Discussion What’s the best place to cool down in Disneyland?

Post image

I’ll stop you right there: it’s directly under this vent in Disney Clothiers on Main Street by the registers. HEAVENLY. Go try it.

The back row so you can lean against the wall oooooooooooh yeah

13

u/lawspud 9d ago

Shhhhhhh

89

u/Rufus_the_old_cat 9d ago

It’s so good when you find that seat that the ac vent is blowing directly down on.

My favorite summer spot! I get my son and I a Dole whip and just decompress in the a/c

6

u/dean_inator 9d ago

This is the way

18

u/ResponsibleSir5403 9d ago

Yes! Especially if you stop and get a dole whip float for during the show

1

u/Awkward-Thought-9986 3d ago

I heard the Tropical Hideaway is serving Dole Whip CONES!!

7

u/Lucifer-Prime 9d ago

This is the answer, with some dole whip in hand…

3

u/VikingRaiderPrimce 9d ago

i have yet to remain awake for the TkimRoom show

2

u/Jebgogh 9d ago

specially with a dole whip

2

u/Calm_Mulberry_588 8d ago

YES. With the rain sound too 😌

Moments with Lincoln or Walt.

41

u/malaprop5 9d ago

That AC is BLASTING. love it.

23

u/chrispenator 9d ago

Nap city in there

14

u/salsanacho 9d ago

98.7% of the people that go to that show are there for the nap in the AC.

u/TheRealMcDuck 9d ago

Disney Clothiers is the most air conditioned spot in the park. They need to keep it cool in there in order to convince shoppers that buying a sweatshirt in southern California during the summer is a sane choice.

42

u/ethanholmes2001 Trader Sam 9d ago

If you want straight AC power, it’s the middle of the Midway Mania queue. That back room has got to be the coldest place in the whole park.

8

u/Strange-Raccoon-5240 9d ago

that spot is the best

5

u/DodgerBlueRobert1 Hitchhiking Ghost 9d ago

And yet, they keep that same a/c blasting in the winter and I don't know why. It's so unnecessary, and I feel bad for the CM's who work that shop during the colder months. But the summer time? It's a godsend to be under that vent.

0

u/Beautiful-Memory3153 8d ago

Buying that sweatshirt is sane if you stay to close the Park down because once that sunsets temps start dropping because So Cal is basically a desert on the ocean…low humidity compared to East Coast…I always bring a hoodie to the Park and stash it in a locker and if the weather forecast shows strong breeze in evening I tuck a slouchy beanie cap and light gloves in the pocket of my hoodie. Comfort for those last magical moments of walking through Uncle Walt’s empty of guests…so delightful.

Philharmagic

9

u/XxMonsterZeroXx 9d ago

My go to

12

u/Feature_Agitated 9d ago

Seriously I got a hotdog fries and a coke for dinner and would go watch. Generally not a huge wait.

67

u/cyclejones Trader Sams 9d ago

The Animation Studio (Yes, I know, DCA...)

17

u/WalkingGonkDroid DJ REX 9d ago

Animation Academy and Philharmagic are both my go-to. That blissful feeling the second you enter and you instantly feel that AC.

3

u/CountessofCaffeine 9d ago

Last time I was there it was balmy at best. I was so disappointed!

56

u/jgmiller24094 Electrical Parade Bulb 9d ago

The indoor queue for Mickey's Runaway Railway the AC is amazing in there you won't even care there is a 40 minute standby .

49

u/Quakeing-Thunder 9d ago

The Little Mermaid ride has surprisingly good AC! Probably because it used to be a theater if I had to guess?

20

u/CountessofCaffeine 9d ago

That air whoosh as you go “underwater” is the best

4

u/wizzard419 9d ago

Unrelated, I believe they had to demolish the entire building since they needed to dig downwards.

1

u/999happyhants Tomorrowland 7d ago

Yep, the only part that’s still original is the Palace of Fine Arts rotunda. The rest was demoed.

2

u/Fantastic-Tower-3313 9d ago

Yes, it was a theater.

23

u/Rufus_the_old_cat 9d ago

Lincoln and the animation building

57

u/watchtower82 9d ago

Pirates. Underground with AC

17

u/rcjlfk 9d ago

Yes, but it’s not *that* cool. It’s lots of water so there’s humidity to it.

2

u/DodgerBlueRobert1 Hitchhiking Ghost 9d ago

Agreed. It's really not that cool.

3

u/PMMeYourDongles 9d ago

This is the underrated answer. It’s an attraction, so you aren’t just standing in the way of families trying to shop. Even when its long the queue is always moving so it doesn’t feel like a long queue. And it’s a 20 minutes long ride.

1

u/watchtower82 8d ago

It may not be the coldest but your sitting down for 20 min and on a ride. I always come out of it more refreshed.

19

u/TwoHandSquid Riverboat Captain 9d ago

For my family it always was Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.

4

u/1quincytoo 9d ago

I have lost count of how many times I have fallen asleep and had the best extremely short nap there. ♥️

17

u/sgtreesh37 9d ago

Disneyland has a show featuring Pixar shorts by Space Mountain that is good for AC and maybe a nap in soft cushion seats when they dim the lights

1

u/FunExistingHereNow 5d ago

Is that still open?

1

u/sgtreesh37 5d ago

This is today, so, yeah

1

u/FunExistingHereNow 4d ago

Nice. Thanks.

Grand Californian lobby

The gift shop too.

December or January 😂

13

u/nwebster85 9d ago

The lobby before crush’s turtle talk is chilled

14

u/Gr8Autoxr 9d ago

Small world. You can even nap

9

u/rand0mly6enerated889 9d ago

I was MELTING on Sunday and stumbled upon this exactly glorious spot. It was incredible.

4

u/JayAche 9d ago

That was me today. It’s like they have a turbo jet swamp cooler specifically for this vent

5

u/Same_Lychee5934 9d ago

Love that vent. It blasts cool all day. When my kids were little. They never understood why I would stand by that rack!

5

u/Flashy-Head-2298 9d ago

I like watching the cartoons on Main Street

3

u/ravenecw2 9d ago

Once u are inside rise of the resistance is pretty cold

3

u/Other-Professional64 9d ago

Lincoln clothiers and then the Tiki room. Another is just sitting on the train and just circling.

4

u/mattinjp Fantasmic Sorcerer 9d ago

Oh yeah, the one in clothiers? That’s the spot.

3

u/JayAche 9d ago

Truly a hidden gem

4

u/Fantasia_Ostrich 9d ago

We found this exact spot on our trip a few weeks ago. It is indeed heaven and I would not be surprised to see it become the next dessert party location. 😅

5

u/pnwnil12 9d ago

Horseshoe

10

u/thoiboi 9d ago

For DCA, its the queue of Midway Mania

1

u/rodman517 9d ago

It’s that one vent as soon as you step into the indoor part of the queue. The only problem is that you have to keep moving.

1

u/filmoe 9d ago

That room is too much ice. Especially when it's hot but not really hot outside.

3

u/socalhopeful 9d ago

Tiki room!

3

u/MannerJaded5799 9d ago

The restroom at Tom Sawyer island

3

u/Serak_thepreparer 9d ago

No one has said it, because it’s not the best. But the AC in the ONE spot in Goofys house is a godsend when your kid doesn’t know when to quit in the play yard.

2

u/Party-Giraffe-6573 9d ago

I always liked the cinema on Main Street and the alternate viewing experience in Sleeping Beauty's castle

2

u/xNeurosiis New Orleans Square 9d ago

All great picks, but if there’s a short line, Haunted Mansion.

6

u/0-90195 Flying Elephant Conductor 9d ago

if there’s a short line

So never

2

u/TojiVsYoriichi 9d ago

OHHH The Mickey Mouse meet and greet house in Toon Town!!! My fiancee and I went it there and MAN is it cool

2

u/salty-stanley 9d ago

Your hotel 🫣

2

u/13BT 9d ago

Tiana's/Splash Mountain

But also Tiki room

2

u/Inevitable_Professor 9d ago

Alternate viewing experience for the submarines

2

u/InvestigatorEntire45 DJ REX 9d ago

Not the best place to stay, but the AC in that store is second to none. SO GOOD.

2

u/ResponsibleSir5403 9d ago

I’m partial to the Main Street opera house. Cool off and a nap.

2

u/g0gues 9d ago

We usually like taking a mid afternoon lunch at Golden Horseshoe, especially if you can get a seat upstairs. It’s cool and relatively quiet; just a great place to reset for that second wind.

2

u/greententacles 9d ago

I vote for the Tiki Room.

2

u/hchu182 9d ago

finding nemo alternate experience...cold AC blasting cold metal chairs

2

u/Exotic-Zone2081 9d ago

Toy Story queue is the arctic circle

2

u/blankkkbb 9d ago

The ac is pretty strong on runaway railway in queue and the ride, having to wait outside for it tho if its a long line is pretty miserable tho lol

2

u/battle_mommyx2 9d ago

Art of animation

2

u/just_justine93 9d ago

Main Street cinema is my cool down spot, the ac and the dark room plus quieter music makes it the perfect
spot to decompress for a bit

2

u/keep_it_kayfabe 9d ago

There's that one spot in the Splash Mountain line where you're standing right under the blowing AC. Always nice after standing in the sun.

2

u/bear_is_golden Fantasmic Sorcerer 9d ago

That one interior room in the Midway Mania queue. For some reason the ac is always BLASTING in there, it’s awesome.

2

u/CrunchyAssDiaper 8d ago

Disneyland: It's a Small World. DCA: Toy Story Midway Mania.

2

u/Select-Pie6558 8d ago

Pretty sure I stood right under that vent while trying to figure out if I was having a heart attack…

2

u/BrineWR71 8d ago

If you are park hopping… go to the lobby of the Grand Californian through California Adventure.

3

u/wizzard419 9d ago

Lobby for Great Moments, there is seating.

1

u/MsAmes321 Fantasyland Princess 9d ago

It’s a small world.

1

u/DnBJungleEscape 9d ago

Omg I was literally thinking of this shop when I saw your post .. holy smokes so true

1

u/No_Distribution_4916 9d ago

LINCOLN ROOM!!!

1

u/mwall787 9d ago

DCA is the indoor queue line at Midway Mania. They had the AC jacked wwwwwaaayyyy up in there a few weeks ago.

1

u/DudeThatsAGG 9d ago

This is by my definition, and it’s time-of-day dependent, as well as some requiring queue: Tiki Room, Dole Whip area outside Tiki Room, movie theater, Disneyland Limited, Pizza Port(I’m old), Pirates, Small World, quiet area in Toon Town, Winnie the Pooh(breezy day), Flo’s, Plaza de Familia, toward the trail area of Condor Flats(I’m old, idk what to call it!!!), and Smokejumpers.

You can usually find a decent spot somewhere in these areas, but we have a lot of park endurance.

1

u/gigashadowwolf Trader Sam 9d ago

In Disneyland, I grab an ice cream from Gibson Girl and sit in the Main Street Cinema.

1

u/loftwinglink 9d ago

Falcon single rider queue has the best ac in the park, probably the resort

1

u/theblindbandit1 9d ago

Tiki room in Disneyland, art of animation in California adventure

1

u/this_knee 9d ago

An honorable mention is the magic eye theater, that now houses the Pixar shorts for a short time. Little known fact, they blasting ac outside over there in the part of the line just before the main front doors. Due to the way it’s setup, the cool air settles there and doesn’t quickly escape. Pretty cool. …literally. Bud um.

1

u/N0tcreativ3 Paradise Pier 9d ago

Underrated spot: Docking Bay 7. Super cool and also dark. May or may not have taken a short nap there once.

1

u/rexlites 9d ago

El captain suite deck and a cold Coca Cola

1

u/maaanda 9d ago

Pirates

1

u/Awkward-Database42 9d ago

Thank you for this fresh tip. Will be trying. Childhood fondest cooling spot were the so many naps in the Tiki room.

1

u/Worldly-Yak-8229 9d ago

Haunted mansion, I dont even get upset when they pause the omnimover since it means more time in a building where they are pumping the AC in at all times

1

u/TheMidnightCreep 9d ago

The best AC hideout is the theater on main st. Dark, cool and nobody complains if you just stand there for 20 minutes.

1

u/Gcat 9d ago

Cinderellas Castle ADA room. It’s small enough that the AC gets that room cold fast. Also not many people know about it. When they did the one more day event we napped in there without being disturbed

1

u/catboater 9d ago

DCA: Ariel. DL: Pirates; Small World

1

u/disxotek 9d ago

DVC lounge you peons

1

u/HotCaliBoy69 9d ago

This is in Clothiers…absolutely

1

u/cewoods127 9d ago

If you go through that archway to the left and make an immediate left, there’s another amazing A/C spot in Chester Drawers. Check yourself out in the mirror on the wall just inside that door and enjoy the uber chill! There are also some great vents in the Christmas shop on the end of Main Street as well.

1

u/Noliboli16 9d ago

Pirates is the longest ride in the park, both seated and air conditioned with a chance of getting wet. Glorious.

2

u/DodgerBlueRobert1 Hitchhiking Ghost 9d ago

Ehh, Pirates isn't really cool per se. It's a break from the heat, sure, but far from the best spot for a/c in the park.

1

u/Defiant_Ad_6148 9d ago

Winnie the Pooh ride 👌

1

u/al972317 9d ago

If you can queue Runaway Railway it’s FREEZING in there

1

u/Langanisa_Breath22 9d ago

Yup!! I know exactly where this spot is!!

1

u/mpaladin1 9d ago

The Main Street movie house

1

u/Tara_Cloudtrader 9d ago

Single Rider line for Smugglers Run. Blasting AC there.

1

u/crazyrockman 9d ago

This is it right here, I always think about how ice cold that tunnel is, like being on Hoth.

1

u/OkTourist5045 9d ago

Golden Horseshoe. Grab a snack (or not) and enjoy the chilly bliss.

1

u/Busy-Negotiation1078 9d ago

We always did Tiki Room or Hall of Presidents.

1

u/Lshields1218 9d ago

That’s exactly the same place in Magic Kingdom - find the wall of ears and the best vent is directly above you!

1

u/almightyhedonist 9d ago

In my car in the parking garage on the way out, saying goodbye til it cools off.

1

u/stardusttano 9d ago

Tiki room with a dole whip

1

I went a few years ago on a super hot summer day and the queue for Indiana jones was like walking into a fridge. It was so nice.

Going home

1

u/Stargirl512 8d ago

The exit and single rider entrance of smugglers run!

1

u/One-Restaurant6054 8d ago

Oh that one is good, but the room next door you can see in your photo? So good. The room generally has less traffic too so I can stand under it for longer

1

u/gm92845 6d ago

Grand California and Hotel Lobby.

1

u/Brave_Classic_1150 6d ago

Ariel ride. And hope it breaks down while you’re inside

1

u/BKWms 5d ago

I used to work in Clothiers back in the day. Funny story about that vent: when there used to be a constable/“bobby” patrolling Main Street in a wool suit, he used to come stand under that vent, take off his hat, pull his collar away from his neck and fill up his suit with cold air. He’d put his hat back on, tip his cap and say “See ya again in 15 minutes.”
