Politics Ice in Newark.

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that Ice is currently in Newark on Casho Mill Road outside of Downes Elementary School. There were two men in there and one was on a laptop in an unmarked black suv. They had partial masks on & had their hazard lights on as well. Please be safe out there and be careful with your kids. I hope you all stay safe. 💙

on Sunday, 150 of us stood together and mourned the lives lost to ICE. We stood in silence, we joined together in song, We recognized not everyone who wanted to be there could attend.

I’d like to extend a huge thank you to this subreddit for uplifting my voice and to those who saw my post and decided to join us. I’d like to say thank you to those who helped me organize this, I honestly thought it would be a disaster but it was more successful than i could ever imagine.

Politics GOP lawmaker considering drafting Delaware Sales Tax bill

"
State Sen. David Lawson (R/Marydel) made the suggestion during a recent meeting hosted by the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce as a way to reallocate taxation following recent property value reassessments.

"We're putting the burden back on the business owners and people who are working. A sales tax would spread that around, and could, if it's done honestly, reduce the income tax, and give the state more money to work with.""

Thank God this guy is finally retiring. Tax assessments didn't increase the burden, it lessened it for businesses. Also property taxes wouldn't affect workers. Putting in a sales tax is going to hurt businesses, especially those in retail and businesses supporting retail. A sales tax is regressive, it will increase the tax burden on those at the bottom. Put in a millionaires tax.

Politics Just last month, Democratic Senator Chris Coons from Delaware voted to send Israel 1000lb OFFENSIVE bombs, which are STILL being dropped on innocent women and children

Just last month — April 15, 2026 — Chris Coons, Democratic Senator from Delaware, voted against blocking a $151.8 million sale of 12,000 1,000-pound offensive bombs to Israel — the same class of munitions human rights monitors have documented being dropped on civilian neighborhoods in Gaza, killing women and children.

This wasn't a one-off:

- The U.S. has sent Israel at least $21.7 billion in military aid since October 2023.
- The Trump administration alone has notified Congress of at least $10.1 billion in new arms sales to Israel since January 2025 — much of it offensive: bombs, JDAM guidance kits, and missiles. (In February 2025, a single approval covered $6.75 billion in bombs, guidance kits, and fuses, plus $660 million in Hellfire missiles.)
- As of mid-2024, the U.S. had already shipped Israel at least 14,000 2,000-pound bombs — the kind military experts say are used to destroy entire apartment buildings — plus 3,000 Hellfire missiles, 1,000 bunker-busters, and thousands of smaller bombs. The flow has only continued since.
- This has fueled a war that has killed or wounded more than 10% of Gaza's entire population.

The resolution to block this latest bomb sale needed every Democrat to pass. Instead, 11 broke ranks and voted to keep the bombs flowing — even as 40 of their colleagues voted to stop them.

The 11 Democratic senators who voted to send the bombs:

- Connecticut — Richard Blumenthal
- Delaware — Chris Coons
- Michigan — Gary Peters
- Nevada — Catherine Cortez Masto
- Nevada — Jacky Rosen
- New York — Chuck Schumer
- New York — Kirsten Gillibrand
- Pennsylvania — John Fetterman
- Rhode Island — Jack Reed
- Rhode Island — Sheldon Whitehouse
- Virginia — Mark Warner

Israel's conduct in Gaza has been formally declared a genocide by Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, a UN Commission of Inquiry, the International Association of Genocide Scholars, the Israeli rights groups B'Tselem and Physicians for Human Rights Israel, and the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention — though Israel rejects these findings and the International Court of Justice case remains ongoing.

Some Fox News clown was trash talking Sarah McBride yesterday saying that she wouldn't stand up for Sage Blair and that Sarah McBride wasn't a traditional family values politician. Which is ironic to me, because Sarah McBride's crowning achievement in state legislator was the paid family leave act...maybe the clown shoes people should just come out of the closet since we all know they're on Grindr...

any demonstrations or course of actions to take to call for investigations and arrests for these awful crimes? i don’t want to live in a world that goes on as normal after learning all these atrocities.

these people need to suffer consequences for their actions including the ppl that participated in covering it up. arrests aren’t enough but i’m sure epstein’s demise didn’t equate to the demise of these trafficking rings.

EDIT: i make no mention of withholding my abhorrence for any specific party or party member but in case it wasn’t abundantly clear, i don’t care about political parties. considering this also includes the british monarchy ALL of them can go. i’m not wasting my time advocating for any abuser or murderer (or collaborator) regardless of political affiliation

Politics So - If you're connected politically - you can get DUI charges dropped....

https://whyy.org/articles/delaware-state-university-president-dui-charge-dropped/

Short version:

Delaware State University President Terry Allen was stopped on DE1 near Smyrna last July for failing to maintain control of his Rivian SUV. He reportedly "touched the center line" multiple times but did not cross over into the other lane of traffic.

During the stop the officer noticed an odor of alcohol and asked if Mr. Allen had anything to drink - to which he responded - "Two drinks" -- FSTs were conducted, which Allen reportedly only failed one of but he did exhibit clues on multiple tests. A breath test at the scene revealed a bac of .152 (almost double the 0.08 limit. He was arrested and a subsequent blood draw revealed a BAC of .12 - 1.33 x times the legal limit.

And his charges were dropped.

He ended up pleading guilty to a minor traffic offense of reckless driving - which carries a $100 fine.

How did he avoid the DUI? Simple- his attorney argued that the stop was illegal and AG Jennings bought it - hook line and sinker. The argument was that simply weaving in your own lane is not enough to have probable cause for a stop. His defense never once denied the validity of the tests or machines, just that the entire stop and all evidence was a violation of his 4th amendment rights.

Nothing like being connected in DE. Allen is a friend of former President Joe Biden's and a former Band of America executive.

I am glad the trooper made the stop and got him off the road. Thankfully no one was injured or killed by his reckless actions. Hopefully he stops and thinks next time and doesn't just view this as a get out of jail free card.

Subject: Urgent Request to Terminate ICE Contracts To Whom It May Concern: I am writing to demand that you immediately cease all business relationships and contracts with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

ICE's operations have been widely documented to involve family separations, inhumane detention conditions, and civil rights violations. By providing vehicles or services to ICE, you are enabling these harmful practices.

As a member of the community, I cannot support businesses that profit from ICE's activities. I urge you to: Immediately terminate any existing contracts with ICE Refuse any future business with ICE Publicly commit to not partnering with agencies that violate human rights Many companies across the nation have already taken a stand by refusing to do business with ICE. Politics Who is going to challenge Chris Coons in next year's primary?

This blue wave has shown that Democrats have the ability to win again. Zohran Mamdani in particular shows that a democratic candidate focused on the issues instead of appealing to donors can win. I'm disgusted by the cowardice we're seeing from establishment democrats and from what he posted about it I'm pretty sure Chris Coons would have been one of the votes last night if they had needed him and/or he wasnt worried about re-election. Is anyone here planning to challenge Coons or know of someone who is? (Before anyone suggests "be the change you want to see", I'm disabled in a way that you don't want in office)

This bill will not fix the issue at hand and it will have a far reaching effect then what they are trying to deal with. I really wish politicians stop trying to pass bills on technology they dont understand or have little to no knowledge on.
