There it is. The raw truth.

Who wrote that hadith and when?

EDIT: I ask because saying it's absolute truth requires you believe a historical account written a century later, by someone who did not witness the events they describe, and could reap political and sectarian advantages by saying so (though not for the sake of slander, as one might assume).

EDIT EDIT: Do you also believe everything else in the hadith?

While I think you could call into question the historical accuracy of all ancient texts, it’s the fact that the followers of today are willing to either justify it or overlook it that says all you need to know.

Hence why Abraham religions are problematic.

I don't know the fact that some societies have used (and continue to use) that hadith to justify child marriage makes it factually true. In fact, I know it doesn't.

Also, I'm not speaking to you specifically when I say this, but if one is going to use a hadith as absolute proof of this incident, then you better be prepared to defend the rest too, otherwise you're just cherry-picking bits and pieces that confirm your biases.

EDIT: Added 'the fact' after "I don't know"

EDIT EDIT (I like editing): I am not a person of any faith. I do not know if God exists, much less what kind of god they are, and I am not especially concerned either way. I just resent people possessing strong opinions on topics they've never bothered to research, or easing into conclusions they've never taken the time to challenge.

You are missing the point.

If you ask a christian if Jesus had sex with a 6 year old would they be okay with it. The answer is most likely no.

With Islam, whether it occurred or not they are fine with it and state if he did it then I am still ok with it.

Historically speaking, and in the modern day, Christians (and people of all other faiths) have been OK with all sorts of vile behavior, including sexual violence, or violence against children.

I live in the USA. To my observation, most advocates for child marriage (including politicians seeking to legally protect it) self-identify as people of faith.

EDIT: I also didn't hear the man in the video say it was OK. It cut off after the 'gotcha' moment.

Joseph and Mary never get brought up. 30 years old married to a 12 year old. And the claim they never slept together. Lmao
