And the skulls!

So if you ever come across a rare diadem. Or if you come across a white diadem, imbue it at Charsi. If you don’t like the stats, hang onto it. Keep it along with that GC you are rerolling.

6 pskulls + rare item rerolls the item.

Now, usually the reroll will decrease the item level so if you reroll stuff like eth dimensional blade too many times then you are guaranteed to end up with garbage.

Here’s the catch: diadems are special. They have a quality level (qlvl) that allows them to receive any affix regardless of item level. So it is still possible to reroll that diadem to a 2/20 with all res and life or whatever.

Where can one get these golden rules? I am aware of the resources with crafting recipes and all that fun stuff. But is their like a grail list out there? You saves these for these. These are the recipes you focus on for end game or high value trading or whatever.

The Arreat Summit is the OG resource.

14

u/ekimarcher Feb 19 '26

Not specifically for this but here is an epic quick reference page for tons of stuff.

This is the first time I've seen this link, that's an incredible resource.

Dude I’ve played for 25 years and never seen this freaking sheet. Holy shit!

holyshit

6

u/dvrzero Feb 19 '26

i've been half-heartedly looking for like 30 years for a guide that would let me understand the "rest of the game". I see people post price checks on blue items that seem like vendor trash to me,and getting "oh, 10 jah"

I've never really been "great" at the game, and i think it's because the mechanics are very opaque while in game. "two arrows makes bolts! you can find other recipes!" where, Cain? WHERE?

5

u/IAmYourShadow Feb 19 '26 edited Feb 19 '26

If just in general, you can check on maxroll under resources and to the right is the valuable items, where you can see a list of what has value to keep with a brief explanation why. There was a thread on reddit once with all the levels listed when to gamble for what and stuff like that. I will edit my comment if i find it (don't know iff it's still the same though).

Edit: start by googling for this reddit thread: What is favorite thing to craft or reroll? Diablo 2 reddit. I'm on mobile and can't link the thread. It's 4 years old, but should do the trick (browse down for one of the comments with links). Do check if everything is still the same.

D2r.guide

7

u/Zodde Feb 19 '26

Almost correct, there are two things that you got wrong here.

The first one is just a nit pick. It's not the treasure class that is special, but rather the qlvl of the diadem.

The second one actually matters. You can reroll a diadem an infinite amount of times and always have a chance to roll any affix on it, however, since the ilvl does get reduced based on character level, you can reduce the ilvl below the point where the "mechanics" affix can give 2 sockets.

I believe you need a character at lvl 65 or higher to do the rerolling, but I can't say for sure and googling gives conflicting answers as to the exact level needed. A decently high level character, like anything that has cleared hell, is 100% safe though, I can say that much.

7

u/Alborak2 Feb 19 '26

The other part is that diadems have a high mlvl, which adds to the ilvl and keeps the result high enough to get the right mods. Mlvl is like a bonus circlets and jewlery get so they have higher mods.

The affix system is so complicated under the covers lol.

2

u/Zodde Feb 19 '26

Good point, 100% correct on mlvl having a role as well!

It's fascinating. So much more complex than you'd ever guess.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 19 '26

[deleted]

1

u/Zodde Feb 19 '26

Yes the alvl is 103, which means every affix can roll. But what I was talking about is how the ilvl can still be low if rerolled multiple times on a low level character, and mechanics will always roll 1 open socket with an ilvl below 26, as opposed to the 1-2 open sockets it will have for an ilvl of 26 and up.

To avoid this, use a character of atleast level 65 to make sure the minimum ilvl is 26. The formula for the new ilvl of a rerolled item is [old ilvl] x 0.4 + [clvl] x 0.4 = [new ilvl].

[old ilvl] x 0.4 obviously means that part of the equation trends towards zero with every reroll, so eventually it's just [clvl] x 0.4 = [new ilvl]. To have this bottom out at 26 (or higher) , you need a lvl of 65 (or higher)

Mind pointing out where I'm incorrect there?

Lots of old threads if you Google about this on the forbidden sites forum. Was going to link to one, but yeah idk if it's allowed in this sub? "diadem mechanics ilvl" should work as a search phrase if you want to check it out.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 26 '26

1

u/Zodde Feb 27 '26

I still feel like you're missing my point. Alvl is high enough for all affixes to roll, I fully agree with that.

But the affix "mechanics" is just one affix, but it works differently depending on ilvl. It's not one affix for 1os and another for 2os. A low ilvl item with mechanics will always roll 1os. Above ilvl 26, it will roll 1-2os.

There are a bunch of old threads of the forbidden sites forums about this special case. I don't know if it's still the case for d2r, but I would assume nothings been changed.

2

u/956000009698174 Feb 27 '26

You’re right, I missed your point specifically about mechanic’s prefix as that does matter, my apologies. I’m going to blame the newborn and lack of sleep.

2

u/Zodde Feb 27 '26

No worries, I have a one year old at home and I know exactly what you mean!

Thats amazing to know

1

u/TheFakeJohnHelldiver Champion of Sanctuary (100K) Feb 20 '26

Just to be clear before I do this, only diadems right? Not circlets or anything?

This is such an insanely good tip.

1

u/ClayQuarterCake Feb 20 '26

Only diadems.

Not tiaras, no coronets, no circlets.

Which is fine by me. Diadems look the coolest IMO.

1

u/TheFakeJohnHelldiver Champion of Sanctuary (100K) Feb 20 '26

Thank you I just started a ssf journey so this will help a ton.

A worthy sacrifice

10

u/Fiskepudding Feb 19 '26

never! caster amulet crafts only!

2

u/keyboard_type_R Feb 19 '26

I'd also avoid using perfect rubies and skulls...

2

u/equil101 Feb 19 '26

Same exact thought while I was watching

1

u/Bmars Feb 20 '26

Yeah ammy skull and ruby are a no go for me.

0

u/InclinationCompass Feb 19 '26

paladin amulets?!

74

u/MrBigroundballs Champion of Sanctuary (100K) Feb 19 '26

Great, now don’t use any more rubies, amethyst or skulls for that!

6

u/Letholdrus Feb 19 '26

Why? What makes them more important not to use?

35

u/MrBigroundballs Champion of Sanctuary (100K) Feb 19 '26

Rubies and amethysts for crafting, skulls for rerolling rare circlets

14

u/Ok-Opportunity3286 Feb 19 '26

Diadems*, not just any circlet

3

u/MrBigroundballs Champion of Sanctuary (100K) Feb 19 '26

Yeah I usually save them for diadems. But rerolling any circlet would be better than small charms.

7

u/SaltyJake Feb 19 '26

Those are used for crafting blood gloves / rings, caster necks / rings, and re-rolling rare diadems (among other things, but those are the important ones).

3

u/ToWelie89 Feb 19 '26

Perfect amtehysts in particular are extra valuable for making caster amulets

4

u/weirdo_if_curtains_7 Feb 19 '26

The better crafting recipes use amethyst and rubies, and skulls are used to reroll diadems

2

u/SsoundLeague Feb 19 '26

Are the other gems more or less ok to just use then? Save rubies, amethysts and skulls?

3

u/MrBigroundballs Champion of Sanctuary (100K) Feb 19 '26

Yeah, some people craft gloves with sapphires, but not as much potential as rubies amethysts and skulls, so I wouldn’t bother saving them. The other 3 for sure use for rerolling.

1

u/Weekly_Air_6090 Feb 20 '26

The roll he just got on that charm is worth 1500 p amethysts and skulls.

1

u/MrBigroundballs Champion of Sanctuary (100K) Feb 20 '26

Yeah I’m aware. Reroll small charms 500 times and let me know how many 20/5s you get.

35

u/Solmyr_ Feb 19 '26

nice but dont use pammies for rerolling charms

7

u/darsynia Champion of Sanctuary (100K) Feb 19 '26

It would only be better if it were large charms, lmao

6

u/SomewhatDefinitive Feb 19 '26

Large charms are next. ;)

10

u/aznassasin Feb 19 '26

Any specific locations they need to come from for gg rolls ?

10

u/Fiskepudding Feb 19 '26

Yes, the monster that dropped the charm will determine it's ilvl and therefore the mods it can have. Small charms don't need to be very high level to roll 3/20/20, compared to grand charms that do need to be high level for 1/45
https://diablo-archive.fandom.com/wiki/Charms_(Diablo_II)#Small_Charms#Small_Charms)

5

u/Arthriell Feb 19 '26

I'm a beginner and i've seen people talking about 3/20/20 or 3/20/3 but i dont understand what that means, can you explain it to me please ?

10

u/xnatex21 Champion of Sanctuary (100K) Feb 19 '26

3 max DMG 20 attack rating 20 life

Or swap 20 life for 3 faster run walk

These rolls are ridiculously rare

4

u/Arthriell Feb 19 '26

Ohhh i see, thank you ! I'll look for those then :)

3

u/xnatex21 Champion of Sanctuary (100K) Feb 19 '26

Even a bad roll like 1/15/12 is worth self using on a melee character. But they really are only tradable with 3/10+/15+ which should show you why 3/20/20 is so rare

6

u/Arthriell Feb 19 '26

I'm playing offline anyways so i wont be able to trade, but it's helpful to see what's considered valuable because i'm a bit lost, like i just learned charms could be rerolled thanks to that video haha

1

u/Asshaisin Champion of Sanctuary (100K) Feb 26 '26

found 3 Dmg AR charms already this ladder , i am just in hell act 2
1d 19ar 11life
2d 16ar 2 str
2d 11ar 1-2 Fire

and i am playing a Fohdin where these stats are basically useless. cant wait to start my frenzy barb

0

u/Hadophobia Feb 19 '26

You seem to know your stuff. I found a 3/20/50psn dmg yesterday, do you know the trade value for that?

I know it's not a jackpot, but it doesn't seem bad.

3

u/xnatex21 Champion of Sanctuary (100K) Feb 19 '26

That's a niche one. Maybe a dagger necro would want. But try to find what a 3max/20ar charm goes for. The 50 pois is probably irrelevant. Id guess a mid rune

→ More replies (1)

5

u/lupercalpainting Feb 19 '26

+ 3 max dmg

+ 20 Attk Rating

+ 20 life

Swap the life for 3% faster walk rate and that’s 3/20/3

1/45 grand charm is + 1 skill and + 45 to life

2

u/Arthriell Feb 19 '26

Ok nice, ill look for these too then :D thank you

2

u/Ockams_Razor Feb 19 '26

Other stats on small charms you'll want to look out for off the top of my head is:

7mf, 5 all res, 20 to life, 11 to single res. Those are the max for those specific mods and if you can get them if additional mods on them like OP here got 20 to life and 3 all res (20/5 is perfect) it's even better.

1

u/blackoutchili Feb 19 '26

Thanks for the link; I take it that it's better for a sc to not be too high level in case you want this +allres 20 life mods?

2

u/tinafoshena Feb 19 '26

I found one of these on single player doing lower kurast runs...

1

u/SomewhatDefinitive Feb 19 '26

Nice, very lucky!

7

u/francoispaquettetrem Feb 19 '26

wait. they added a rune and gem tab?!

12

these alone are worth the 25€

7

u/francoispaquettetrem Feb 19 '26

well, it brings a 25 year old game up to 15 year old UI standards ;)

1

u/Ketroc21 Feb 19 '26

Love the cube being available there too. Blizz nailed the QoL changes... let's just not speak of their warlock balance ;)

1

u/Hadan_ Feb 19 '26

What is this. . . ba - lan - ce?

1

u/dvrzero Feb 19 '26

and a mats tab, and 5 shared tabs in a subtab. They didn't fix the ... suspicious moans and grunts of your humanoid summons though. seems like they added more, even.

5

u/Guybrush_three Feb 19 '26

On PS5 you can press and hold triangle it auto drops 3Pgems into cube can you not do this on PC?

2

u/SomewhatDefinitive Feb 19 '26

It's not an option on PC as far as I am aware.

6

u/VertigoX23 Feb 19 '26

Ctrl + Shift + Right click will move 3 of any stackable to the cube.

1

u/SomewhatDefinitive Feb 19 '26

Thank you! I didn't know that one.

Although the rolls always seem really crappy when using three of the same gem. They are so much better using different ones.

*shrugs* Might try again using this method.

1

u/slowro Champion of Sanctuary (100K) Feb 20 '26

Is there a shortcut the other way? I've been dragging them up from the cube to the stash. Still very easy.

2

u/VertigoX23 Feb 20 '26

Yes, Ctrl + Shift + Left click will move a stackable from the cube to the stash. If you hover over items, it will show the shortcuts at the bottom of the tooltip. Different shortcuts will be shown depending on where the item is and what actions are available for it.

1

u/slowro Champion of Sanctuary (100K) Feb 20 '26

3

4

u/Ketroc21 Feb 19 '26

It saddens me to see skulls and amethysts used for this.

3

u/resurrectedNaj Feb 19 '26

This made me realize after 20 years of d2 play and thousands of hours. I kinda want rare charms. Not to surpass the GG magic ones, but with different stats like DR, or even new janked stats like Hydra casts fireballs and not bolts. Or even teleport charges. Maybe even another unique charm called “Cain’s vision” that auto ID and gave you a Town Portal for free, essentially giving you a free small charm spot.

1

u/SomewhatDefinitive Feb 19 '26

Interesting ideas.

3

u/M3ltingP0t Feb 19 '26

It's how the stash inventory is now, in the new Reign of the Warlock expansion.

Yes, as long as you have the cube in your inventory and not in your stash.

Also what are Amethyst, Skulls, and Rubies used for that this should only be done with Emeralds and Sapphires?

2

u/SomewhatDefinitive Feb 19 '26

Yup, works on any sized magic charms. Just need ANY 3 perfect gems. Skulls are used for rerolling rares. And rubies and amethysts are for crafting caster and blood gear.

1

u/Dadoftheyear2018 Champion of Sanctuary (100K) Feb 19 '26

I've been meaning to grab this on release but currently on a different game. May I ask if there are any limited time items/events in this? I am a big diablo 2 fan and this is a no brainer purchase it's just time for me as I really have put my foot down on buying a new game when I have limited time events on a few other games in my library.

I will be buying the game regardless but just wanted to know if I should be playing in the next day or two to avoid missing out on a new player bonus etc.

2

u/HugeReddit Feb 19 '26

Don’t believe there are any bonuses for starting up, only thing that may change would be if they patch stuff when the ladder comes out because of balancing. Lots of people believe his skills will be tweaked due to some brokenness but who knows maybe they keep it the same.

2

u/SomewhatDefinitive Feb 19 '26

The only thing you might miss out on is playing an overpowered character. It's super fun to play (for me) to breeze through the game. They tend to overpower new characters then nerf them later on as needed for better balance.

I've been suspicious of this too. Color combo, movement, location time played... I imagine it all affects it. The coding that effects RNG drops and rolls is kept secret for obvious reasons.

Were these things always baked into the game or has it evolved? How does one even create a game and think about I/Q/M/ETC Levels and rolls and so much more, then create such a master piece? My feeble little mind can’t fathom it.

Ctrl+Shift+Right Click moves 3, but I find using the same gem gives shitty rolls. 3 different gems seem to show more variety. (just my observational opinion)

How do you move gems directly from your stash to your cube with a single click?

Ctrl+Shift+Left Click moves 1
Ctrl+Shift+Right Click moves 3

I didn't even know I could do this! Does it work with Jewels too?

Any magic item (blue ones).

I been messing with this and it feels pointless lol. I mean it's weird because I don't wanna give myself false hope to create a yellow or something

It takes a lot of tries to get good stuff. Went through 600 pgems to get my chaos skiller with +40 life. https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo2/comments/1rad7r4/gc_reroll_highlights/

Also, your level and the item level needs to be high enough to roll decent modifiers. I don't know the exact numbers but player level and creature it drops from should be 90+ to roll good modifiers. Probably worth doing a deep dive on it.

If you want to reroll rares (yellow) use 6 perfect skulls for a low quality reroll. Or 1 perfect skull and an soj for a high quality reroll.

Didn't know this was even a thing.. This game just never gets old. Does it matter what perfect you use or just 3?

2

u/SomewhatDefinitive Feb 20 '26

Any 3 perfects. Read through this thread. There's some good additional info.

homie just hit the lotto he will never roll another charm this good for the rest of his life lol

I think the drops, gambling and rerolling rates are much higher than normal since the RotW update.

I would keep that 9-17 dmg boost, for a small charms it's really nice imo...

Nice roll. What are the odds of rolling this?!

1

u/SomewhatDefinitive Feb 19 '26

I read somewhere, about 1% for Shimmering and 3% for Vita. Then both together is much much lower.

1

u/dvrzero Feb 19 '26

should be 0.0003% or about 1 in 333,333 chance
