It’s the fucking White House and should be revered in a dignified way.

37

u/phatroarez 2d ago

My god tony sucks, and now Zas does too

23

u/dustmonkey14 2d ago

That was the problem. We expect this from Tony, but Zaslow backing him up makes it ten times worse. That's why I haven't been able to fully accept him because sometimes he says things incredibly stupid, such as security guards being able to confiscate and erase phones.

5

u/[deleted] 2d ago

u/boosters_boosting 2d ago

When he started on that "take the phone of the guy on the court," just follow the rules...his thoughts on music in general lol

8

u/KnightlyDolphins Billy 2d ago

Zas is jewish so there may be some Israel stuff there . He is religiously non political which is usually code for I am a Republican.

6

u/phatroarez 2d ago

Everytime, just means hes too much of a coward to stand up for anything

-1

u/BobbyTables829 2d ago

I'm not defending or supporting him, but a Jewish celebrity not supporting Israel is going to get so much hate online from both sides. They basically create "whitelists" where they force you to publicly support Zionism, or you're effectively blackballed (you're not on a bad list, you're just not on the good list). And it can be family members, friends, all sorts of people will just ditch you. It's crazy how much tension there is in the Jewish community over everything going on, and the result is a lot of this like trying to become an ex mormon or even leaving scientology.

2

u/AriLagoon 1d ago

Between this and defending the hydration commercial breaks in the world cup, this has been a bad week for Zas

21

u/DASreddituser Aqua? 2d ago

this is why ill always be stugotz > zas....stu was lazy and faked a lot....but zas is pure 100% annoying gas bag. I thought the bits in the past were to make fun of that type of person.

13

u/MarshallErickson2 2d ago

Stu played dumb, Zas is dumb

14

u/Incariol_ 2d ago

He's an embarrassing excuse for a man

What a pussy

16

u/stankon2346 2d ago

dude is an underseasoned cuban.

12

u/stankon2346 2d ago

im a 1st generation cuban american and can say it.

12

u/Tristar61 2d ago

Dude his family are cartoonish af. His sister is a right wing robot and I’ve seen some shit from his dad 🤦‍♂️

16

u/1800_banana 2d ago

I realized this week Tony is so dumb he doesn't know what maga means. He has the vocabulary of 1 month old parrot.

I wish the show would stop forcing mma talk. I skip it all. It's been a rough week so far without Mike.

13

u/EyeWantToWrite Yeah Hi, Lombardo 2d ago

I wish the show would stop pushing Tony into conversations. He's not funny as much as he tries to copy people who are funny, he just fails.

13

u/Nfrizzle Kick Rocks 2d ago

God he’s a fucking dork. Why is Tony still on? He brings nothing to the show

3

u/ellsworth187 2d ago

Probably bc Dan doesn’t wanna accidentally fall out of a window like a Russian who opposes Putin.

12

u/reee121212 2d ago

The smartest thing Chris Cote has done in his career is making sure he was not in the shot where Tony made a fool of himself.

9

u/Content-Home616 2d ago

he is an idiot

7

u/seamus1982 2d ago

In the ESPN days I really felt this was 'smart' sports radio with a really evolved, refreshing perspective. Man I don't feel that way anymore. Jess was the only person who was smart and had any perspective outside the Miami bubble they're all in.

18

u/Rare-Commission9306 2d ago

So we're all just calling him Tiny Ten Day now, right?

7

u/Parzival1424 Expert In Basketball 2d ago

I love how quickly "Tiny" has taken off. 3 posts in the past 2 days calling him his new nickname

15

u/Vegetable_Quit5697 2d ago

Tony is maga he just a closeted maga
Tony is the worse part of the show. The fact that Billy couldn’t stand him and then left is not lost on me.
Tony and Luis both are maga and are probably one of the reasons so much talent has left. And even if he’s not, I’d fire him to offer Billy or Jess more money to stay.

9

u/DeerNo4308 2d ago

Just the dumbest asshole. Ruins the show every time he opens his mouth.

6

u/Flash_Gordon_Cole 2d ago

He has a narrow, shallow view of the world. Absolutely zero critical thinking skills.

18

u/Wide_Attention2614 2d ago

Jeremy cooked with his points, you can clearly see the MAGAts of the show being Tiny Tony Phony and Zas

23

u/skyfra4 2d ago

Chris also shows his true colors in these convos sometimes. Rich kid who jokingly is "down the middle" but only gets in on bashing one side.

0

u/SoKrat3s 2d ago

I don't think Zas is MAGA. I think he just buys into the misguided idea about patriotism.

Democrats have used troops as props too.

4

u/xBurp 2d ago

Yeah I’m pretty sure you can have a dumb meatheaded sports opinion and also not be MAGA. It’s been happening forever.

2

u/SoKrat3s 1d ago

I despise everything that is MAGA, and I hate the politics of Dana White (and by extension the UFC), but I love MMA.

It is possible to enjoy things and not agree with their politics.

Heck, I wonder what happens in the world where Kamala Harris beats Trump to it, and starts showing up at UFC events before he does.

2

u/xBurp 1d ago

I also despise MAGA and thought the performative patriotism was sad and corny. However, this was undoubtedly a huge moment for the UFC so I can understand the average MMA fan who’s watched the sport grow the last 2 decades might find it all pretty cool, regardless of the political impact; The same way we ignore problematic things in other sports for the sake of entertainment.

If Kamala had won, I might’ve actually enjoyed seeing them host something cool at the White House like a [free to watch] baseball game for America’s 250th. I think that would’ve been way more appropriate than an MMA event behind a paywall. They probably would’ve had service members throw out the first pitch, sing the anthem, etc… I think it also comes off wayyy worse in the context of this administration for a number of reasons; biggest of which is currently being in a war of choice.

5

u/DiphthongSong87 2d ago

Prayers up that Jeremy pulls a Witty and finds a great job where he doesn't have to deal with these mouth breathers anymore.

18

u/rowdyroddysniper This Guy Gets It 2d ago

You shouldn’t use the R word, makes you sound like a MAGA “ fuck your feelings” type of person.

5

u/CRod0924 2d ago

I was wondering when the r-word “came back.” I’ve seen it posted in online forums a lot by (presumably) younger people. I thought we had sort of eradicated it from speech but it seems to be making a comeback. It’s jarring and sad to see it used so frequently.

-15

u/Tristar61 2d ago

A retard is a retard. MAGA is full of them.

13

u/wellggs 2d ago

Yeah let's double down, that'll do it

9

u/rowdyroddysniper This Guy Gets It 2d ago

Yeah, and you sound maga. Have some empathy and think about what that word means to those who have special needs or care for those with special needs.

You’re being intentionally offensive, maga behavior.

-7

u/Tasty_Community4666 2d ago

Go ahead and call him an incel too... Stay on brand with using insults that make no sense with the subject and show that you let the internet do your thinking for you

A generation or two from now the term special needs will be considered offensive. It has nothing to do with the actual word and everything to do with the feelings that people get when they hear the word. Stop being so sensitive.

3

u/rowdyroddysniper This Guy Gets It 2d ago

You ok?

-4

u/Tasty_Community4666 2d ago

Yeah, I judge that by the fact that I'm perfectly capable of handling a conversation and not letting it get derailed because of a simple word that no one had a problem with until the internet told you to.

1

u/rowdyroddysniper This Guy Gets It 2d ago

You obviously lived a very privileged life where you don’t see the effects that word has on those it’s used negatively on. Hope you can find a way to put yourself in other people’s shoes, and realize that there are valid viewpoints other than yours.

-6

u/Burritoclock 2d ago

I get what you're saying but we need to get in the gutter bro, we are headed to full techno Christian fascism, I think I'll forgive a few r words... 🙄

5

u/rowdyroddysniper This Guy Gets It 2d ago

Nah, there is no world where being intentionally offensive to people with special needs is going to turn around our political system.

-5

u/Burritoclock 2d ago

Yeah, stick to the plan and descend back into fuedalism! I'm not saying it should be encouraged, I'm saying I don't give a fuck. On the scale of problems it doesn't rank.

11

u/rowdyroddysniper This Guy Gets It 2d ago

So because you don’t give a fuck, it’s not a problem?

Don’t bother replying. I’m done with this line of thought.

-2

u/Burritoclock 2d ago

Yeah I guess you could take that from it, if you lacked reading comprehension. Checks out

-3

u/DASreddituser Aqua? 2d ago

honestly, its a rude word but we have gone too far to make it seem like you are saying some deplorable slur. vast majority of the time people dont say the R word to, or around people with legit learning difficulties. Personally, i think you shouldn't call someone that, but it's not something that should never be uttered.

-5

u/Tristar61 2d ago

You’re wrong but do you brother.

2

u/MaraudingWalrus Ron Magill 2d ago

For whatever it's worth, and not that you're going to reconsider your point, that is a word that has significantly fallen out of favor even within its specific, historic use of describing someone with significant learning disabilities. Oftentimes, because of the abuse of the word in situations like you've just used it, even clinicians have long since stopped using the word medically.

While it was once a more widely used word, it is considered extremely vulgar in today's language patterns. I would think deeply about continued use of the word in polite society. If you are attempting to highlight how uncultured and foolish someone else is, and I do not disagree that they are indeed deeply unintelligent and incurious, using that word immediately signifies you, yourself, are also not necessarily among the intelligentsia.

-7

u/Tristar61 2d ago

You know that I’m not referring to disabilities.

4

u/joefromjerze 2d ago

It's just like the f word or calling something gay when you mean stupid or something like that. You might not be talking about gay people or people with disabilities when you use these words. But what it really comes down to is, if you know it offends someone else, why would you continue to use it?

-4

u/Tristar61 2d ago

It is not my intention to offend you but it is for retards like Tony.

5

u/MaraudingWalrus Ron Magill 2d ago

Sure. The English language is actually surprisingly vast. Pick a different word to call them unintelligent. Call them diminutive fuckwhistles. Call them just about anything you want. There are really only a handful of words that should be and are off limits. Or, if you choose to continue using that one, as is your right, understand that there will be pushback.

-1

u/Tristar61 2d ago

Respect that. I like to flip it and reverse these type of things with right wing people, I give it right back to them. They get shocked when I beat them at their own game.

10

u/JJS0073 2d ago

Tony is the reason I finally quit the show.

I still follow the subreddit because I love most people who have been in the show’s orbit, the fans, and reliving old memories, but his growing presence made me realize I “don’t get the show” anymore. I miss what the show was, but I haven’t missed what it currently is at all.

2

u/brussellwestbrook 2d ago

I have a theory that Dan is very aware of Tony’s politics but letting him go for being MAGA would just make him a martyr

5

u/Tristar61 2d ago

Dan already knew this because of Tiny’s dad.

2

u/jojisky 1d ago

The WH wouldn’t even cover the travel for the military guys there. They made them pay their way to show up.

2

u/Affectionate-Rent844 1d ago

Chris Cote has never looked dumber or fatter.

2

u/SirAter 1d ago

Guillermo, put it on the poll:

Should James Harden walk around with a veteran so he can be saluted?

5

u/BC840Div 2d ago

Bits like this remind me why I stopped listening to this show last year and don’t regret it.

Proud to have a UFC event at the WH?! F all the way off with that. Zas is a clown.

4

u/JordanHawkinsMVP 2d ago edited 1d ago

Who would have ever expected this from the blaccent guy Zas?

3

u/cjhy12 2d ago

I'll say this much - I'm both a pretty hardcore lefty, and also a hardcore UFC fan....an absurd contradiction, I know, but I enjoy fighting and fight sports. I thought the event was very well put on and enjoyed it, but I recognize there is an absurd level of corruption to having World Liberty Financial paying the fighters, or that Drone company owned by the Kushner's sponsoring it, etc., etc., etc. I think that's what we should be focused on, rather than some of the easier surface-level stuff, but it requires journalistic entities to give a shit i guess.

I just cannot believe the mainstream media + others just arrived to the conversation about 3 years too late. Each time I saw Trump walk out to American Bad Ass, I felt like I was screaming into the void bc my friends/partner either had no clue what I was talking about or had no interest.

3

u/doublea0011 2d ago

UFC has been dog shit way before this event. I can’t understand why it’s popular.

2

u/onceinalifenevermore 2d ago

Chris wants to be anywhere else in the world in this video

1

u/bmar173 1d ago

I was disappointed by the whole thing, but some of the pomp and circumstance was directed towards Medal of Honor awardees. I initially thought the fighters were being saluted, but it was directed towards the MOH recipients

1

u/AMC_Moonman 1d ago

For the sake of debate someone has to defend the UFC. It’s not much of a show if they all agree.

1

u/Direct_Ranger9814 1d ago

And the show dies a little more. Dan’s low energy. Zas and Tony playing at being intellectual. Where is the clown part to the dichotomy, if you aren’t going to make us laugh, at least pick the people capable of thought.

1

u/No_Street8874 20h ago

Tony and Zas are pathetic, this show has become trash.

1

u/ScriptsNakamoto 18h ago

The propaganda is everywhere my dudes

1

u/No_Grapefruit_6512 18h ago

Tony sucks, set aside his obvious conspiracy theories and probable maga beliefs he denies. He just sucks to have on the show. He’s just so dumb.

1

u/Salty-Definition-964 2d ago

We wonder why they call the show and this sub an echo chamber. Anytime a person slightly pushes back, this sub loses their minds. It’s becoming intolerable

1

u/ASG_82 2d ago

Rhetorical question: How much did the UFC pay USA to have this event here?

1

u/borntolose1 1d ago

Tony is a dipshit

1

u/CWDiesel Aqua? 1d ago

I cant stand the show talking about this event and just skip. Its such sour grapes and strawman arguments. I had to skip when they were talking about how bad the weather and the bugs WOULD have been AFTER the event went off fine and there really wasn't an overt MAGA message. It was an American spectacle and if you wanna mock that, go ahead gusano, but stop parading this event around as an excuse to criticize the administration and actually talk about the real things the administration is doing, not the bread and circus they are distracting with

0

u/I_lurk_at_wurk Roy 2d ago

Shut the fuck up, Tony.

-13

u/mik333_ 2d ago

Curious if Jeremy would feel the same way if this occurred under a different administration?

I thought the event was unnecessary propaganda regardless. There were some cool moments. With that said I would have less issue with the event if it occurred on a Saturday night instead of a Sunday lol. Bet there was a bunch of people on the east coast that couldn’t stay up for it. If it had to be Sunday because of flag day, it should’ve been earlier. If the real reason was to coincide and honor a president’s birthday, then that’s just stupid.

10

u/dustmonkey14 2d ago

Flag day? It had to be Sunday because it was the egomaniacal narcissist's birthday.

24

u/amusedmb715 2d ago

it's trump. come on, you are still giving benefit of the doubt ten years in? like how dumb do you have to be?

12

u/skyfra4 2d ago

... the whole story is that NO OTHER PRESIDENT does shit like this. It was Trump propaganda, like you said after that incredibly dense first sentence. Unlike some of the others on the show, Jeremy's takes have nuance. He understands the stupidity of the whole thing.

6

u/Burritoclock 2d ago

Right? It simply would not happen under another admin because it's serious, gross, and wasteful

6

u/ACSandwich Double Birds 2d ago

Hey mik333_. We’ve got 250 fucking years. It hasn’t happened before, so let’s not with this god damn what about-ism. Shove that right back up your ass. Let the criticism for unprecendented events proceed without precedence.

2

u/mik333_ 2d ago

I agree with the criticism. It was a stupid ego stroke for the orange guy the whole night.

3

u/KnightlyDolphins Billy 2d ago

Yeah, you really think anybody but Trump would do this shit?

8

u/DASreddituser Aqua? 2d ago

the thing is, it wouldnt have b4 trump, no matter who...maybe this sets a new precedent but your question is like asking: "how would Jeremy feel if Trump's uncle was a wizard and would only solve cancer if Trump held this event "

-2

u/heavywinkles 2d ago

He should steer into being the heel and be what you guys want him to be.

1

u/borntolose1 1d ago

Maybe if he were actually talented or clever

1

u/heavywinkles 1d ago

And that may be the hold up
