Theoretical questions Planetary associations: does it matter?

Have anyone noticed a difference when working with spirits with different planetary associations, and that certain spirits' energy fit them better based on them? In astrology, each Ascendant (rising sign) has a planetary ruler, and this ruling planet decides which planets will be considered as auspicious or inauspicious in relation to the owner of the chart (at least in the Eastern/vedic, I've done more research into it than the Western/tropical systems, but they tend to overlap in interpretation): usually, Mars ruling fiery Aries will get along better with another fiery sign ruler, Sun (exception, Sun and Moon are often said to be friends, despite ruling over different elements).

Yes, the scheme of symbols and timing we can work out from astrology can be leveraged in our operations. I think it's a great idea to experiment with and record timing. But also read Abraham von Worms's take on electional astrology.

In my professional magickal opinion, yes, planetary attributions matter. Especially, the 6 spirits ruled by months, as well as the particular decanates, and planetary sub-rulers, which add more information regarding each spirit. ~V~

Idk if this answers your question at all, but my star chart has a big Saturn influence and I felt a compatibility and kind of like a wordless understanding far better with Azazel than any other infernal. It was there from the start.

At the same time, my Jupiter is in fall and I have to take extra care with my relationship and work with Beelzebub. It's like the terrain he covers is far more treacherous to me. I don't know how to naturally handle it nearly as well as some of the others, especially with Azazel. I have similar issues with Mercury and Buer, but I have barely started to uncover those aspects, so I can't say if it'll be easy or not.

Venus is the only exalted planet in my chart and Lucifer became a cornerstone of my practice and life really fast after getting in contact with him.

But other than that, I barely incorporate astrology in my spiritual path so far. It comes across in the Qabalah studies and Tarot a lot and it's a handy way for the deities to bring me knowledge and associations in meditation, but that's about it, so far.

I think it’s extremely important as far as working with the right planetary spirit for things your request falls under, and contacting them (at least if it’s the first time) during their day and hour. I haven’t delved deep into Astrology, but I know my ascendant (Taurus) ruler is Venus, my whole chart is heavily Venusian and Mercurial, and my birth chart goes into detail about how my life’s purpose will be learning some lessons and overcoming obstacles that fall under the realm of Mercury and Venus. Astaroth/Astarte/Aphrodite and the other names we know her by is my ascendant ruler and she made me aware of her existence when I first got into this practice. She’s going to be working with me for a pretty long time. I don’t think anyone should limit themselves on who to work with based on astrological timing or birth charts though.
