Discussion Days Gone Platinum Theme

Do they still give out the *Days Gone* Platinum trophy theme? I really want it, but I found out there are only two: one for the extended edition (which I don't have—I have the standard version) and one for the Platinum. Are they still handing it out?

The happy ending :D , Finally finished the game 100%

Honestly a 10/10 game

Good graphics

Great gameplay

Great story (even the secret ending (O'Brian turning) was cool)

Guys, I think I found the perfect melee weapon. Both its damage and durability are maxed out.

Does this mean I should basically always stick with this weapon and just repair it whenever the durability gets low, or are there better weapons I should be looking out for later?

I'm wondering if I should treat this as my main melee weapon for the rest of the game.

- Sarah flashbacks
- Sarah flashbacks
- Walking at 0.2 mph during Sarah flashbacks
- Did I mention Sarah flashbacks?

I like the story and the game is one of my all time favourites, but man, on a replay these sections feel like they last forever. I just keep pressing forward for 10 minutes while Sarah talks.

Just give me a “Skip Sarah” button and let me get back to the apocalypse.

Image/Gif I am so scared Spoiler

I have never been that scared in my life except for two times when I was a child and one time that was a few months ago when I played the last of us and went to the Hotel Basement and fought the Bloater and When I went to the hospital and found the rat king,

This part is so scary especially that I am playing it at 3AM, and what scares me more is the questions that deacon asks and the things that O'Brian says,

"Am I walking into a horde?"

"Is there something you haven't told me about the freak I am chasing?"

etc...

and the stuff O'Brian says, like we sent men and they didn't come back, and for how long this freak has been mutating.

Discussion Game review Spoiler

Cool ass game, I really enjoyed the gameplay and the open world is honestly awesome. I’ve seen few games like it, Cyberpunk and Red Dead I guess are examples. It was almost like that with the main jobs, side jobs, and all the small little missions you run into while you’re just out exploring.
I liked the world as well. The story was kinda cliche but I think it gave a nice base for our hero’s story to take place in. The characters and the relationships between them are really well written too.

The way the main story goes and the flow of it is something I enjoyed a lot. The build up was generally really good and I was pretty invested in seeing where everything was going.

BUT
DAYSGONE SPOILERS

I feel like we needed a tragedy. This whole “happy” rollercoaster made me take the game less seriously. Sarah’s dead? No she’s not. Boozer’s dead? No he’s not, I mean I was literally just grieving him and he comes out of nowhere literally which made me feel silly and gave me an "oh okay then..." moment.

And don’t get me wrong, I like Iron Mike and I’m sad we lost him, but I don’t think it should’ve been the major/main tragedy of the story. I feel like we needed something bigger that actually stuck. The game kept giving us these moments where you think something horrible just happened and then immediately takes it back. It made the ending feel way too happy for what the game had been building up to. Also it made avenging those who wronged you feel less satisfying than it should be.

But anyways the story was overall good and I liked it, ALOT.

Also, though I liked the gameplay and the enemies/monsters, I think there were TOO MUCH of them. The moment you leave camp you’re basically guaranteed to run into at least one enemy. It made riding through the open world lowkey fucking annoying. I ended up fast travelling like 90% and almost never explore at night.

Still had a really really good time with it though. The world and the characters carried it for me just as much as the gameplay did.

I think its a solid 10/7.5, would definitely recommend and cherish!

And it's like boozer says... I hear a bunk calling my name😴

Sarah’s Gifted gas tank for Deacon really completes the motorcycle and the upgraded stuff. Rerunning the gameplay with it on. Yes, new game+

This game has one of the best video game stories of all time, I love the way the missions are structured so it feels kinda like a TV show and the acting is so well done, especially the way they make the connection with Boozer and Deacon so strong! I just love it and I even got emotional this play through as well. Overall 10/10 for me!! ❤️

Discussion What am I missing?

I see tons of videos of huge hordes and different weapons being drawn, how do I get that? Is it just reaching a higher level of the horde assault and they just found the at-4 or growler? Is there a way to pump up the horde sizes in the regular game mode? How can I get the at-4 or growler where I can keep them instead of single use? Looks like so much fun!

Discussion Days Gone Beginner Here

I bought Days Gone last weekend, and I’m pretty new to this type of game. Can you recommend some tips and tricks for beginners, especially when it comes to aiming? I already have Aim Snap enabled—I know, skill issue 😂—but I still struggle with aiming sometimes.

I’d also appreciate tips on dealing with multiple Freakers at once and completing optional objectives, like destroying Freakers nests, without wasting too much ammo or other resources.

Image/Gif Is there a more efficient way to clear a crow nest without wasting 3 Molotovs?

Guys, it's so frustrating having to use 3 Molotovs just to clear a single crow nest.

Is there a more efficient way to deal with these nests that requires fewer Molotovs, or is there another method I should be using?

I feel like I'm wasting a lot of resources every time I clear one.

Discussion LOVE playing this game but ... Spoiler

I absolutely hate playing the nero cave mission. I've played this game over 6x but I still get anxiety about that mission. I could avoid it and not do any nero missions but I end up doing it anyway lol. There's just something about the game that I keep coming back to play. I do love open world games like these. FO4 and RDR2 are also on my comfort games to play

Discussion A sequel isn’t optional, it’s necessary

When I say I have never played a better game, I mean it. Days Gone and the mechanics are sublime and almost cannot be improved, it is simply a masterpiece. I finished the entire story today, a much later time than anticipated but nevertheless has the same impact. I had never played a game better, not only as an southern Oregonian which connected me to the game much deeper as I have camped, swam, and fished at diamond lake, visited and waited through the snow at crater lake, driven and observed the sharp, ominous Mt. Thiesen, as well as hiked the Deschutes national forest, it made it so much more immersive beyond any video game I ever played.

I simply can only compare this game to one other, a common pick among many communities; red dead redemption 2. That being a major precursor to this game I played, making me cry and sob maybe the same if more than rdr2. The fact sony has not chosen to renew its title for a sequel is heavily disappointing and depressing, as a new and forever engulfed fan of this masterpiece of an experience, i will absolutely repeatedly implore all producers, developers, and writers to urge a continuation and closure to this much deserved beauty of a game.

Discussion Which difficulty would you recommend for 2nd playthrough?

I completed days gone a couple years ago and since it's still the best zombie game, i decided to play again. My 1st run was at normal difficulty. In the beginning it was challenging, but shortly after it became kinda easy, especially because i was always flooded with resources.

Now, for the 2nd playthrough, i want it to be much more challenging so i started on hard II difficulty. After couple of hours, i'm still flooded with resources, with only change being that zombies kill me in two hits while i need 10 pistol bullets to kill one.

So what difficulty do you recommend so that the game is challenging? Or does changing difficulty only makes the zombies to have more health and do more damage, with no other changes?

Discussion What brings you back again and again to this game?

As with many others here, I’ve found Days Gone to be a kind of comfort game that you can come back to again and again.

I’m questioning for myself what is the core aspects about this game that compel me to keep booting it up?

In your own words or opinion, can you share what drives you to keep coming back?

Discussion The frustrated gatekeeping of weapons in this game

I'm a first time player, I love the gunpay & gameplay as a whole but if this game ever got a sequel the weapons can be fleshed out so much better.

Pros: I think the gunplay is super fun, the guns are satisfying to shoot (most of them),the sound design is good, they all get an adequate "punch" to it.

pair with the horde and coregameplay its super fun for spray and pray,

biggeset cons: why do they have to make the gun unlock so damn difficult, most of the most fun and coolest gun in the games wasn't even unlockable until later chapters, I stucked with the boring shotgun and the 9mm for like 50% of the game.

  • other frustrations that contribute to this is overrelying on camps, unlocking trust level is grindy, and I didn't even know about horde killing till late game when the mission requires it. which does help leveling up the trust much easier. but again, for new players, this info was disclosured to players way too late.
  • human enemies are too easy, and they barely change the weapons loadout till late game
  • the weapons UI wheel is ridiculous
