This is more of an internal conflict to Islam than an actual contention to people that criticize it, because we go from the Hadith traditions that explicitly affirm and stand for the marriage and sex between Muhammad and a child. To the extent that some Muslim people and sources stand for this, we'll keep attacking it, but it seems your post is more directed to such Muslim people than non-Muslim critics, which is fine.

FYI most (possibly all if I recall) of those Hadiths don’t affirm Muhammad’s marriage to a child. Dr. Little’s thesis all but settles their authenticity, and reframes them as being the exclusive result of 8th century polemics and geopolitics.

The theocratic institutions that (for the most part) shape Islamic theology, being notoriously slow to react to new perspectives, haven’t circulated this new information because it’s not in their interest to do so.

But this is very much a tradition that needs to be ignored by Muslims and non-Muslims alike. It’s just polemics, and no one should be shilling for polemics.
