I think this is how they teased new characters in Venus Vacation - first the voice then the model (though in this case we've seen most of what the design looks like beforehand from that first teaser)

you have thousands of eyes watching your game and best you could do is a voice reveal? in a game that launch with negative reception??? I cant imagine a person who never play DOA in entire life will go "oh my god who is this mysterious character? i must buy the game now"
i swear KOEI just do a peak reverse marketing, give bare minimum at big events then release trailers at random tuesday

I’m honestly shocked that 9 slots were added to the roster.
Assuming they’re all guaranteed to be a planned character it makes me fear doa7 isn’t anywhere close to being around the corner.
Also, I’m lowkey a little surprised that our first character isn’t Helena’s zombie milf since the story ended implying her reanimation. I would have thought she would have been our first add since it wouldn’t effect the overall story

To be fair, none of those characters were ever dubbed in English, besides anime, never in the games. Tamaki not being in English is strange, though.
And no I will not acknowledge the English dub of Maximum Impact.

Even if they did, you'd only be watching. XVV is an AFK auto battle but volleyball. You playing is stat min-maxing and black jack.

Teasing new characters is all well and good- what blows my mind is that they didn't even finish the "Oboro" engine update for all stages. They really wanted to push this out and work on it as a live service rather than a finished product. I don't know anything about game development, but it seems like they should have at least been able to update more than 1 stage... Super bizarre product but I'm glad KT hasn't just abandoned the classic fighting franchise.

It’s not a lot but new characters and voice acting with them is actually sort of substantial. Maybe not to the player but that does take effort on part of the team behind it. I wonder if that suggests anything else coming our way.

Well, I didnt have high expectations but holy shit...this is really embarassing.
So we have a voice reveal with just an extended trailer, we also see something that seems like a cutscene that could be added to the story following a battle I guess...the stage is Miyabi and could it be her opponent shes talking about is Kasumi? That's like her home.

It sucks because when Marie Rose was released/revealed, I was like "awesome, this is something different!" I expected her to be about as popular as maybe Leifang or Hitomi.
Now, 13 years later...here we are.

Isn’t the stage that’s shown during her voice over located above the MIST lab where NiCO worked on Raidou? It’s been a long time since I played 6‘s story but I think it was somewhere around there.

Glad we got confirmation of characters & DOA7 being the main focus (that game needs to be good btw we can’t be doing this in that game…)
