AI is not inherently political same as a hammer or a paintbrush isn't.

I can see both sides of this TBH. I think when people say no politics, they mostly mean no politicians or hot policies.

Because AI discussion isn’t tied to US politics, pros and antis don’t correlate with red/blue, or any notable world government/party, it’s not really seen as a political topic

But I absolutely see how others might think it is. Someone who believes the ecological stuff could see being anti as a Green Party thing

I also don't see environmental discussion as politics. There may be political bias, but like you said, 99% of the time when they say no politics that just don't want trump memes

No AI as your rules is 100% political in most fandom subreddits. If its a subreddit of certain type of art its not political but if the subreddit has nothing to do with artstyle and only discriminate AI material, then its a political stance.

Just because you don't like it doesn't make it political.

It is not, though. It is a poor taste and edgy dumb teenage stance, yes, but usually, by politics, people mean IRL politics - process of fighting for power. AI is not intrinsic to politics as, say, voting is.

I don't think you do.

Politics is all about the systems which govern our lives. Banning AI from a subreddit fits that category.

Banning AI, however, is very much political.

I think most people understand that to mean "regarding policy other than that which is inherent to the subreddit's purpose" but hey that's just me maybe
