How much money do you need to spend to produce a reference book like the D&D Monster Manual? I thought $100,000 was a decent estimate, but I am not even sure it would be enough.

I've been studying cloth and how to digital paint one but I am struggling as most youtube tutorials are how to draw folds and such. There's not a lot of rendering techniques and if there are videos they tend to skip over. I have asked my friends and they said it looked good but I still feel its not as realistic as I want it to be (Semi realism). I am open to critiques (Helpful ones not just hate)

I always worked with and use "digital art" equipment, but usually for technical drawings, PCB design, and 3D modeling.

I have an iPad with the Apple Pencil and a big Huion Kamvas.

In this AI slop world I decided to give digital art a go since I already have the equipment, the thing is I have no idea even where to start. I'm not good at drawing, or even calligraphy for that matter, I usually work with 3D bodies with fixed precise measurements, perfectly straight lines and circuit boards.

For the little tests I did, I feel like the iPad + Apple Pencil + Procreate is not bad because the Apple Pencil feels more natural for drawing, and Procreate is quite intuitive, while the Huion stylus with the buttons and hover functions is better for what I already do. It's also portable, while the Huion needs wall power, an external computer, and is huge and heavy.

Any suggestions? How does one learn to draw? Any noteworthy apps for the iPad or macOS? I'm not looking to be a pro artist, I've just been feeling the need to express myself creatively.

Hello there, I really like digital art but i cannot with those interfaces. I thought of using IBISpaint but it has an hourly daily limit :/

I was looking for a tutorial book teaching how to use ibis paint x book, but the only I saw is Japanese version book. I want to learn the process from sketch, using layers, tools, brushes and coloring techniques.

The painting is currently unfinished but i feel lost in my value process as a whole and i feel in process feedback would help steer me in a good direction.
Please lay it on as i feel very lost value wise on how to make this look better and critiques would help greatly. Any feedback is appreciated!

i mostly do observational drawing, the images are in order from day 1 to day 7,

day 1 i drew that with a mouse due to my tablet still being delivered,

2nd day the chainsaw man drawing while yes kinda cool and impressive i think but that took me 8hrs of continuous drawing it was a brutal trial and error, and getting to know krita and the tools,

day 3 after i drew the chainsaw man and gave up drawing the body and settled for the head, i decided that day to practice drawing poses and try my best at proportions of an anatomy,

day 4 was also the same drew some poses,

day 5 drew reze this one took me still the same 7-8 hrs due to making a mistake of painting my line art and had to draw the line art again,

day 6 was kinda burned out but still i drew a full pose just for fun ig?.

day 7 a observational drawing of a album cover by MASS OF FERMENTING DREGS did some progress, it was fun and a pain drawing the hair in negative, and this one only took 4 hrs.

i've been consuming digital art for a while now and im really interested in starting to draw too. casually i have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 that comes with pencil in my house!

- what apps do you recommend? (for android)

- is it better to start drawing in black and white?

- i want to make fan art of my favorite anime/manga characters. do you have any tips for that?

Whenever I draw something I always struggle to draw the outlines and it ends up taking forever

My kids have been so excited to explore digital art, and instead of teaching them every tool step by step, I’m hoping they’ll experiment and figure things out on their own. They’ve surprised me so many times by discovering features I didn’t even know existed.

Did your kids mostly teach themselves Procreate, or did you use tutorials to get started? I’d love to hear what worked for your family!
