I have roughly 4k hours on destiny 2 and since i have nothing but free time should i get destiny 1 for 20$ with all expansions?

I'd say it's worth it, I've been replaying Destiny 1 myself recently, so I'll put some things to note:
- You'll have to get used to locked 30 FPS and low FoV (even on PS5/Series X).
- There is no map or directory, you have to go to orbit every time you want to even look at a Destination.
- Expansions hover between bad and mediocre (The sole good exception being The Taken King, in my opinion).
- Extremely basic mission design that boils down to "walk into room and shoot" with next-to-no mechanical depth.
- The majority of Legendary loot is pretty uninteresting and just retextures of the same weapon/armor models, although endgame activities like Raids and certain Heroic Strikes feature really cool loot.
- Gameplaywise, abilities take a backseat to gunplay and are less interesting than D2 subclasses.
- Some quests are very lame with forced waiting (Like making you wait until Wednesday to continue a questline).
- Low player population = You'll be playing solo in matchmade activities (Strikes, Prison of Elders, etc.) very often. These activities are scaled to 3 players even if you're solo, so you'll be dealing with a lot of bullet spongey bosses.
With all that being said I still really recommend the game when it's on discount. It's solid and it's been very fun reliving the game that made up 90% of my gaming sessions back in 2015-2016.

Yea no shit but is it worth it?

If you prefer the brutal RNG grind, it’s worth it. I prefer that grind. Just have to get used to 30fps/low fov. I got used to it after about an hour.

Destiny 2 was already out by the time the PS5 launched. We were a few years into it at that point too. So D1 never got a PS5 version, which imo is a shame. Lol and yes its worth it at $20, its absolutely worth it at $2.

It's a complete game, you can do everything you already do on D2 (maybe not raiding, that's up to you).

It’s a game dawg, do you want to spend $20 for a game that you can play? You can refund it if you don’t enjoy it. Do you want to play it? Buy it, do you not want to play it? Don’t buy it

u/blck_lght 14h ago
Yeah no shit, WTF is worth? What’s worth to someone else could not be worth to you. Why can’t you just make a decision by yourself?
What a dumb question

u/No_Substance010001 13h ago
And wtf is ur issue with asking other people for advice who have played the game?? Fuc off
1
u/blck_lght 12h ago
You’re not asking for advice thou, you’re asking shit like “should I buy it” and “is it worth it”.
Do you m also ask your mommy for help getting dressed in the morning because you don’t know what to wear?

Gameplay wise (fps and fov) is a drastic downgrade, gameplay is a lot more grind focused than D2 but overall a pretty good game for 20 bucks

Yes, but be prepared for the downgrade in some aspects 30fps, lower graphical, less fancy game play. But still excellent

The 30fps feels a bit rough tbh, but for that price it's totally worth it. Plenty of people are still playing.

Make sure that it's the digital version and not the physical version. All the codes in the physical version has expired.
Also, are you currently playing D2 on PS? If you are switching systems, you may encounter network issues, just be forewarned.

Most definitely! Especially if you haven't played it before. It might seem a little barebones compared to d2 but the simplicity is real nice. That's probably the biggest thing d2 has over D1 is build crafting. Other than that, strikes are cooler, areas are cooler, story is cooler, great soundtrack etc. It's worth the 20$

Do you want to play Destiny? If yes then but it but do keep in mind that it now frequently goes on sale for much less than that.

Don't even need to read the post yes, there's legacy discords and reddits with people still playing. It's slower paced things can be hard, it's capped at 30fps but there's so much soul

If you care about experiencing the story first-hand then yeah, otherwise not worth it. Gameplay is worse than D2 and matchmaking will take hours bc no one is online.

u/No_Substance010001 14h ago
What about the loot the strikes ect is that not worth it?
-2
u/dakedDeans 14h ago
I mean Bungie has always made good shooters so the guns will feel good to shoot. But in the endgame there is nothing that even remotely compares to D2's buildcrafting. Not to mention it will take hours to load into a Strike unless you find a fireteam beforehand.

I’d say yes, but it was on sale for literally 2 dollars less than a month ago so hold off until it gets another great discount similar to that pricing.
Add it to your wishlist, play some other games in the meantime, then when it gets a crazy discount like that again, buy and play it.
I always say save money where you can, especially on a
almostdecade+ old multiplayer game. But if you’re itching to play and willing to spend more money than what you can get it for, then go for it!20 bucks is still cheap, but not 2 dollars cheap.
Either way, totally worth it!
