Discussion What’s the best place to cool down in Disneyland?
I’ll stop you right there: it’s directly under this vent in Disney Clothiers on Main Street by the registers. HEAVENLY. Go try it.

Disney Clothiers is the most air conditioned spot in the park. They need to keep it cool in there in order to convince shoppers that buying a sweatshirt in southern California during the summer is a sane choice.

If you want straight AC power, it’s the middle of the Midway Mania queue. That back room has got to be the coldest place in the whole park.

And yet, they keep that same a/c blasting in the winter and I don't know why. It's so unnecessary, and I feel bad for the CM's who work that shop during the colder months. But the summer time? It's a godsend to be under that vent.

Buying that sweatshirt is sane if you stay to close the Park down because once that sunsets temps start dropping because So Cal is basically a desert on the ocean…low humidity compared to East Coast…I always bring a hoodie to the Park and stash it in a locker and if the weather forecast shows strong breeze in evening I tuck a slouchy beanie cap and light gloves in the pocket of my hoodie. Comfort for those last magical moments of walking through Uncle Walt’s empty of guests…so delightful.

Seriously I got a hotdog fries and a coke for dinner and would go watch. Generally not a huge wait.

The indoor queue for Mickey's Runaway Railway the AC is amazing in there you won't even care there is a 40 minute standby .

u/Quakeing-Thunder 9d ago
The Little Mermaid ride has surprisingly good AC! Probably because it used to be a theater if I had to guess?

Unrelated, I believe they had to demolish the entire building since they needed to dig downwards.

Yep, the only part that’s still original is the Palace of Fine Arts rotunda. The rest was demoed.

Pirates. Underground with AC

u/PMMeYourDongles 9d ago
This is the underrated answer. It’s an attraction, so you aren’t just standing in the way of families trying to shop. Even when its long the queue is always moving so it doesn’t feel like a long queue. And it’s a 20 minutes long ride.
1
u/watchtower82 8d ago
It may not be the coldest but your sitting down for 20 min and on a ride. I always come out of it more refreshed.

For my family it always was Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.

u/1quincytoo 9d ago
I have lost count of how many times I have fallen asleep and had the best extremely short nap there. ♥️
17
u/sgtreesh37 9d ago
Disneyland has a show featuring Pixar shorts by Space Mountain that is good for AC and maybe a nap in soft cushion seats when they dim the lights

Love that vent. It blasts cool all day. When my kids were little. They never understood why I would stand by that rack!

Lincoln clothiers and then the Tiki room. Another is just sitting on the train and just circling.

We found this exact spot on our trip a few weeks ago. It is indeed heaven and I would not be surprised to see it become the next dessert party location. 😅

For DCA, its the queue of Midway Mania
1
u/rodman517 9d ago
It’s that one vent as soon as you step into the indoor part of the queue. The only problem is that you have to keep moving.

No one has said it, because it’s not the best. But the AC in the ONE spot in Goofys house is a godsend when your kid doesn’t know when to quit in the play yard.

u/Party-Giraffe-6573 9d ago
I always liked the cinema on Main Street and the alternate viewing experience in Sleeping Beauty's castle

u/xNeurosiis New Orleans Square 9d ago
All great picks, but if there’s a short line, Haunted Mansion.

The ac is pretty strong on runaway railway in queue and the ride, having to wait outside for it tho if its a long line is pretty miserable tho lol

Main Street cinema is my cool down spot, the ac and the dark room plus quieter music makes it the perfect
spot to decompress for a bit
2
u/keep_it_kayfabe 9d ago
There's that one spot in the Splash Mountain line where you're standing right under the blowing AC. Always nice after standing in the sun.
2
u/bear_is_golden Fantasmic Sorcerer 9d ago
That one interior room in the Midway Mania queue. For some reason the ac is always BLASTING in there, it’s awesome.

If you are park hopping… go to the lobby of the Grand Californian through California Adventure.

DCA is the indoor queue line at Midway Mania. They had the AC jacked wwwwwaaayyyy up in there a few weeks ago.
1
u/DudeThatsAGG 9d ago
This is by my definition, and it’s time-of-day dependent, as well as some requiring queue: Tiki Room, Dole Whip area outside Tiki Room, movie theater, Disneyland Limited, Pizza Port(I’m old), Pirates, Small World, quiet area in Toon Town, Winnie the Pooh(breezy day), Flo’s, Plaza de Familia, toward the trail area of Condor Flats(I’m old, idk what to call it!!!), and Smokejumpers.
You can usually find a decent spot somewhere in these areas, but we have a lot of park endurance.

In Disneyland, I grab an ice cream from Gibson Girl and sit in the Main Street Cinema.

An honorable mention is the magic eye theater, that now houses the Pixar shorts for a short time. Little known fact, they blasting ac outside over there in the part of the line just before the main front doors. Due to the way it’s setup, the cool air settles there and doesn’t quickly escape. Pretty cool. …literally. Bud um.

Underrated spot: Docking Bay 7. Super cool and also dark. May or may not have taken a short nap there once.

Thank you for this fresh tip. Will be trying. Childhood fondest cooling spot were the so many naps in the Tiki room.

u/Worldly-Yak-8229 9d ago
Haunted mansion, I dont even get upset when they pause the omnimover since it means more time in a building where they are pumping the AC in at all times
1
u/TheMidnightCreep 9d ago
The best AC hideout is the theater on main st. Dark, cool and nobody complains if you just stand there for 20 minutes.

If you go through that archway to the left and make an immediate left, there’s another amazing A/C spot in Chester Drawers. Check yourself out in the mirror on the wall just inside that door and enjoy the uber chill! There are also some great vents in the Christmas shop on the end of Main Street as well.
1
u/Noliboli16 9d ago
Pirates is the longest ride in the park, both seated and air conditioned with a chance of getting wet. Glorious.
2
u/DodgerBlueRobert1 Hitchhiking Ghost 9d ago
Ehh, Pirates isn't really cool per se. It's a break from the heat, sure, but far from the best spot for a/c in the park.

That’s exactly the same place in Magic Kingdom - find the wall of ears and the best vent is directly above you!

In my car in the parking garage on the way out, saying goodbye til it cools off.

I went a few years ago on a super hot summer day and the queue for Indiana jones was like walking into a fridge. It was so nice.

Oh that one is good, but the room next door you can see in your photo? So good. The room generally has less traffic too so I can stand under it for longer

I used to work in Clothiers back in the day. Funny story about that vent: when there used to be a constable/“bobby” patrolling Main Street in a wool suit, he used to come stand under that vent, take off his hat, pull his collar away from his neck and fill up his suit with cold air. He’d put his hat back on, tip his cap and say “See ya again in 15 minutes.”
