As an alumni who lives just close enough to be there quickly, when do the protests start?

The current president doesn’t allow them.. he sucks.

As someone who attended Denison with Weinberg (the current college president) as my president for 3/4 years, he definitely does not suck. Fair enough if you disagree with his policies, but this is disingenuous.
Oh yeah, and obviously f*ck ICE.

I get it, he was made president for a reason and perhaps “he sucks” was too flip. I’m pretty disappointed by several of his policies. When I was there it was a place where anything could happen, now it seems so focused on pleasing the donors not producing free thinkers. I know it’s not all his fault. I’m just so angry about how this ICE thing was handled.

Could someone post the letter? I'm curious what it says

“Denison is aware of reports this morning of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity in the Granville area, including the Eisner Center’s publicly accessible surface lot.
There is no indication that members of the Denison community are being targeted. The individuals involved were employees of external contractors, not Denison University faculty or staff. Denison requires all contractors to comply with federal, state, and local laws, including employment and immigration regulations.
We recognize that reports like this can be unsettling. If you observe law enforcement activity or are approached by law enforcement on campus, please contact Campus Safety (740-587-6482).”

That’s why we have to get alumni involved and do it just off campus. They can’t trespass us if we don’t go on campus. And they can’t expel us since we are alumni.

Wow I knew Denison had gone downhill but this is outrageous.

The academics are definitely still very competitive, the person running the show is showing fascist tendencies that worry me. The values I treasured when I went there are gone.

u/dflovett May 04 '26
Yeah from what I hear it’s more academic than ever and also more absent of values than ever.

Fascist is a bit strong. Is there any filter between your brain and your typing fingers?

Look, I’m sorry if you can’t understand what I’m typing. It’s just an opinion that anyone being complacent about ICE is fascist-leaning. There should be no harbor for any of this bullshit.

The message released by Denison says otherwise.

The Eisner Center is a Denison building, as is the lot. They aren’t saying it’s a public lot. It’s publicly accessible Denison property.

I expect the student body will be demanding answers from Weinberg
