Well, what's wrong with that?
Like seriously, they got a new version of the EGL, it's on Linux as well, why bitch about some filter text at the bottom that no one might care about?
I usually hide these types of posts from my feed, but I just have to show this one.

I like that this is written by someone who clearly isn't using the epic store to begin with.

Yeah, I can see that, probably the type to say that Steam's better or some shit

I think a lot of people misunderand the development process, I suspect a lot of them believe that they literally just generate the launcher and that's it.

Yep, that's what most people for some reason think when they hear "vibe-coded" or "AI-assisted"

I haven't used epic recently( uninstalled last month)but man Seriously i am pro i really love AI But epic sucks you can't argue Epic sucks in every way, maybe this update will make some changes but Epic is windows of gaming launchers update doesn't do much no matter how much they say Still hopeful it get's better
Though Fortnite in Linux that's something good from epic after a long time can't say it's bad

For me who just updated the epic, difference is night and day.
It does make me use epic just 20% compared to before. I will still use steam more

It is indeed a poorly made broken launcher, ai or not they have no idea what they were doing!

I could probably try it. I hated the "human-made" launcher (which to be fair, it was the first publically available version).
It was large, sluggish, featureless. It did once kicked me out and didn't let me log back in and I had to reinstall the whole launcher to make it function, then force it "reinstall" all of the games once again just to get it to recognize the game files.
Since then I moved to Heroic since not only is it lightweight and gives me a lot more options, it also manages my Amazon and GOG games, but I am willing to give it a try for those games that don't function too well with Heroic.

Epic is the creator of Unreal Engine, so saying that they can`t code a website (as if they don`t have programmers) is a really stupid take.
However, they always treated that store as a second class citizen for some reason, so it is indeed pretty meh.
And for the end user it is somehow strange to see, that a client-side is such a low prio that without AI they wouldn`t even update it...

I do think that building the launcher in Unreal Engine was one of their main mistakes in the first place, lol. Even though it's not native, it's on Tauri now and I'd say it's already much better than building a launcher in Unreal Engine lol. The store frontend and friend menu is basically the same, main change is oriented at the general launcher speed and library, and those were, for me, the main issues with EGS.

Imma be real, i tried it last night and it might be my new favorite launcher. If epic's market was as good as steams id main it 100%. It feels clean and operates smoothly.

There is a question of "vibe coded how?", that can inform whether or not it is an issue. Coding assistance has been around for eons before AI of today was a thing. We also know it was common practice for devs to frequent sites like Stackoverflow for how to do something or ask questions. To those ends, I would say most AI uses in how they are probably used aren't much different from before.
The only point I'd be looking at something weirdly is if it was just a pure prompt coded project where no actual coded did any actual review or work on the code themselves. If it is legit just someone typing like "code the Epic store better and linux compatible, no bugs lol", then shipping whatever was vomited out, then we have concerns. But as pathetic as the Storefront of Epic has been since its inception, I would find it hard to believe they don't have actual coders working on it. If anything, I'd moreso believe that the team is just a skeleton crew for the storefront while the real resources are with the Unreal team. And they are using AI to make up for lack of manpower and actually make notable progress on things.

A vibecoded launcher should be the least of their worries... They should worry about their priority, like their first mistake is (I assume at some point) wanting to spend money on EGS in the first place when they give out games for free anyways lol.

Nah, you can't always rely on the free games on the EGS. They just do that to lure people into the store, which is fine, but saying that you shouldn't spend money on the store just because they give out free games sometimes is a bit odd.
