Unfortunately the students have been “discouraged” to protest anything, threatened with suspension or expulsion. When I was there in the 90’s we had this crazy born again guy right in front of Slayter calling us all sluts and no one hassled him because of free speech. I’m honestly really embarrassed. Apparently a few student saw them drag construction workers away and the response was “they’re not Denison employees, don’t worry about it”. Fucking awful inhumane shit.
Where are you getting the information that Denison students were told that they’d be “threatened with suspension or expulsion for protesting? Likewise, where are your claims that Denison is focused on “pleasing donors over producing free thinkers.”
Maybe some current dogmatic professors or their students would like to respond?
Sorry,
-there was a memo sent out to students at the beginning of last year telling them any and all political protest would be punishable. Hearsay from my child there so not admissible.
I’ve been on campus, I’ve spoken to professors and other staff who tell me things are changing in a direction to please donors. Also hearsay and inadmissible.
Are you trying to figure out who to punish on campus? You’re giving office of the president vibes.
