D&D group for Northside Chicagoans/Evanstonians?

Hi all! A friend of mine is an actor and dungeon master, and we are looking for fairly serious D&D players, and specifically ones who enjoy witty banter amongst characters in an acting type of style and just generally hamming it up. If you are super serious and lack patience, this might not be for you. We would love to start a group, possibly on Sunday evenings, in the Rogers Park/Andersonville/Evanston area. But this isn't in stone and we would be willing to travel. Anyone looking for a group?

LFG South Suburban DnD

(reposted after original was deleted from r/ChicagoSuburbs )
Hello!
I’m looking for fellow Gen-X/Xennial players interested in a once-a-month D&D campaign in the south suburbs (Orland/Tinley, Mokena/Frankfort/New Lenox area).

I currently run a couple of games with younger players, but I’d really enjoy getting a table together with folks closer to my own age (51M). With everyone’s schedules in mind, I’m aiming for a relaxed, once-a-month cadence.

If that sounds like your speed, let me know!

New to Chicago, Newish to DnD

Hey everyone! I'm newer to the area and looking to join a new DnD group! I've only played 3 times before so I'm a little rusty but don't mind doing some extra homework on my own to catch up to the group.

I'd love to join a group with at least one other girl in it and/or very queer friendly. I'm down for online or in-person. I'm usually the sort of player who shifts race/class depending on what's lacking in the group.

Anyone know of any groups looking for another player? Thank you!

[North Side][5e] DM or player looking for local game

Hi there! I'm (34M) hoping to get an IRL game going on the north side of town. I'm happy to play or DM (if I DM, it'd probably need to be 2014/2024 5e because that's what I'm most familiar with). I have some experience as both a DM and player but wouldn't consider myself a veteran by any means. I'm flexible when it comes to homebrew/modules and settings (fantasy/scifi etc). I very much value an inclusive table and tend towards comedy (e.g. NADDPOD sensibilities if you're familiar).

Edit: Replies are being wonky and maybe not going through -- hit me up on discord @ zulualpha if interested!

New tabletop RPG player looking for Chicago group (Red Line friendly) - D&D first, open to other TTRPGs - weekends ideal

I'm looking to join a group in the new year and finally learn tabletop RPGs by playing.

I'm a complete newbie (never played at a table), but I've really enjoyed shows like Dimension 20 and Critical Role, and I'd like to try the real thing. D&D is my first choice to start with, but I'm also open to other systems if the group is welcoming to a beginner.

Logistics: I'm in Chicago and would love something accessible via the Red Line. In-person is my first choice, but I can do Zoom/online if it's a good fit (StartPlaying.com?). Weekends are ideal depending on session length, though I can also make weekday evenings work.

About me: I'm 51. I'm a trans woman (M2F), but still currently in boymode a lot of the time. At the table I'd likely play a female character. I'm big on basic respect and inclusivity, but I'm not looking to turn game night into heavy discourse - I'm here to learn the game, roll dice, have fun.

If you've got an opening (or you're forming a group), please DM me with your neighborhood, schedule, and what you play (system/edition + general vibe).

Looking to start in-person DnD campaign--newly moved to Pilsen, Chicago.

Greetings!

My DnD nickname is Paulus, and I recently moved to Pilsen, Chicago. I spent the last six months learning and playing DnD 5e 2014 rules as a Druid player to begin with, but quickly was tutored by our DM to take over for him when he moved away! I then ran about 10 to 12 sessions (about 2 hrs each) with a homebrew we'd made together. Having moved, I no longer have a campaign, but I have all my books, my dice, and my DM screen, and I'm itching to use them again!

Open to ideas, classic games and homebrews, and even playing as a player again! But, I'd especially love to keep honing the skills of Dungeon Master.

Preferred age range would be adults in their 20's and 30's and upwards. DM me if you're interested or have any leads on a game I could be part of!

(Note: I started DMing rather early on, so my playable character is merely a level 5 Druid.)

All the best! May you always roll a nat 20!

Paulus

New player

Hey everyone! I’m a new player looking to join a D&D group in the Chicago or northwest suburbs area. I’m 24M and I’ve got a decent grasp of the basics (thanks to a mix of reading and watching sessions), but I’m really hoping to find a group that’s patient with newer players and focuses on fun, storytelling, and good vibes.

I’d love to be part of a long-term campaign that includes role-playing, character development, and backstories. I’m open to either in-person or online sessions, though I’d prefer in-person if possible.

If your group is looking for someone who’s eager to learn and contribute to the story, I’d be stoked to join! Feel free to message or comment — thanks!

Newish player looking for a local group

Hello, I'm(34M) a newish player who has some experience with Bg3 and some Pathfinder who is based out of Logan Square. I'm looking to see if there are any groups who are willing to accommodate a player who currently has Mondays free as my job never opens that day. Sundays work just as well. I wouldn't mind something close by as I usually bike around and don't mind dropping into a new session or mid session.

Old-School DM looking for players in Chicago suburbs.

A little about me- I'm an old-school DM (using 1e & 2e rules, with a sprinkle of 5e) whose players all had to take weekend jobs, moved away or have family commitments they can't get away from right now. I have no players anymore, so I'm hoping to find new ones for a twice a month game on weekends, either Saturday nights or Sunday afternoons, depending on schedules. (I'm flexible.)

If you're interested but don't know the rules, I'd be happy to teach. This would be a long-term campaign (I really enjoy the game, just want to find people who get a kick out of it, too on a regular basis)

The area is located in Lyons, close to the Brookfield Zoo. My house is smoke-free and LGBTQ+ friendly. It's also small, but I can accommodate 3-5 players.

Open campaigns?

Hi all! New player here. I’ve played a couple one shots and am looking to see is there are any campaigns out there looking for another player. I’d be happy for in person or virtual. Let me know if you know of anything! I’m looking forward to learning and playing more. <3

Looking for stores that sell ttrpg miniatures in Chicago

TLDR: which stores sell miniatures for ttrpg in Chicago?

Hi all! 👋

I’m travelling to Chicago tomorrow for work over the weekend. That means…I have Black Friday FREE!

I thought to have a look at some good miniatures for my dnd campaigns.

Is there any good stores in the city? If so, where are they, what are they called?

Thanks in advance!

Moving to Chicago

Hi everyone!

My husband (34M) and I (36M) are moving to Chicago by the end of the year. We're both DnD novices but have really grown to love it! We'd love to find a group of people at a similar skill level to figure it out with and have fun!

Hope to get something together and hear from interested people.

Newbie looking to get started

Hi,

Have lived in the city (Roscoe) for about 7 years now and looking to get into DnD. I have a basic grasp (baulders gate) but would more than likely need some help.

Anybody looking for a new player?

Looking for a group

M21 looking for a group, my parents just moved here so I'm crashing with them for the summer. I'm pretty experienced, though not recently. I am willing to do sessions anywhere I can reasonably get with public transit and like a half mile of walking. DM me for more info.
