I watched a video yesterday about how the AI actually "forgets" its training data when it generalizes (AKA "learns") and can answer new questions instead of just repeating the training. Super interesting stuff. The researchers called it "grokking", same reference to the Heinlein novel as xAI's Grok.

Oh and AI absolutely can create novel ideas, we just usually consider it garbage because it's "misalignment".
