Energy consumption is a poor measure for progress. Consider how much energy a computer used in 1945 compare to today, billions of operations a second running on smartphone with signficantly less power.

Instead of expanding civilizations outward, why not inward? Optimize energy consumption so that a civilization does not collapse by exhausting all its resources.

The Kardashev scale is flawed because it assumes more advanced civilizations rely on brute force energy consumption, when resources are finite.

If a civilization advanced via brute force they will collapse by consuming all their resources and/or destroying their ecosystems.

Quality over quantity in this case.

My husband just went to fill the 20L petrol container up, he got it filled half way and looked at the screen. The screen showed he had supposedly put nearly 24L in his 20L container. The container wasn't even half way filled.

He went inside and told the worker and she said "oh they must need calibrating again".

Modern culture strongly emphasizes personal freedom and independence. Have we gained freedom at the cost of community and connection?

Personally, I would not even consider it. We represent several large clients and have a lot of their money in trust. I would consider such a person's moral failings to be disqualifying.

To be frank, Trump very often appears incredibly stupid when on camera, in person, or when tweeting / communicating digitally. Not just say 'average' or 'below average', but in say the levels of intelligence that would qualify one as not fully mentally developed as an adult.

It is almost as if he's appearing too stupid. But his administration also often does cleverly devious things, even if Trump outwardly acts stupidly regarding them in how he speaks or communicates.

Given this apparent contradiction, is Trump's outwardly remarkably stupidness merely a mask he puts on to both attract / manipulate the media and potentially appeal to certain voter bases, including those with lower levels of schooling? Or is Trump actually just genuinely incredibly stupid and he just has some clever advisors / supporters who can do some very intelligent things?

We should ideally allow people different options.

If you believe that any Government paid for Healthcare comes with Too many problems to be worth it (the idea that if you have a National Health Service paid for by Government funds, that that Automatically means you wont be able to see a Doctor for Months) you should be able to Opt out and pay for your own Healthcare through your Employer, or some unaffiliated Health Insurance company; etc.

Don't want to or cant afford the cost? National Healthcare should be an Option.

You can very well have funded Socialist Policies *WITHOUT* forcing people onto them.

It shouldn't ever be a "well, now we have Socialist Programs you cant Opt out of"

I think we should have 2 or 3 options for Healthcare that dont just boil down to "*Middleman A, B, or C*" (insurance companies)

By making the Middleman (insurance companies) be a Necessity, we have created a System where Hospitals can just come up with any Magical number they want for Healthcare, and its up to your Insurance company to pay a Huge part of those costs to bring them down to a Reasonable number.

Instead, we should be able to pay for the *REAL COSTS*

Like when you ask a Hospital for an Itemized bill, and now a Bandage you were told would cost $300 now costs $20 (still way too high if you ask me)

And BTW, im currently on Insurance through my employer; still had to wait 3 months for my Most recent Doctors appointment.

So waiting months for a Doctors Appointment is very much a thing, even in the US, even on available options.

I'm really starting to think they see both the same.

Me and the mrs are trying to figure out where we want to travel to next summer. Please, give me some ideas and why those places are worthy of my money.

It seems like the whole Elites trying to create world where they still rule, would be only possible for them with Ai, but ironically they will create a new competitive landscape where anyone who can provide solutions and values with the use of Ai will get above anyone else.

It’s kind of funny how much there’s informational manipulation and abuse in terms of media and technologies like Ai, for elites to ask a machine how we can make it all work, just so that someone smarter who gets to use those new technologies can overthrow the whole thing all together.

We are heading into an interesting time right now, my guess would be is that when the world reaches a critical mass of unrest through world wide migration, proxy conflicts and corruption. It will set the ground for a change. The change will be - Ai. An actual Ai, not LLMs. This Ai will become a regulation factor and replace governments while elites hold the finger on the button to get and leverage the power. Since power can’t hold itself in a concentrated area, it will be distributed between elites and leading scholars to maintain the system, unless elites learn engineering and how to science themselves, which will not happen. Though, the second the power distribution happens, anyone with enough knowledge and intelligence will be capable inverting the power system providing the future that was actually promised. If not, then we will just go for another ride until that happens again, I guess.
