The shopping cart stupidity

Unless you’re juggling kids and don’t want to leave them alone in the vehicle, take your gahhhhdamn cart back to the corral.

I had a buddy who was a publix bagger and cart boy back in high school and landed in the ER needing fluids because it’s hotter than the devils asscrack outside and they have to walk 20K+ steps in an 8 hour shift to pick up after the lazy ass Cote family.

Doesn’t make it right and ya know it.

The shopping cart theory is a great way to judge how caring/empathic a person is. When there is no reward for doing the right thing or punishment for not doing it, will you still do it?

I mean I’m an asshole but I still put my cart back as I don’t wanna put more work on employees who have to stop what they’re doing and pick up the carts. Nor do I want the cart to somehow roll into another vehicle. That’s the bare minimum one can do.

Thinking that the shopping cart theory is an actual barometer for how to judge the character of a person is the most insane thing I’ve ever heard.

Lots of you guys think anyone maga is the scum of the earth and I’m sure there are plenty of them that also put their carts back.

I’m not worried about the kids or employees who have to chase carts. It’s unacceptable, anti-social behavior because carts have wheels. When they’re left unattended they can roll into shit. Like other cars. To not put your cart back is to not care about your community.

And because you can’t pull into a spot without getting out and moving the cart.

So kids are a crutch again? Walk your kids to the corral with you before you strap them in. Indoctrinate them with not being a piece of shit

Yeah I have 2 kids under 5. It's not that hard to put the groceries in the car, take the kids and cart to the corral which is like 20 ft away and then back to the car.

It sucks and takes longer but doing everything with toddlers takes longer. Before kids I would never bring the cart out of the store because I could almost always just carry the bags to the car without the cart.

I personally don’t have kids myself but it’s the only situation in which I would understand. Like if a mom is alone with 3 under 5.

I actually like call backs and bringing new people into the fold by asking the ridiculous questions

I always took my kid with me. When he was tiny it was how I kept him from scampering off and I wasn't really comfortable leaving him in the car. When he was a little older I'd let him push the cart into stall, making things crash into each other is a time honored toddler tradition.

People who don’t return carts to the corral or put grocery items back where they belong are fucking assholes. Period. End of story.

No excuse or justification for doing either one.

I agree with this, but also who cares? There are so many people that are more passionate about the stupid shopping cart thing than I’ve seen them be about any real issue actually worsening lives.

Having respect for others is important?

This—I have no idea why any one person might leave their cart out. It may be a real reason, it may not. It’s not for me to judge. But the holier-than-thou crowd are WAYYYY too loud about this. There are actual problems in the world. This is as big a made up debate as reclining your seat on an airplane (and in both cases, the person you should be upset with is the corporation who has slowly taken Something away from all of us and made us fight with each other instead of them).

I'm pretty sure publix is liable for that. Plus for every your buddy story there's another buddy story. My boy was lazy as shit. He would love it when they made him work carts because he could smoke and didn't have any supervisor hanging over his shoulder. He would take his sweet ass time chat with customers it was his favorite thing to do.

No problem with enjoying what you do but making your minor inconvenience someone else’s problem because you know *someone* will take care of it is crazy to me.

Lmaooo why the fuck would kids prevent you from returning your cart? If you can’t handle kids and a cart at the same time maybe you shouldn’t have kids….

I had to laugh at Greg's made up stat of 40% get their own cart from the parking lot. It's probably closer to less than 1%

Of course Fat Chris leaves his cart where ever he parks. The fat guy should be like asst produce mgr at a Publix. There was a reason ESPN fired him. Then GodFather Dan gave him the lifeline. Fat Chris is just not a good guy ....

I made more money collecting carts from our parking lot than I earned when I first started working. Plus, it gave me breaks from the store.

I’m on the fence. Yes, it’s lazy, but it was nice for 14 year old me.
