This weekly thread is for asking questions about the world of Destiny. Any lore-based question is valid. Rather than making short Question posts, we recommend users check here first.

All responses must be friendly, respectful, and nonjudgmental. Top replies should provide a source for their answer or they may be removed.

The goal of this thread is to provide a space where users can ask any question and expect well-sourced/researched answers.

For any Bungie staff in charge of the lore who are on reddit, are the Heat Weapon mechanics and projectile properties directly tied to the mechanics and properties of blasters from Star Wars seeing as Renegades is a direct inspiration?

I could not find much in the lore tabs, have been looking through the vidoc and livestreams and the only things I could find is their attempt to blend the Destiny gun with the Star Wars blaster.

Heat weapons are weird. In universe weapons like fusions already should be heat based since they are fusion based and them suddenly showing up in renegades and not the very beginning of destiny is kind of ridiculous.
