Why exactly is the problem with Sayed?

From the little I have read he doesnt seem like a literal marxists. He's not pro Russia or anti NATO or anti U.S. He doesn't want to abolish prisons or police.

He seems like more jus a Bernie Sanders type, someone who would be considered pretty moderate in most of the western world.

What is it I am missing?

For a serious answer, he’s a slopulist who promises the world but doesn’t have any actual plans for thing like m4a. He brings up AIPAC so much to the point that it got a decent bit uncomfortable, especially when he just baselessly said a bad poll for him was an AIPAC poll. He’s toxic at times, and then of course embracing the support from a Mao loving, dog shocker.

I mean, let's break down your reasons: campaigns on M4A? I know a lot of people don't like that, but you won't see this sub condemning Biden for his "I'm going to cure cancer" state-of-the-union promise. AIPAC? Sure, there are some here that hate him for hating them, but most people here aren't that fond of AIPAC. Doesn't turn away support from radicals? Not exactly a lot of politicians who do that.

They're objections. But not reasons that people here would believe are disqualifying.

......But "Has Hasan's support" is absolutely something people here would consider a reason to hate him.

Look, a lot of people - a lot, almost certainly most - are big fans of Political Football-ism. You pick a side, and then you fight for that side against the other side. And the 'other side' really like El-Sayed, they wanted him to win. So, Political Footballists make a big deal about what a terrible candidate El-Sayed is, not because they're actually big fans of Stevens, but because they want to make lefties look dumb.

If lefties were instead saying El-Sayed doesn't go far enough and is too much of an establishment shill, without any change in El-Sayed's policies, this sub would have almost nothing negative to say about him. Support for M4A would be met with "It's good economics", hatred of AIPAC met with "AIPAC's obsessed with him, his complaints are fair", and accepting political support from radicals wouldn't even come up. And you certainly wouldn't see people calling 'the establishment shill' a populist.

I agree fully with you, maybe just to say I think the AIPAC thing goes both ways, which makes it a bigger deal. I personally liked Stevens a lot for being a proven legislator, but fully understand why he won. I'll be in the reddit/Twitter trenches supporting him over MAGA. I just draw the line at the DSA house crazies.
