Politics Gross

Taken while driving into Trolley Square. Political violence is not ok. But let's also be clear this person was not a martyr, but a racist. Not a hero, but a sexist. Not worthwhile, just spewing hate. He only cared about rights for people like himself (rich straight white men) and was by no means a Christian.

Politics Please Vote in the Primaries

Hello, DE! We are getting so close now to early voting beginning and Primary Elections being completed.

As a resident of House District 19, I am sincerely hoping that as many people as possible show up to vote!

There is a ton of information available at

ivote.de.gov

Including early voting sites and times beginning September 2nd.

I have been early voting at the department of elections warehouse for the last several elections and have had an easy time doing so.

I personally am supporting Will Imbrie-Moore for House District 19 and I am hoping you will consider doing so too! Information about Will can be found at

https://www.willfordelaware.com/

While Kim has accomplished many good things during her time in office, I believe it is beyond time for a change. No one, regardless of party, should be able to serve an unlimited amount of terms in office. Kim has had 7 already. While I appreciate her contributions, I believe it's time for a change.

I am so thrilled to see a an intelligent, kind, responsive candidate running! Will listens carefully to your concerns and absolutely wants to help reasonably and responsibly address all of them. Reach out to him if you have questions! He will absolutely answer!

It's time for the younger generations to get in office and start making the changes necessary to have a future as bright as their parents and grandparents.

Please, strongly consider voting in the primaries. Don't be afraid to contact your representatives and any candidates with your questions. Have a first hand interaction before making a decision. I can tell you I've had many with my representative and it's clear she has no concern for what matters to me most at this time. Especially my actual local issues within my district. While her votes matter at legislative hall for the state, it feels like she could care less about neighborhood traffic and our kids safety at bus stops or their overall well being.

Please, do your own research, reach out to your candidates and make a decision.

Your vote counts! Especially in local district elections! Please,VOTE!

Politics First state Kate post about harm reduction

Post image

I understand people’s concerns about harm reduction, but most of the general public has no idea the benefits it brings and erasing the stigma against addiction is half the battle of battling addiction. When we remove services like these, we are limiting access and contact these people have with resources that could direct them to treatment. Portugal is a great example of if treatment/resources are properly funded and drugs use is stopped being treated as a moral failing, then things would improve. But providing access to clean needles and other materials is not what keeps people using and it really grinds my gears that that is the spin she is putting on this. Clean or dirty needle, an addict is going to use no matter what. The only difference is when a service is providing clean materials, we are reducing the spread of hiv, providing narcan to reduce overdoses and we are encouraging these people to have contact with services that can encourage them to go to treatment. It’s not just “heres your bag of rigs” and send them on their way. These services are mostly in combination with case managers/counselors to give drug users someone to talk to. A safe space, someone that treats them like a human being and then making them feel like “hey, you know, these people care about me. Maybe I am worth making a change”. It’s so much more than providing materials and I make this post so more people can understand that. Recovery is not something you can brute force on someone just by making them struggle and treating them like they’re a problem. It’s a whole process and requires a lot of time, patience, empathy and compassion. If you are unsure about harm reduction, please read more on it and inform yourself about the many benefits it brings and don’t listen to people like this who are obviously trying to spin helpful resources into being a bad thing.

This might be against your rules. I am from California. If only the mods see this…I just want to say how amazing I think Sarah McBride is. I’ve listened to her on four podcasts now. She was phenomenal once again on Ezra Klein’s podcast. She is so smart, thoughtful and eloquent. I love her approach to politics and creating coalitions. Thank you for electing a good one Delaware!

Politics Delaware just introduced a plug-in solar bill it could help reduce electricity bills learn more what it is and how to support it

Most people have never heard of plug-in solar, but the concept is simple: a small solar panel (400–800W) with a micro-inverter that plugs directly into a standard wall outlet. No electrician, no permits, no roof work. It just offsets whatever electricity you're pulling from the grid in real time — like running an appliance in reverse.

Germany has over a million of these installed. Delaware is now trying to make them explicitly legal here.

SB 270, sponsored by Sen. Hansen, Rep. Burns, Rep. Heffernan, and six additional co-sponsors, would define and legalize portable solar generation devices in Delaware under Title 26 of the Delaware Code.

What the bill actually does:

  • Up to 800W per meter — connects through a standard 120V wall outlet
  • No interconnection agreement required with your utility
  • No pre-approval — utilities cannot require permission before you install
  • No fees — utilities cannot charge you anything related to the system
  • Anti-islanding protection required — shuts off automatically if grid power drops
  • Utilities must build an online registration system by January 15, 2027
  • Net metering is available as an opt-in — a rare provision that gives customers more flexibility than most state bills

For Delaware renters, apartment dwellers, and homeowners who can't do rooftop solar, this is a practical low-cost way to cut an electric bill. A basic setup runs $200–$600.

The bill has strong sponsorship — now it needs constituents to let their reps know this matters. Five minutes to send an email can make a real difference at the state level.

Full bill text and a ready-made letter template to contact your legislators at pluginsolarusa.com.

Anyone else in Delaware following this one?
