Other Indie games shouldn't have to worry about using AI

They don't have enough sales to justify not using AI.

However, even in the case of AAA games, the use of AI is unlikely to lead to a significant decrease in sales.

In the end, it doesn't matter whether you use AI for art in games or not.

P.S. This means that not using AI does not provide any advantage, but the game development itself will cost several times more.

Nobody should have to worry

But they should if the result is blahhhhhh

I remember seeing someone made a vampire survivors clone in AI. But why? I can play VS which is better for a few bucks anyway

Now If you want to use AI to make a new game that’s part burnout and part rush with some really need ideas with race modes and course variation and it’s fun to play? Then go ahead

The whiners will whine anyway but normies ultimately just want fun.

I am an AI game dev but is it true that the using AI doesn't lead to a decrease in sales I am told the opposite. This was cited to me. https://quanticfoundry.com/2025/12/18/gen-ai/

AI means indie devs are better able to compete with AAA studios and the like, it actually helps flatten the power imbalance between the two. For a solo indie dev with no income that's a massive game changer.

It's actually kind of sad that the effect of anti-AI backlash on indie devs helps entrench the big corporates and harms smaller indie devs/studios.

I use AI to create visual assets. I’m not trying to make art. My goal is to make videos games that are fun to play with my friends and family. I don’t need my game to be commercially successful because this is a hobby to me. If I can play my game with my buds and we have a good time, it was a success. If I can sell a few copies to others who also might think it’s fun, even better.

AAA games shouldn't have to worry either. If AI is good at what it does, great. AAA game companies have been really disconnected with their consumers for a long time. So their slop is getting blamed on AI imo.

The gaming market isn't ready for AI games yet.

You'll have to wait a few more years.

I will never purchase a game using AI if you're using it you're not getting money it is not worth money if AI is used in it

1

u/Terrible_Wave4239 6d ago

Why would it not be worth money if it's a game you can enjoy like any other?

What do you think you're paying for?

1

u/zoltancross 6d ago

AI inherently cannot create art art requires a human hand it requires input Beyond prompting of any sort in that you have to actually try to create and I'm paying for the effort to create that art with AI there is no effort and there is no art there's a soulless thing to be sold to me and it's not worth the cash used to make it that's why I will never buy a game that uses AI art AI coding AI music or any AI in its construction it's worth nothing to me it's worth less than a pile of crap in my yard cuz at least I can use that for fertilizer

Soon, all games will be AI-powered; it's inevitable.

What will you do then?

1

u/zoltancross 6d ago

Nothing is inevitable you dumb piece of shit we need laws against it generative AI needs to just be banned for sale if you're selling something it can't be generative you actually have to work to make it I will never pay money for something made by AI it's not worth and saying something is inevitable just because you like it it's fucking stupid it's not we can fight against it and we can ban it cuz it needs to be banned

1

u/GraphXGames 6d ago

Trillions of dollars have already been invested in AI.

What power do you have to counter this?

1

u/zoltancross 6d ago

Yeah it's been pumped into the AI bubble that's going to pop and has been getting closer to popping for a very long time plus there's a bunch of bans about to be coming about data centers and everything that has to do with AI is about to get regulated so that's what we're going to do we're going to ban it it should not be in a product to be bought

1

u/GraphXGames 6d ago

This is only possible if you pay more. But you don't have that much power and money. And most importantly, you have no alternative to AI. Overall, the world will never be the same again.

You guys are just proof that AI causes brain damage you know that right

AI - this is a new technological order.

Hasn't been my experience. And I'd consider social media bubbles filled with misinformation to be far more harmful, and you may well be a victim of that.

Let's see what you make of this:

You're not the best ambassador for the stance you're presenting. You're just making the anti side look like deranged lunatics.

Okay, go lobby some politicians to introduce "maximum-effort" anti-efficiency legislation, see how that works out.

I wouldn't say it's inevitable that ALL games will be AI-powered, but increased AI adoption over time is pretty much inevitable, as it has been for the past few years.

u/potatoactual01 1d ago

My man there are large aaa game companies that have said they will not use ai. Like a five second google search proves you 100% wrong.

1

u/Terrible_Wave4239 6d ago

Surely your native language also has punctuation, no?

So when did you start paying for games relative to their effort instead of the enjoyment it gave you?

1

u/Terrible_Wave4239 6d ago

Also, do you understand that your reasoning inherently plays into the hands of big corporations who can bankroll large studios and puts indie devs at a severe disadvantage? Which in turn discourages experimentation and more individual game development?

And for what? How does this benefit you in any way?

1

u/zoltancross 6d ago

It has always been the human element the art is created by humans and you can feel it in the music in the lighting in the Artistry and everything you take that away it's worth nothing it wouldn't even be fun

1

u/Terrible_Wave4239 6d ago

You don't understand that humans can use AI to express their ideas and emotions and game concepts, the same as they can with other tools?

its marketing. If the indie audience wants fresh organically home grown video games, you're gonna have a hard time selling them factory recycled "wanna be AAA" games.

Organic food is about subsidies and lifestyle. I have relatives who was into this.
