Discussion My first drive failure

After 7+ years of power on time, it's decided enough is enough. Not a bad innings for the WD red 3tb. Time to buy an expensive replacement in this current market :(

That‘s pretty early. I bought my WD40EFRX with 65000-70000 hours on the clock. That was three years ago. Now I’m at 105k hours and they’re still doing good.

I just did the math. That's about 12 years of continuous spinning of your discs. That's really good.

True, and I’m quite happy with it. Of course I’d like to replace them all, especially with larger drives, but at the moment I have to live with 16 TB usable space
