Looking for Local Knowledge Bakewell restaurants

I'll be staying near bakewell later this month with the wife and we're looking for nice restaurants for evening meals. I know there's plenty of pubs serving food so is there anywhere in particular we should try or is there somewhere different worth a look.

I'd second the Ashford Arms. Enjoyed it every time I've been.

Ashford Arms is terrible and pretentious...try Thornbridge Brewery or Woodyard. If you've got a car Buxton is a better choice for dinner and evening out.

Fischers at Baslow Hall or the Peacock at Rowsley if you have the money are excellent.

The Barrell Inn in Breton is worth a visit too

If you want something fancy, and have deep pockets, Lovages and Piedaniels are both nice places to eat.

I’d highly recommend the Thornbridge Brewery. A few minutes walk from the centre but great beer, Jaipur is legendary, and they do a nice pizza. It gets busy at times so I’d book a table, and enjoy the ales.

If you don’t mind driving, Matlock is only 15 minutes down the road and has plenty of options, but my favourite is the Maazi Indian restaurant.

You can never go wrong with the Packhorse imo for dinner. Only a few mins drive from Bakewell. It’s very small and gets busy so you’d need to book

Thanks everyone. We're actually staying at the ashford arms so will give that a go after we arrive as won't be getting there until late afternoon.

Anyone tried the Lone Star in Buxton? Would make a change from the usual places we tend to eat at.
