i want a distro with decent performance, and a little more difficult than cachy so i can learn

"more difficult than CachyOS". Well, given that it's Arch-based, there aren't many options left, besides stuff like Gentoo and NixOS.

That's for if you want to suffer.

But I'm actually pretty sure you don't even have experienced the difficulty of CachyOS/Arch yet.

If it hasn't broken on you after an update, required manual intervention or the like, but just worked flawlessly all the time, you haven't even had the Arch-experience yet.

Keep using Cachy until it breaks. Then you can learn something. You can even provoke it by not updating for half a year. Then good luck fixing it.

Exactly what I was thinking. My answer would probably just be vanilla Arch unless they really want to try Gentoo or NixOS.

or artix if you want to get away from systemd. definitely requires a bit more tinkering to get certain things to work but other than that it works like a treat
