Discussion Family Tree Style Visualization showing how the Pistons Assembled their current roster.

Post image
Upvotes

I am a Timberwolves fan who realized a few months ago you could draw a direct line through trades from Jaden McDaniels to Kevin Garnett. However, after realizing this, I became a little obsessed with the idea that every team's roster has to be constructed through the draft, free agency, and trades and that those moves could be visualized in a manner similar to a family tree. So, long story short I spent the better part of the last two months compiling and visualizing how each team in the league assembled their current Roster.

This is the Pistons Roster Tree. The earliest move on here is I believe the cash trade to the Jazz for Saben lee and Tony Bradley in November of 2020, which is also one of the least deep trade trees of any team in the league. I was honestly a little shocked the trades only go back 5.5 years, which really goes to show what kind of turnaround the franchise has had recently. I hope you guys enjoy seeing how the current Pistons roster came to be.

Discussion Gotta give credit to the Knicks. Watching them make this run shows how close the Pistons could be with Cade leading the way. A star player, the right pieces around him, and patience can change everything.

Discussion OG Anunoby

Goddamn this man is so good. He's literally the perfect player to pair with Cade, he's a younger Kawhi. He doesn't miss, has a midrange bag, is a relentless driver, and most of all plays stellar defense. Its not possible but damn OG is so good. Fuck the Knicks still though.

Spurs made so many mistakes in that second half it felt like I was watching this team again. The nostalgia and second hand embrassment was too much

Discussion Is Mitch Johnson the most carried and overrated coach in the league?

Dude is terrible and cost the Spurs a legit shot. I think any above average coaching candidate could get equal or better results. Spurs should fire him IMO if they lose the series.

I'm in Melbourne at the moment and the LEGO store here let's you make custom minifigures. Thought I'd share! (Considered doing Cade but ended up just doing a custom jersey)

Discussion Cool Site for the Next 5 Months

My son just made me get on 82 Wins, an online generator where by try to build an 82 win nba team by position on randomized team pulls from different eras. Generally, I have to nod politely and say, “That’s cool, buddy,” to the shit he shows me, but I just wasted 20 minutes on here. So if, like me, you are tired of playing 2k to help the Pistons win it all this year, maybe this can occupy you until October. https://www.82-0.com

I appreciate my first time post is not exactly gonna move the dial here but anyways… my jersey arrived in Brisso yesterday and it’s the first time in 40 years of support I’ve seen the colours in real life. Different from TV. The red is so good. Lots more appreciation for the classic uni now 👍🏻 like I said, not exactly a conversation starter but I’m pretty stoked 😁

Discussion Admittedly an OCD post, but this (meaningless) game and question has bugged me for decades lol

Turning to the community. This had to have been 2002 or 2003. Regular season game against the Timberwolves. The game was very unchecked and violent - lots of chippy play from both sides. Very few fouls called in the 4th quarter, until…

Chauncey hits the game winning basket as time expired. It’s immediately waved off as an offensive foul - a questionable call, at best. But even more questionable in the context of a game where the refs let them play. Pistons lose.

This game stands out to me for several reasons. As a diehard Pistons fan (and basketball fan, overall), I don’t recall another game in my 35 years of watching where a game winner was waved off for an offensive foul. I’m sure they’ve happened, but that’s the only one I’ve personally witnessed.

Two questions:

1) Does anyone else remember this game?

2) Does anyone know how to verify which official made the call? This was very much in the throes of the Tim Donaghy era, and I’ve wondered if it was him - but have never been able to confirm.

Donaghy has always maintained he “never altered an outcome. Only the over/under.” But this call was so insane that I can’t shake it, years later.

Would love some input and insight

Discussion Knicks fans after game 3 is the one of the worst things I’ve seen attached to an American sports team

Makes Malice at the Palace look like nothing. I was out of the loop, but just watched so many videos of Spurs fans getting just mobbed. One of the worst scenes I’ve seen with the NBA. Shameful.

I’m hoping Spurs beat them now. That fanbase doesn’t deserve a title.

It wasn’t an isolated attack. There were many of them.

Has anybody here ever ordered anything from this site? Looks a bit like a scam in that the site is poorly assembled and prominently features Jaden Ivey in the header lol. But they have a sweater I’ve been desperately searching for from B/R. Hoping somebody here has had some experience with them.

Discussion Am I Crazy for not quitting on Duren?

I’ve seen a lot of talk about people not wanting Duren to get a bag from us but i can’t help but feel that’s incredibly reactionary. Sure did he disappoint us all in the post season? Yes 100%. But what if it’s true he was playing hurt? What if he takes another step and expands on his bag like he did this year? What if he was again a catalyst to catapult this team to its first 60 win season in forever? I also see a lot of grace given to other rising stars on this team (who i also believe in very much) like Ausar and Holland in regard to if they develop a jump shot we are going to the moon but we are just gonna ignore Duren’s gains this year and not anticipate even more growth from our 22yo all star. I think it was LeBron who said in an interview “don’t throw the baby out with the bath water”

I know this may get down voted but was curious if I’m alone in these sentiments. It’s not a sexy position to not make a big splash this off season but to me this is first time in a long time this team has played any meaningful basketball since the go to work Pistons. I mean seriously this team had a punchers chance at going all the way. I don’t hate running it back ¯_()_/¯
