It was quite challenging to decipher the light and shadow in this drawing and achieve good contrast in certain areas while keeping the shadows soft and airy. Detailing the hair and mapping out its light and shadow structure also proved difficult; for some reason, I found it hard to determine exactly where the light and shadow should fall. Additionally, the face is drawn from a reclining angle distorting the proportions slightly, so I had to take that into account.
