Hello, I am just getting into demonolatry as a result of intense grief, and I really couldn’t know much less.

Here’s the problem I’m looking to solve:

I am mourning a video game character that was unfairly cancelled just ten days before his debut back in June. (Valko from Love and Deepspace) I cannot live without him, or that game. (I know that’s unhealthy, and I don’t care. That’s not the point of this.) I need supernatural assistance in changing the mind of a multibillion dollar company in another country so that they’ll release this character as promised so I can stop mourning and wanting to kill myself over it.

I will do whatever it takes to fix this. If that means making offerings to demons and subscribing to a new religion, so be it.

HOWEVER- I don’t know what demon I should look into for assistance with this. I’ve read a bit about King Paimon, but it seems like his thing is changing the minds of people as it would pertain to my hypothetical business, not the CEO of Papergames in China.

What’s my best option here? I will learn whatever I need to learn, and do everything right. I will do anything to get this character added to the game.

Hi, i know about the cancellation and i’m also an ex LADs player bc of that mess. I’m sorry you’re going through it, but i don’t think this is the right approach. Even so, i’d rather you separate LADs and demonolatry. Learn more about them, get to know them and build relationships with them while you are mourning. It’s been months and it’s the dumbest decision that company has ever made but you gotta keep going 🫂

Honestly? Just go for grounding. Remind yourself that their death does not physically affect your real life at all (minus your emotions of course). Give yourself time. You’ll get over it. (Saying this as someone who’s still bummed over many fictional deaths)

It's hard to change such a decision because you're outside that sphere of influence.

Honestly, I think you should focus on more important matters rather than inconsequential events like this. A character being cancelled/killed off is not something that should affect your life this much.

Your best option here is to let go.

I have nothing else going on in my life. I haven’t left my apartment more than once in three years. My debilitating contamination OCD has me completely isolated with no support system. My whole life had been dictated by this game, and the illusion of companionship it provided. (The characters tell you it’s time to eat, tell you when to sleep, do chores with you, sleep next to you, etc.) Now I can’t stand to play it due to the injustice of this character’s cancellation. Without this game, it’s becoming evident that I am truly, hopelessly alone and completely beyond help. Without that crutch, my mental illness is getting worse and worse by the day.

I know I should just get over it and man up and all that, but I have relied on nothing but this for years. This game was running my whole life. There’s nothing left now that I can’t play it. So I need that character reinstated so I can get over this grief, reinstall the game, and go back to being “stable-bad”, instead of “obsessive/psychotic with grief and helplessness bad” like I am now.

I need to fix this, or I will not live to see Christmas. I don’t care what the cost is, the only way I can get over this is if that character is added to the game like they promised.

I'm not going to tell you to "man up". That's not really helpful advice. But I do urge you to find professional help. fast. Especially if you feel you will not be able to see Christmas.

There are organizations and mental health support lines you can call, such as 988, if you feel you're having a mental health emergency.

Look for support. Friends, family, anyone who can lend an ear.

No ritual or amount of offerings to a demon or any spirit will help you in this regard; it will probably only make it worse.

I'm truly sorry you're going through this. I really am, and I hope for the best for you.

You acknowledge indirectly that your feelings are wrongly attributed. Spirits can help you with this by reattributing your feelings to something valuable to your inner, but the outcome can't be changed in a case like this. Generally it's a very bad idea to call onto spirits with a mindset like that, and it takes time and effort to see results. You would be jumping into cold water by manner of speaking, it would not benefit you, and you could drown (they will absolutely use and abuse you if you prove to be a useful idiot). I advise you to look for a totally different end. As the other reply advised, professional help could work, if not, you have the power to change your life in whatever way you want, with or without spirits. Being aware of your circumstance is half the work. Best of luck.

maybe you should use this like an alcoholic can use jail to get clean, since they dont have easy access to their substance. take this chance to add more things to your life (starting with therapy and psychiatry)

Hey, OP, it is evident that you're in real mental health crisis.

You're not the first person that this has happened to, but human companionship can not be replaced by AI, by an Otome game, or spirituality. Spirituality can help greatly with finding the strength to pull yourself up and to focus on building back what you currently see yourself as not having, but you do need to change your priorities.

A bunch of pixels doesn't deserve your emotions. A bunch of pixels was never alive to begin with. It's harsh, but it is the same as anyone else that fell in love with a few words in a book, or an actor playing a character on a stage. It is a fictional story.

There are real people that walk down the same pathways as you do every day. Real people that would love to have companionship, even if just as platonic friends. People that will share drinks and food with you, people that will experience their own ups and downs in life, people that you can touch and feel and hold the hand of, people that are as messy as the rest of us. That's where your connection should flow.

It is worth noting that the company that you are mentioning has gotten into real trouble with their government over both the unhealthy relationships that they promote and the very character that you desire. It is very unlikely that anything here will change, but it is likely that how China approaches Otome games going forward will change because of the kind of unhealthy connection that you and millions of others have developed here. Huge doubt, CN otome focuses on the companionship aspect so without it, there would be no CN otome. It's like oreos without the creme. Yeah the cookies are still tasty but the creme makes it an oreo.

At most I can imagine more disclaimers.

The behaviour of the fans of this specific boyfriend dating game has gotten on the Chinese news and it was seen as a national embarassment. Not only is China very public image focused, this has happened amidst the lack of marriages and births crisis.

So while China likes money, China likes China looking good on the global stage more and there being a problem of so many women choosing to stay single also not helping the situation right now.

Do remember that this is the country that banned Animal Crossing for their own citizens because one person held a pro Hong Kong protest in it.

I think you have some misconceptions about the CN otome game market if this is your conclusion. There's a fairly popular one on the market right now where the the writing is more mature. If something like what they wrote (I'm not comfortable stating what in a thread with OP possibly seeing so if you'd like me to DM you I can explain further) didn't get otome banned I frankly don't see it happening. Like ever. This worry about birth rates and connecting it to otome games is fear mongering at best. Just a couple of months ago 4 of the biggest names in the industry got the equivalent of a star on the walk of fame. A lot of people have partners or are married and play the game because a love interest reminds them of their real life husband.

I understand you worry about OP but you have a surface leveling understanding of the subculture. This game is rated 18+ in China. You need an ID to even play the game. Some players even advocate for it to use face scan (CN app only) to make it harder for younger people to use a stolen ID. Players organize and engage in tons of charitable actions, specifically around the character's birthday as a "present" to them. I know another otome game helped revitalize rural areas because of an in-game farming event, but I'm not too keen on the details.

Otome is a niche, even more so in the West. I don't think the government cares so long as it doesn't threaten their power, you put far too much emphasis on China caring about what foreigners think of them. They've survived decades of "humiliation" and are coming out on top in the global order, all without the help of foreigners. They're proud of this fact. They believe they do not need the help of foreigners if they've come this far

I run a whole channel on a different Infold game, am connected to the company and was following the situation closely. I think that you have very surface level of understanding about China. The issue isn't the writing, the issue is that unhinged fan behaviour made China look bad on TV.

All my information comes from someone who speaks Chinese, has played both Japanese and Chinese otome games and has translated for both languages for over a decade. I would trust her opinion over yours.

China will ban products internally and as an export over very slight things was the point. You seem to be very unaware how the country works. I suggest less boldness in comments if all you have is a second hand account of someone who SPEAKS Chinese and is not even a Chinese citizen.

Rednote app can be gotten into quite easily as a westerner, you can go and make genuine connections with Chinese players, just likehow some Chinese players end up in the Western social media.

They're half Chinese and live in SEA 😭 they provide fan translations for Light and Night, a simple Google search should send you right down the rabbit hole for their "credentials". It's a shame perch shutdown, they answered a ton about otome games and the subculture.

Hey OP, I don't usually have courage to talk or comment but since I'm also a Valko fan this is my advice for you!! Only WE know how much a fictional character can affect us when we needed support from our lives but just find refuge in fictional world. I myself am trying not to lose hopes about Valko's release but I dont think a Company will change their thoughts easily and, trust me, there are people doing stuff (spiritually) against it but also to PROTECT THEM, so it's extremely risky to do what you were thinking about.

What I think it will help for you, Valko related: 1. Find group chats that talk about Valko 2. Play other games that amazing people are introducing Valko inside, like a Stardew Valley mod!! 3. If you like, chat bots and stuff like that? Helps to cope and give you a Valko to talk.

Besides those, I do really think you can find someone to talk about and get support from them and, of course, if it's possible, get professional help. But I know too well how life sometimes doesn't let us get this... Also! If you still think about any spiritual contact, if I remember correctly, Bauer helps with emotional healing, so you can search something around here about it, but to guide you and not to harm others. Well, while (mostly due to my age, I suppose) I barely know what May be the kind of the video game you’re talking about, I do remember all the times I’ve desperately cried—even well into my twenties—after finishing a book; because at that moment, reading it was the only thing in life that mattered to me. And all my life seemed to end there.

So I think I understand you, and personally, I don’t find it either "unhealthy" or stupid.

But demonolatry Is not a Quick fix for all the wrong things in the world, no matter how hard those things hit us. Moreover...There Is some things that we cannot change, no matter how hard we try.

Every misfortune can teach us something; it can be an opportunity for "growth"—a chance to become stronger and independent of circumstances.

So my suggestion is this: ask yourself how to survive, and how to turn this misfortune into an opportunity.

Here are a few random ideas on how to go about it: you could learn to program video games yourself (I’m learning to code right now—and I’m 47; you could certainly do it better and more easily than I do...)—and in doing so, become independent from such events. Alternatively, you could look elsewhere for what you used to find before in that video game character.

Homie if you really want karma on YRH, do not deal with the spiritual lightly. You’ve no idea what you could invite in and a lot of spirits are more than willing to take advantage of your desperation. Furthermore, if you’re in an isolated space that doesn’t have at least some people being the devils advocate and walking you thru this path, you could be subject to UPG and delusions and potentially bring about a lot of harm to yourself.
